Personally I hate the new look. Assymetrical bmw were soo cool especially the k1300r. Now all bikes look the same. Yamaha just gave up on coming up with a good headlight section. They screwed a led lamp and hi fived themselves. 🤦🏻♂️

Do you guys think 2-strokes have a place in today or future? I owned one at the time, and would like to have a modern version being built.

IIRC Langen Motorcycles is working on a modern 2 stroke ? don't know much about it but to my knowledge they looked pretty serious about bringing it to market. We desperately need more variety in bike offering so deffo wish them luck
@zibingotaeam37163 жыл бұрын
@@UrgetoRide No simply because they burn more oil than their 4 stroke counterparts, meaning more hydrocarbons in the emissions leading to them not passing EU5 and have a significantly worse powerband. Outside of super light weight applications like extreme MX, say Erzberg Rodeo, where riders have to be able to carry their bike up some ascents, there is no point to two stroke
@festol13 жыл бұрын
@@UrgetoRide Me too. I rode 2-stroke trail bikes and they a beast. Heard rumons about F1 adopting 2-strokes too, Ferrari had their F134 prototype, there are hi-end supersport 2-strokers around. If they figure out the cavitation at the exaust, fuel management, power band and lubrification it would be a great complement, not suplement with the brother 2-stroke. Most of all.... a lot of power.

Up to 2018, it sounds almost exactly like the story of the R35 GTR. revolutionary when it came out, but sat on its laurels for a few too many years as the competition caught up, getting more expensive as it went and going from supercar eater to supercar to be eaten.

Nearly everyone I know in local racing run the R1 for its meatier power band and superior drive off corners. ASBK, WSBK, BSB AMA…. Not many BMW’s I see dominating… Ita a great bike, but pretty much all new 1000cc sports bikes are these days. Its a far stretch to claim the BMW currently dominates???

A good video. Very good. But those old airhead BMW twins were quite nice machines and could be hustled along. The R90S almost invented the long-distance GT. The R100RS somehow kept that ball rolling. And (some will disagree) the K75 was not a bad sports bike. On the highway, not the track. It was a superior machine to the K100 and all the 4-cylinder variants. On a twisty highway it kept up with almost anything. A lot of your BMW stereotyping is accurate, but some is a bit wide of the mark. I write as one who never owned a BMW and never loved them, but rode quite a few and liked them a lot. Good video anyway...

For those that want to know. In the original airing episode of "90210".... there is a BMW K1. (If I remember correctly, Brandon is picked up on it, by an "older" 20 something female rider.) I think I was 16, or 17, and had a Yamaha DT 50... so the K1 was a future sport of tech, and be all end all. Cough cough..wheeze..
