The Adventures with Bill is the best part. The guy who plays Bill does an amazing job. The looks on his face, that smile and what happens all combine to create the funniest parts of this show. I remember when this was on PBS I used to always enjoy the Adventures with Bill the most. I still find Bill hilarious.

It's interesting seeing some of these older episodes for the first time. Especially seeing some characters who didn't stick around for the later seasons, as well as some who's first appearance was much sooner than I would've expected. Of course, the same can also be said about the segments.

I remember many years ago watching this show on PBS with my Dad. We didn't have cable and those were the days of antenna's so we didn't even have good reception. We laughed and laughed because this show is so zany it's hilarious! I'm thankful for youtube so that I can watch old shows. Also thankful for Amazon instant and Netflix. To this day as an adult i STILL don't have cable as I refuse to pay the outrageous prices to get only a few channels I enjoy. Although I would like The Food Network.

That was so enjoyable! Steve Smith (Red) and Rick Green (Bill) both went to my Alma mater, the University of Waterloo. Red Green put on a show for us one year, and I went to see it. I got a roll of duct tape, which he autographed, but the ink wiped off too easily. Still, that duct tape lasted me for nearly 20 years.

The “Jack and his hockey stick in the underground cave” sketch is funny. In the uproar of late 2020, it is reassuring to be reminded that people have been predicting the breakdown of civilization for a long, long time. (But I admit that even we have been keeping a larger stock of canned foods on hand than we did way back in 2019.)

I was watching the movie Bowfinger, with Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy. I had never noticed before, but the character of Jiff seems to be possibly inspired by early Harold Green. The hair, the glasses, the fidgeting, the rambling, the big teeth... when hes introduced, hes wearing a red shirt with two vertical green stripes, like suspenders...... very interesting.

Well I guess I can answer the question after six years (even though you probably found out already). We once used imperial exclusively (and not u.s customary imperial), for a long time, and now we have a mixed system where lots of building plans, and trades work is done in imperial, and we use metric for food, and volume, velocity, and long distances. A person is just as likely to use metric or imperial for anything over 200 pounds unless they work in any medical,or sports related profession,it's also not unusual to meet somebody that uses imperial for distance up until a kilometer (which is strange because they go inches, feet, yards, kilometers). What else... Automotive trades are 90% metric but I imagine it's like that in the states aswell, and any government job besides a trades related positions will use only metric. I can't speak much to our aerospace manufacturing, but I think it's fair to assume that's done in metric. I hope even though you probably found some of this out,I was still able to give you some good insight into how strange our measuring system really is.
