Now we have confirmed that Captain Marvel was only successful because it was advertised as a must-watch for Endgame, and not because anyone cared about the character. It wasn't the best movie but it wasn't that bad either better than the last Thor movie. She also added something to the dynamic with Brie Larson which made her seem a lot more likeable I just wish there was more backstory to the villain but 3.5 out of 5 Stars

In the comics I’m sure they’re different but live action movie men, men can kind of relate to them by default and can admire them but I can’t relate to any of these characters at all or their backstories, or their every day problems. I believe the reason Marvel isn't doing so well is that all the superheroes the general public know of have told their stories. Stan Lee is no longer around to help shape the movies and do a cameo for each film. The presenter was right that no one likes to do homework before seeing a film to understand it.

As a man and a fan, I wanted this movie to be so good. I wanted to support it. I always thought these critics are wrong. So I went out to watch it in 4dx. It's objectively a terrible movie, and that's fine to like it, but not only do most not like it but it makes factual mistakes like did you not notice how they're supposed to switch when they use powers at the same time but that doesn't always happen? Cause the writers probably forgot. And if you have to create some justification in your mind for why it's okay, that's still a problem in the writing. And even good movies have those problems, so that doesn't kill the movie itself, but that's just one in a list of things wrong with the film.

@@eldenvedetta635 Well said. Wanted to enjoy this one, but the script was poorly written and the film was poorly edited and executed. Several scenes show the characters with fresh makeup and hair from just coming from a tumultuous ordeal [e.g., when the three females landed the ship in that field]. Zero threat in the weak plot and from the villain so no one was in any real danger. Nick Fury, relegated to a bland comedic sidekick, could have been omitted and it wouldn't have affected the story. Valkyrie appearing made little sense because she and Danvers didn't interact beforehand [well, it's insinuated because they were both in the final battle in Endgame; and yet, so were others, so why didn't they appear?]. A character such as Thor appearing would have made sense because he and Danvers had direct interaction at the beginning of Endgame.

Brie Larson is a great actor, who just killed it in Lessons in Chemistry! The problem is studios over-saturating the market with one ''People wearing tights'' movie after another to the exclusion of too many conventional films getting made. The public has been complaining about this for a long time but no one listens. No less than Martin Scorsese, who hits it out of the park every time, had to go begging to Netflix to get The Irishman made! If The Marvels had come out 5 years ago, it probably would have done well at the box office but I think The Marvels and Brie Larson are failing now because they're too late to the game and the consumer market is turning. Nothing last forever.

Personally, the fact that (with only a few exceptions) everything MCU which had come out post-Phase III had been mediocre *at best* aside, I just had no interest spending money on going to the cinema watching a movie that teams up 1) The unlikeable Main Character from one of my least favourite pre-Endgame-Films, 2) The Main Character from a Show I didn't even watch, and 3) a secondary Character from a mediocre show whose most memorbable moment was the scene where she said one of the worst lines I've ever heard in my entire life.

I promise you, not being able to promote the movie did nothing to harm it. In fact, it likely helped as it took away chances for Brie I-don't-deserve-an-academy-award Larson to open her mouth and make people hate her and the movie even more than they already do. People don't watch a movie because of a Jimmy Fallon promotion. In fact, no one really watches those idiotic late night shows anymore; they're relics of a bygone era and if Marvel doesn't start appeasing the fans and very soon, Marvel will be a relic of a bygone era too!

Honestly even if they do. I realized for every "Spiderman" quality movie they produce, they'll use that money to produce 3 horrible movies. So I'm not paying for their GOOD quality movies either until they have a TRACK record of good movies instead of it being a rarity.
