I will have to harvest some Daphnia when the water in our lakes are warm enough. We don't find Daphnia near shore as you do. Here we go out in a boat or canoe. We have a special net with a container attached in the middle. We tow it behind us and it catches the Daphnia. About half an hour and we will get a jar of Daphnia! Once clean and without water is about half of a cup!

I do believe that daphnia is the best food specially for raising fry they grow the fastest when they eat daphnia, however aside from native guppy you should also be careful not to introduce native chana specie a.k.a. snakehead together with your fry or else your fry will become the food. Thank you for sharing. Your fish are Gorgeous! Many of us could only wish we had access to such an abundance of Daphnia in our backyard, or our neighbor's backyard. In New York City, the weather alone makes growing Daphnia difficult, plus very few of us have backyards. There are other potential live food sources out there (White worms, Microworms, Grindleworms Baby brine shrimp,Earth Worms , and the like). But these need to be purchased through various online vendors, or through Aquarium club auctions. I am glad that the Daphnia is readily available in your area. It makes your job far easier. Keep up the great work.

Yes you can breed them sadiq, as long as the water is clean and u have some plants real or artificial, spawning mops or whatever hard things for their eggs to lay.. but i suggest for u to research before doing it.
