My aunt is in her second year of dementia, and it has been rough. I was close to her as a child but we grew apart as I grew into an adult. When I saw her after a long time on Christmas 2019, she seemed different. She was quiet, and she seemed so small. She talked to me one time, and it was just one sentence, "You know, my church is a reconciliation church" in reference to my rainbow socks. When I saw her again a few months ago, she was silent. She relied on her husband completely. The way he encouraged her to participate reminded me of a parent encouraging a shy child. It sounds like your family had similar supportive figures in it to help your grandma through her last years, and I'm glad. The members of our family that are not in denial are already going through the mourning process as if she had already died. I hope she has a calm, peaceful death when the time comes. I'm glad your grandma was granted a peaceful death. I'm sorry for the struggles your family went through. It's really hard.

I know it's not alzheimers, but the reason why these albums hit me so hard is that I have neuro degenerative epilepsy, and this is what my entire adolescent and teenage life feels like I don't remember anything after I turned 12 before 19 and I only get glimpses here and there of it And it fucking terrifies me I'm going to keep losing parts of my life So I've gone into Healthcare as a career and obsess over keeping my brain healthy I'm tired.

I'm super glad actually that everywhere at the end of time became a "meme" Now people are more people are aware of alzheimer's and that really makes me happy because hopefully a few of them can work out a way for people to not have to go through the things my great grandfather had to go through forgetting everyone and everything, honestly a fate truly worse then death. And also thank you for talking about this whole music project because otherwise I would never come close to knowing just how much of a hell dementia/ alzheimer's is

yeah well, I wish that was the case, some of the new people discovering this through the memes might go deeper into the meaning and take something from it. But to me it feels like most of the "newcomers" only see EATEOT as _scary spooky music challenge aka this is what dementia feels like_

Weirdly enough, “I feel as if I might be vanishing” is my least favorite song in the album, with my favorite being “Mental caverns without sunshine” being my favorite piece(s). I legitimately always cry when I listen to that piece, because it just perfectly shows how lonely the patient is, a feeling I’m also familiar with. With it being so lonely, it’s also so very… oddly calming. It comforts me when I feel at my lowest.

When I was little, I always thought dementia was a part of everyone’s end of life. My maternal grandmother had dementia when she was just 60 years old, and died right before my birthday in 1st grade. I was just scared to grow up. I know now that that really isn’t the case, but it made every other things kids my age feared just… pale in comparison. As an 8 year old kid, my fears were developing dementia, having a heart attack, hearing screaming through the walls (trauma related,) or kids laughing (was severely bullied as a kid.) It’s funny that as a kid, one of my birthday wishes was to remember my 1st grade birthday.

Credit where credit is due, you did introduce me to the Caretaker's projects. And after I first attempted the 6 hour listen in one sitting (took me several tries until I finally had the guts to sit through stage 4-6 in April), I found the first track from Empty Bliss and I was intrigued and faintly melancholy. My mom and my girlfriend outright told me it was beautiful but wanted me to turn it off. Couldn't even argue. All the coping memes aside, this album before the Big Guy is such a profound experience. I'm glad I'm in a good place with life because now I can appreciate them so much more. You're great, broski. Never get sick of your content.

I remember randomly finding An Empty Bliss some time in 2017 (although I could've heard it earlier, I can't quite remember... lol), and hearing that opening track immediately hooked me in. I remember listening to it in full and just being engrossed and almost hypnotized by it from start to finish. I actually find this particular more melancholic than I do scary, especially compared to Everywhere at the End of Time. It's almost weirdly comforting, buuut that might just be me. I remember looking into more of Leyland Kirby's work not long after hearing this for the first time and being fascinated by it all (Fun fact: the guy has made some incredibly silly sample based stuff that is worlds apart from his work as The Caretaker). He is an incredible artist, and People really should check out more of his work. Also: ANDYL4ND Is excellent, and that Minecraft version of An Empty Bliss / Everywhere is also honestly great.

yeah i can relate to those flashbacks. a day after i finished the album i lowkey joked about dementia with my friends, but the song still played in my head, i went on instagram and the first thing i saw was an "EATEOT" meme. man that hit me.

Speaking of the warning you give at the beginning of the video, listening to the caretaker messed me up. Whenever I hear it, the terrors I had as a child about hidden monsters in the dark come out, I can only listen to this type of stuff like out in the open in the middle of day. I can’t explain why, but it does.

Side note, I still listen to it on occasion, and this was an enjoyable video. The caretaker is great at what he does

For anyone intimidated by Everywhere At The End Of Time's length, it should be noted that each stage was originally released 6 months apart. Don't be afraid to break the series up across multiple sessions--just make sure you listen to each individual stage in order, and from start to finish.

Only listened to empty bliss mostly because it’s shorter but I’ve been meaning listen to “everywhere at the end of time” for a long time.

I ended up clicking through some of the music in the album I still couldn't listen to anything for more than 5 minutes it frightened me in ways I simply cannot describe I think I listened much more than I first realized because by the time I clicked ESC to exit fullscreen it was already nighttime I'm honestly confused and my feeling have never been more conflicted
