I’m watching this video as a father of a one year old and as an Army combat veteran who just became homeless about 3 hours ago. I’ve been in an abusive relationship with a narcissist. She drained my money. All I have is my car, this phone, and about two weeks income to my name, at least until the divorce occurs. This video came at the right time though. I know things will get better.

Hopefully long story short: when I was 19 my girlfriend (and first true love) of 15 months unceremoniously dumped me. I never saw it coming and was devastated. However, the experience forced me to look inward and deal with the pain I was feeling. It turned out that this was one of the most important experiences of my life (I am now 70 years old) and it helped me mature and learn some valuable life lessons. I found that the process of maturation is learning from your setbacks and working to overcome them. In that regard, this girl did me a big favor. Scott, best wishes in your journey and you’re right: will get better for you.

The rules are also referenced from the books so if you have a particular interest in power or seduction you can go grab that specific book that’s more in detail.

7:29 “you don’t go and get angry at the rock”… so powerful and so true. People will be people, with their own motivations and goals, since everybody is selfishly (understandably so) basically fighting entropy if we want to get it down to physics. This resonates quite strong because just recently listened to a video (one of the hilarious “Tech Lead” sarcastic rants) where he equates everybody to crazy monkeys and dogs going about doing their own thing, as they should… so, with that in mind when a dog bites you, we don’t really get angry at the dog, the dog does what it does, we would likely instead blame ourselves and think about why we didn’t avoid the dog or how could it have been handled better. Instead of dwelling in it. Glad to have bumped into Dr. Greene, fantastic views. This guy is literally saving lives.

The great achievement of Robert Greene has been to get a hopelessly self-centered generation learning about history and exposing them to the ideas of great thinkers by appealing to their own self-interest. The intentionally amoral tone of the books gets people thinking for themselves and creates the kind of notoriety that gets them read. I have run a music school in a drugs-gang controlled favela in Rio de Janeiro for the last 10 years and the 48 Laws, taken with the pinch of salt that the author clearly intended, have been invaluable for staying safe here. Thank you Robert Greene.

Whenever I suffer a setback I try and have the maturity to say to myself, well, that didn’t go as planned, so now what can I learn from it so as to hopefully be more successful next time or at least not repeat the same mistake.

Dear Robert you read my mind. I hope my message won't be lose on the flow of comments.I said you read my mind because 2 days ago I thought it would be great to have your opinion on how to live a good life and an idea came to write you this kind of letter.👇🏼 I'm a 24-year-old student and i wonder a lot about the pattern of life. I often wonder if I'm living my life in the right order and if i won't regret certain things later or if it's getting late already for others. Every time I read and learn something new, I always think how I wish I'd known about it before. I'm about to graduate from medical school and there are so many things I've sacrificed and sometimes I feel like there are things/feelings I could never experience again. I'm also anxious about the future, but I think most people are. What I'd like is for you one day (the sooner the better😅) to write a book about the cycle of life and its different stages. I've read a lot of your books from Power to Mastery through laws of human nature, but none of them talks about life itself on an individual level and how it should ideally be lived. A sort of *How to live* manual or guide. Of course it won't be a general truth but it will be your vision, your opinion, because being one of my favorite authors (if not THE favorite), this opinion would have great importance for me and I don't think I'm the only one... My name is Fustel Tchato, it was a pleasure to write to you. Ps: my favorite philosophers are also Nietzsche, Marcus Aurelius and Arthur Schopenhauer. My apologies in advance for any possible mistakes, I am a native French speaker.

‘Roll with the punches’ ‘It’s not how many time you fall down but if you get back up and try again’ Essentially. It seems much of what is said, seems to sound in rotation, repetition, as it might be so much of what is in circulation and still humans struggle, striving to grasp an understanding, comprehension, implementing what they’ve learned/absorbed from the teachings/lessons of life. As is applicable, when and where, it is important. Essentially making the point, as so much of the same/similar. The journey of life, is tough, can be at times tough. *May The Lord’s strength be our strength, May God’s love comfort.

Dear Robert, do you think there is a danger when people merely regurgitate other people's "ideas" instead of finding inspiration in them and forming our own? I find that there are many "philosophers" today who spew the same thoughts of past masters. I wonder if it is possible to find something new and step out of this verbal quicksand that we are in.

Take heed at what is said @10:45 If this has happened to you, forgive their traspass for they do not know what they do, they are emotionally immature. Once you forgive them, God will deal with them so pray that they regret what they have done to you. Forgiving them does not mean they have to be your best friend, and it's OK and probably best to maybe part ways.
