It’s not a country album; it’s a Beyonce album. The album is a masterpiece and takes you on a genre-bending melodic journey from beginning to end. It's an eclectic mix of melodic music with 80's influence, gospel, rap, folk, country, 60’s era rock and roll, and rock-n-roll. She's trying to break out of the box of the genres. I listened to the entire album in one sitting. It’s a work of art and meant to be listened to as a body of work not just individual tracks. One must have an appreciation for art and the creative process to appreciate this admirable body of work. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I will say this: i personally cant listen to it all the way through however this album is solid. Its cohesive. Beyonce needed diversity and something different. Its very refreshing. I love the cohesiveness of the album and story-telling. This is what im used to as a music fan. However, this is NOT a country album. Beyonce even says so. Its a Beyonce album, so the naysayers who said “she isnt country” actually win the argument. Calling this a “beyonce album” is smart and gives her wiggle room to experiment and do whatever she wants. I appreciate her dive into the racism in the cma community. Black ppl in country music have a powerful history, and powerful voices but also a history of sadness and rejection. I DO have my own theory of why Beyonce was rejected and I do think it was more than just racism (we dont really KNOW her. Shes barely flirted with country music until Daddy Lessons and shes a symbol of RnB/Femme-Pop. She is a brand of hip-hop and afrocentricism and by Lemonade her fanbase seemed rather exclusive and niched. She as an artist is free to do whatever she wants however she is also a brand and when her choices dont line up with her brand, she may not be received well). So again this is NOT a country album. This album contains rap music and some songs are acoustic-pop rather than country. Im a black female who used to listen to both acoustic-pop and country music on the low in high school so i wouldnt be made fun of so I know the difference😂 I think this album is JUST ENOUGH country for Beyonce fans. They will definitely eat this up. They also seem new to concept albums and story-telling, symbolism, metaphors, poetry put to music. Im not. Beyonces last three albums have been rather poetically or prose-esque written. How it compares to other artists ive heard….??? Its definitely better and more listenable than Renaissance 1 (i feel like the purpose of that album didnt translate well) but i give Act II a B or 80% bc this is an adulterated attempt at what was marketed as “country” and then some tracks are just forgettable but not horrible. I enjoyed some songs tho including the one where shes rapping. A good album. Is it album of the year? Yes and no. I honestly dont know this time. I need to listen to it a few more times

I've been listening to county for years and am a huge fan of Shania Twain and Carrie Underwood, which have had similar styles to this Beyonce album. It sounds country to me with some hints of country-pop.

Act 2 is a very creative body of work, but I only like 4 songs, and I've been listening to those same 4 songs, since the album dropped. To be honest, the remaining album is trash, due to Beyonce's horrible vocals. Don't mean to sound mean, but it's the truth, in my opinion. She botched Jolene. I cant listen to it. Now, if you disagree with me, and love the album, like many do, that's fine. But this assessment is my perspective. Doesn't have to be anybody else's, and no, I will not change my mind on how I feel. I really wanted to like this album, because I was looking forward to it, but I just can't get with it. It's dreadful. Sorry to say. 🤷

OMG, I just listened to the whole entire CD in its entirety. PAINFUL to listen to, It was absolutely horrible. One song "Bodyguard" was not that terrible, but the rest of it I did not like at all. I do not like her voice I now realize and I don't find her music pleasant to listen to. I would never want to hear this CD again, me and my spouse both sat here and listened to it and both agreed, painful was the only word we can come up with.
