In our darkest moments, when everything looks lost and we’ve lost all hope, we so often find the true meaning in our suffering; meaning which, once we find the courage to speak up about it, eases our suffering and charts a course to new and beautiful destinations filled with freedom, lightness, and opportunity.
During this immersive and highly emotional TEDx talk, Dan Keeley shares his incredible personal story of adversity and recovery. He highlights the power of speaking up when we’re in our darkest moments; how to move from feeling exhausted and burden on everyone around us, to feeling lighter and empowered and with a wider support network around us whilst also empowering others to speak up about their own pain and adversity.
Dan Keeley is an award-winning mental-health speaker and social activist who ran 1250-miles, solo and self-supported, from Rome to London to share his powerful story of adversity on an international scale and empower thousands of others around the world to speak up when we’re suffering.

As someone who has heard your story first hand it is incredible to hear it again with additional context. You are someone who is very special for all of the work that you do helping others to conquer their own personal challenges. THANK YOU for continuing to raise awareness and champion mental health. Your conversation will connect with so many who are struggling and in that dark space. Stay well my Friend.

The biggest fear is the fear of failure. So what we need to agree upon together, and on a personal level, is to discipline our mindset into realising that there are no failures, there are only results or outcomes. You never fail in life, you always succeed. You succeed in getting results of some sort. The key is what we do with those results.

Four years, seven months and eleven days. Crawling, limping, walking and running by fits and starts. Right behind you Love. Thank you SO MUCH for not only choosing to make the perilous return journey but also for providing a MIGHTY slipstream for the miles of fellow warriors coming bravely but often blindly along the path you are helping to hack, clear and light. Myself gratefully included.

This is one of the most emotional TEDx talk I've ever seen! Thank you for being raw, honest and authentic Dan Keeley. I don't know other bipolar people but Gosh! You've been through a lot. Your message is so powerful - do meaningful courageous conversations. From personal experience I can only say that they, indeed, open loads of hearts and gently push others to speak up. Now THAT is empowering. Thank you Dan! Brilliant, Brilliant talk
