Hi friends! At the end of the video when I am discussing Shannon’s sibling and friend I accidentally misgendered them! They both go by they/them pronouns. I unfortunately can’t edit the video now in KZbin but if you mention either of them in the comments please be respectful of there correct pronouns and I apologize for not seeing that sooner.

i've always appreciated how inclusive and respectful you strive to be when talking about vulnerable groups. ngl, as a nonbinary person myself it's always quite anxiety-inducing and painful to hear misgendering even when it's not directed at me, but thank you for acknowledging your mistake and pinning this comment. i also must inform you that "preferred pronouns" is generally seen as a microaggression ("correct pronouns" or just "pronouns" is better), which i'm sure you weren't aware of since i don't think you would have used the term if you'd known. you might also want to use the word "sibling" instead of "sister".

@@katelyno.9841 if someone uses gender-neutral pronouns, it's a fairly safe bet they also use gender-neutral words, like sibling instead of sister. this is not the case for everyone, though, as we are all different; some nonbinary folks are fine with traditionally gendered words, such as wife. most people tend to appreciate it if you ask them how you should refer to them.

The fact that Emily had to lay out the “proof” of her SA reminds me so much of the Jesse Smiles situation. Can we stop making victims relive their trauma over and over again, and for what? There should never have been a reason for Emily to go into this crazy amount of detail, it’s just disgusting that we live in this world. Quick call out I think many people (including Shannon) overlook: People who are abused are more susceptible to abuse in the future. So Shannon's point of "Well Emily has claimed multiple people abused her so she must be lying" is bogus. Abusers look for people who are vulnerable and who don't know any better. Especially if Emily was addicted to drugs, she would have appeared incredibly vulnerable to abusers.

As a survivor of DV, let me tell you - until someone on the outside gently let me know what I was experiencing was abuse, after years of it from multiple partners, and I began the slow process of re-educating myself on what healthy relationships look like - it feels almost like abusers are working from a secret handbook, helping each other out in a way, brainwashing you so that you are even more vulnerable to your next partner, who gets in there even deeper thanks to the groundwork that has already been laid to mess up your thinking even further. Very few victims of DV are one-timers. Most of us spend years trying to learn who we can trust not to hurt us (partners AND friends) and sadly, many of us settle for abuse lite (after walking away from full-strength abuse) for all our lives because we don't know what else to do.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Anthony has pitted Shannon against Emily for years. Men like that love to isolate you, by either telling all their friends how YOURE the controlling one, or making you so insecure and jealous with their constant comparing of you to other women they liked/are in their life that you genuinely turn into a shitty person after years of your self esteem being torn down by them. They make you do their “dirty work” and use you to get back at women they were interested in before you by making you think it was your idea, that the girl deserved it etc. Not saying Shannon isn’t to blame, but there’s clearly a puppet master here. Im sure a lot of what Shannon did was partially Anthony’s idea, or he encouraged it. Now shannon is exactly where he wants her: alone, no career, friends, or support. Only him. Emily’s trauma response makes a lot of sense to me, her flipping the story so that she’s in the abusers place might help her understand “why” someone would do those actions to her. Same. I've done that with abusive and toxic relationships and friendships. I totally agree. I also think it has something to do with power and control as well. Emily's traumatic past highlights her lack of control over her life through multiple instances. She's been a victim in many instances. When she flipped the scenarios and told them from the abusers pov, not only was it her trying to understand what happened from their perspective, but she was also trying to control the situation. I have personally never done what she did with the story time videos, but lack of control in my youth has made me more adamant about the control I have now. And I've known people who were abused who took on their abusers persona because they wanted to feel like they had the power for once.

It's not just the possibility of a psycho stalker like Creepshow being out there. Its a true crime channel and the voice sounds so much like anthony. And when i commented that on the first few videos when the channel came out, some chick who i think was Shannon wrote on my comment that it sounds nothing like anthony. I dont have the resources to figure it out, if its really him or not. But shannon said herself that she was making 20k a month and thats not a hard reach to pay for the advertising to get a channel to grow quickly so that they dont have a loss of income that extensive. Funnily enough, that channel opened the same day shannon posted that monstrosity. Hear me out on this. I think the fact that Shannon is taking legal action against Emily proves that Amy does not exist. Serving Emily implies that she blames her exclusively for her loss of subs and income. If Shannon's asinine story about Amy spoofing her IP is in any way factual and Amy was doing the lolcow post, she would have been the one to set this all into motion, not Emily. And Shannon does make a "point" in her video to show that Emily is not Amy. She isn't going after Amy because she knows Amy isn't real and that she made those lolcow posts, therefore causing her own cancelation. Even then, she doesn't go after lolcow for exposing her despite claiming she's innocent of those accusations. There were two "people" or parties before Emily ever got involved. I think this is one reason Shannon didn't address the lolcow situation in her response. But I fully believe that by not holding Amy or lolcow accountable for what she accuses them of, she actually admitting that Amy is fabricated and she DID make those posts. Any investigation of such would lead directly back to her!

I went to court with my friend who was getting a restraining order against her stalker ex, and he used stuff she posted on fb (that he was blocked on) and the fact that she kicked a 7 year old boy (when she was also 7) to prove she was a bad person and that somehow negated the insane stuff he was actively doing. Stalkers have a bunch of random “evidence” BECAUSE THEY ARE STALKERS. It’s literally only a tactic that a guilty person uses. Like why did he have screenshots of her social media? I lied about my sober date too (I felt if I was honest I would lose everything good I had left in my life) and we are DEFINITELY not alone in doing that. Especially if you are achievement-oriented, and place a lot of importance on being successful, competent, and trustworthy. It's ironic that the desire to be dependable and trustworthy would cause so many people to lie and risk being the worst kinds of undependable, but that's perfectionism for you. Eta: btw often we aren't wrong to think that the cost of being open about our addiction is way too high. There is such a stigma on addiction, even more if you are female, that honesty is not always as wonderful as its made out to be. One thing Hannah brought up that I think is really important to note: Shannon's emphasis on presenting her accusations as fact. That has *always* been a key factor in Shannon's videos; her conviction. She has *always* presented *everything* she says as fact, and she built her channel on the premise that sheer confidence = truth. imo it's as good a time as any for the community as a whole to develop more discerning standards when it comes to commentary channels, especially those that are monetized.

Regarding the split orange-black hair situation, I have a very interesting take on it... One of by best friend's closest friend at the time was obsessed with her boyfriend's close (female) friend. So much so, anytime we went to a cafe or any other public place, she would CONSTANTLY refresh this person's feed, mock ANYTHING she would do (from the college she went to, to the perfume she would use) and then she would buy HER EXACT SAME PHONE CASE, PERFUME, COAT, would cut her hair just like her, would adapt her own Twitter bio to that person's, pose like her on the pictures and would basically talk sh*t behind her. One day, this "copied/impersonated" person tweeted and said "I feel sorry for the losers that are jealous of their boyfriends' close friends and ask them to cut them off their lives". When she saw this tweet, she CRIED like mad crazy and then confessed to my best friend that "she had no personality of her own, she had no hobbies, interests, sense of style, basically no nothing". So my guess is, if someone close to Shannon digged deeper into her pictures/stories/interests etc, there might be a high possibility that she was copying Emily in terms of every single thigh she liked/did/thought etc. So this orange-black hair is not a far fetch Hannah, I am pretty sure that's only the surface of a huge iceberg... This would explain why she flat-out stole the title of Emily's sketchbook story time, her way of filming KZbin videos, pretending to care about mental health, being sensitive and quote on quote "woke" while leaving horrible transphobic comments on lolcow because she was not only imitating Emily in terms of her physical appearance, but also revolving her whole (internet) persona around one main thing on her mind: "What would Emily do in this situation? What would Emily say now? What does Emily think about this mental health issue?" I know that this creates a sense of distrust for you because if someone is capable of impersonating someone and hiding their real thoughts, how are you supposed to trust to let new people into your life, especially KZbin/parasocial-based friends? But be at ease, those people are horrible when it comes to covering their tracks. If you had visited her in like her own house or hang out with her more than once, you'd at one point find her either talking about Emily in a bad way or stalking her while being around you. Also people like these are always extremely tentative when it comes to collaborating in a group setting, they get easily irritated and want things to be in the way they want, I assume you never click with people like these so you don't have nothing to worry about. Love you, and I enjoy your podcast as well ❤️❤️❤️

No amount of mulling it over will ever make it make sense to me but yes, I was also the target of a chick like this. She repeatedly cried to me about her envy or alternatively cattily fought me on all my hobbies from choir to art and yoga to hiking, acting like i was competing against her just by doing something on my own (we lived in different cities)... wanted to monitor and control whatever shows i watched or books i read or places i went to or people i met... Started to talk and write the way I do online (or at the least the way she interpreted my mannerisms)... Finally she accused me of 'Conspiring against her' (her words) just by having other friends??? Apparentlyshe also made me the topic of her therapist's sessions. When I cut her off completely and blocked her on all social medias she spent ten months making sockpuppet accounts trying to get to me. So as insane as it sounds, people like that really do exist. Honestly I feel like this goes beyond anthony, since Emily was always very public with her social media (including her names or variations or her name in usernames, personal profile photo) that Shannon stumbled upon emily long before she met anthony, probably fueled an inital obsession but only started to stalk her when she got with him because it was funny to Anthony to see Emily be genuinely scared and freaked out. I wouldn't be surprised if Shannon started working at Anthony's job to become closer to him and by association Emily. This is what happens when the only person giving you feedback is the one who wants to torture his ex-gf. But, I don't think her goal was ever to defend herself. It was a hit piece. Emily said on Swoop's doc that they actually gave her the biggest gift ever, because now they have nothing to hold over her. She's free. So, a backfire of biblical proportions. Makes me wonder though if Anthony's gonna dump Shannon now, since he has no more use for her. The game is over and the gravy train's dried up. People like this tend to devalue and discard people after they've gotten what they wanted. I know that has nothing to do with any of this. Just that I've seen this dynamic up-close and personal.

I think one of the biggest problem was that Shannon had no empathy to Emily. A normal person would understand, okay Emily had a troubled past and most would say, I hope she is doing better now. And with the stalking allegations, Shannon did not even deny it. She just hammered on about how Emily is a terrible person. But without saying, I did not stalk her and I hope Emily can resolve this matter, somehow and I will do everything I can to show her I did not harass or stalk her. All her video did was just to desperately cling to Emily and how she is a bad person. How she went against tipster showed her true colors too. She should have said to Tipster, Anthony and I are handling this privately so he did not want his name to be out there right now. But instead she ranted about Tipster in the original doc and in the video. Just to add. I do think Anthony is playing a massive role in this. He is basically the reason why Emily is being stalked and why Shannon devotedly protects him. He enjoys this attention.

On the topic of Emily retelling trauma from a different perspective, this actually makes perfect sense as a response to trauma. One of the major responses to trauma is actually reliving it, both voluntarily and involuntarily. You have things like PTSD nightmares and flashbacks, and you also have fantasising about it going a different way. A lot of us have fantasised about "being saved" in traumatic moments where we change what happened. It makes perfect sense for Emily to retell the trauma from a different perspective as a way to process and heal from trauma.

It was that typical failed artist thing of blaming their failure on how unoriginal the "scene" is, acting as if they're too good for it all. Trying to dig at Tipster by focusing on his videos made me think, again, "Oh, that's Anthony". I mean, it's not like Shannon's videos were exactly inspired or original, lol. Maybe not, but it all reminded me of the little we know about Anthony.

When Shannon is talking about her stalker Amy, she says she made up the name Amy to protect the person's identity but then brings up screenshots of emails where the name says Amy. It seems that Shannon forgot her own lie since the screenshots weren't edited

shannon’s entire video did nothing but prove emily right lmao. the fact that she has all of these screenshots dating back to when emily was 13 and put together some weird timeline of emily’s addiction just proves that she is a stalker. and her defence of her husband hinging on her viewers not being able to subtract 3 from 6 is… choices were made. also the fact that shannon’s entire gig is trying to come off as being morally superior when she’s not only a big fan of throwing around homophobic, transphobic and ableist slurs, but refuses to even acknowledge, let alone deny, any of it is very funny to me.

i don’t know any of the people involved in the story at all, never heard of them all apart from this whole thing. but this persons behaviour is exactly like the online stalkers i had. they once went through my instagram and made an excel spreadsheet attempting to add up all the different nail polishes i wore over like, a 3 year period. they then used this spreadsheet to try and ‘prove’ that i was lying about being disabled and working class because i could afford nail polish…it was absolutely insane. and yet i was supposedly the weird one in the situation that deserved merciless harassment lol

Found this video by accident, but am very glad I did. I suffer from major ptsd from a very long string of events when I was younger. I am working through everything, but I wanted to say Thank You! One of my responses and coping mechanisms while recounting events is to put myself in the opposite role. It's not pleasant for most recounts, but it does help. I also know that my use, and events, are nothing like Emily's, and we more than likely use the method differently. Personally, it makes me feel a whole lot smaller than I felt being in my own role. There is no confidence boost for me, no powerful feeling of being in the aggressors shoes.... However, the method of switching from victim to aggressor perspective helps me really really strongly hit the conclusion that there is no answer to the question "Why?" that would validate anything I had gone through. My aggressors had no reason that I can fathom for the abuse I went through. So, thank you for saying that it's not a false way to work through trauma.

just in regards to coping mechanisms to trauma, i just wanted to add my own experience to the pot: i personally processed my own trauma from when i was 13 by obsessively reading fiction that dealt with the issue from the abuser’s perspective, i think so that i could try and understand their point of view and empathise with them - and that’s the way i coped, bc if i didn’t understand them and what might have led to them doing the things they did, then i couldn’t process what they had done to me. it also helped me to read stories in the perspective of the abuser where they would go through complex guilt over what they’d done, bc it sort of gave me the feeling of closure and admittance of wrongdoing that i never got in real life. that was extremely important and formative to me moving past my trauma, so i can really understand why emily flipped the perspective in some of her storytimes, and i absolutely hate the idea of anyone policing trauma responses.

I will say I can see how it would be easier to explain being a victim in the flipped narrative. it's easier to disassociate as well as a reminder that this person was at fault and did very deliberate things to harm you. I think it's a interesting way to help forgive yourself if you look at it that way.

Shannon's video was so utterly insane. Especially because a lot of her "evidence" really isn't proof at all but merely Shannon drawing her own conclusions from social media posts alone - many of which are a huge stretch, or even outright fabricated. Also I like how evidently to Shannon, Anthony's word alone is solid enough proof. He said he didn't do these things, so that settles that. Which is absolutely disgusting considering she posited herself frequently and regularly as an advocate/ally for victims of abuse, to believe victims. The hypocrisy is astounding.

Great video, as always! Not sure if you're aware, as Shannon constantly intentionally misgenders them, but both her sibling Jem and her former friend Loki Coulter/coultergeist (formerly Kevin) are non binary and use they/them not she/her or he/him. The way Shannon refuses to use their correct pronouns in the video or google doc has meant that a lot of people covering this situation have unintentionally misgendered them as well, and I feel like this just adds further proof that the lolcow posts were made by Shannon

Love your video Hannah, but as a quick lil reminder, Shannon has a sibling. Back when they spoke out, they clarified that they identify as nonbinary, Shannon just continually misgenders them. The same can be said about the other individual who came out, they also identify as nonbinary and Shannon uses their deadname. I'm not yelling at you about it, I know that with Shannon's video being the most recent info in our minds it can be easy to just go with those pronouns. I hope your foot recovers fully and am very sorry for your loss. Edit: Pin is now up. Ladies, Gentlemen, and Distinguished Guests, we got 'em.

I should also mention that the emails you talk about at about 59:00 are signed off as "Amy" while Shannon has stated multiple times, including in the community post talking about Lolcow, that Amy is not the real name of the person who stalked her and she changed their name to protect their privacy. So why are the emails signed off as Amy? And why would she have emails from 2006?

The fact that Emily believed Shannon was projecting and role reversing about the "Amy" stalker video in the same way Emily was doing specifically regarding the video about dating a 13 year old makes complete sense now. I do believe she was right on the money about that detail and it's crazy to think about in hindsight of everything that's transpired. Even Shannon's shit talk on lolcow and how she hinted that "someone" was archiving all of Emily's old videos despite the community's indifference and disregard of Emily as much of a lolcow worth paying attention to at the time really speaks volumes about how sloppy and vengeful she really was and still is. Her video script reads like a lolcow screed of someone vehemently trying to defend themselves by pointing at others. Jesus she needs some help.

I find it amusing that all of this started effectively because Shannon was being a “bad friend”. Yes, Shannon doxxed her sibling, but how many people were outraged about that? People were upset because their favs were upset. I personally don’t give a shit about her bad mouthing her friends. It’s the Emily stuff that makes my blood boil. I’ve had a stalker and it’s the most horrible feeling, a deep feeling of dread that never leaves you. I’ve been upset that people might tear apart Emily’s video but this is not that, thanks Hannah. I’m so happy Emily has taken her power back.

Incredibly thorough video! The point you made about being young and growing up during a time where we didn't realize the internet would be forever is so true. It's truly upsetting that people will judge others on the content they posted when they were children. When I went to university and got my first job I started googling myself and sweating because I know that I interacted with shady people online and look back and feel incredibly unsafe about the stuff I was posting. What you did when you were 13 on the Internet should not be how we judge each other when we're 20 or 30.

The thing with the college friend: correct me if I’m wrong but at this point in her life (when Shannon was in college) but isn’t Shannon’s story that she didn’t know who Emily was, or at least didn’t know much about her? So how is that if that’s the case, how was it that she was close friends with someone whom she says was actually the one who was obsessed with Emily, and was pretty much stalking her. Like how do you know that but don’t really know who Emily is? Or why not mention it to Emily when Emily contacted her about the stalking when she was suggesting others that it could be?! Like how are you that aware of the level of obsession that a close friend has with someone but then you’re also saying that you barely know the person, or at least didn’t really know them at the time? I know if someone came to me accusing me of stalking them & I actually knew someone who had stalked them & id seen evidence of that through my friendship with them I’d be like - fck no, I’m not. But fyi , my friend that I think is toxic af that I don’t hang out with at all anymore was totally obsessed with you back in the day. ALSO - on that subject, Shanthony spends a significant portion of the video trying to point finger at different communities that could have been involved in Emily’s harassment but somehow only mentions that she had first hand knowledge of someone who was “the one who actually watched Emily’s videos and was interested in Emily, not me!” when she needs to as a way to deflect from her college friends accusations. ALSO, ALSO - if I had a friend who was super obsessed or stanning, or whatever the case of someone who was my boyfriends ex, it would absolutely have been a topic of conversation. Unless of course we’re back at the fact that Shannon didn’t really know much about Emily etc

When someone has an addiction or is edging towards it, one of the things that a lot of addicts go through is the denial stage. A lot of the time when someone is struggling addiction aswell, they try to convince others and also themselves that they don't have an addiction so it makes complete sense that there's not a specific timeline. Also in terms of someone suffering abuse, role reversal is actually a way of distancing yourself from the situation and making it easier to talk about so that also makes sense! I don't know who's telling the truth and honestly I don't know either of them but I think to scrutinise someone on their drug addiction or trauma is a disgusting thing to do without hard evidence that the person is being dishonest.
