​@@w0rmblood323 I don't speedrun. I rarely, if ever, watch speedruns. I consume these WR History videos like there's no tomorrow. ThaRixer, Abyssoft, Salt, Speed Docs, all of them. They're so good and just getting a glimpse at a side of gaming I don't actively keep up with is so incredibly nice. Constantly in awe of the skill on display and how it evolves over the years for these games.

It's pretty hypocritical and pathetic, really. DKC3 is Nintendo content...and they made videos using it...and then copyright claimed the speedrun documentary? Are they really that oblivious to their pot-calls-kettle-black actions?

Money that's the only reason, they're basically abusing the copyright system. This definitely falls under fair use as the documentary is adding commentary and modifying the video

As much as we agree that what we did and how we used that runners video was in line with fair use, KZbin copyright claim system is in place to protect copyright holders and not content creators.

DKC2 is my favorite platformer of all time, but dkc3 is up there. Besides Super Mario World, it's one of the first games I remember beating completely and really finding EVERYTHING before the internet existed. That 103% felt special. The DKC games are the only ones I've ever considered running just because I know them front to back

To me, this is horse manure. I am all for protecting personal information but a person who is doing something with the intent on being recognized by others should not have the ability to demand their name be stricken from the record. Now a glitch hunter is different because they don't have to tie a name to their achievements but a speedrunner who is asking for their time to be recognized on the record is explicit in giving a name. Alias or real name but a public persona name none the less.

The runner uploaded their PB to KZbin's copyright claim system, and had our previous video taken down. To prevent them for being able to abuse the system again, we removed all mention of them, while maintaining the continuity of the story. We thought this was the best possible course of action from an editorial perspective.

19:45 I remember this GDQ run, and now hearing about all the devoting and goals Morks had, it makes this marathon run overall kinda depressing. I can't remember who, but the commentator for the run was constantly going off about how DKC2 is better than 3 in every way, including speed strats, and comparing it to Melee and Brawl just for extra cringe. It got so bad that after the run he had to go up to the camera WITH Morks and say "No everything's fine with us" since it honestly did come off like this guy just hijacked Morks' entire run for his own weird-ass commentary. Big ups to Morks for never calling him out on it during the run, never even did a "I need you o stop talking" thing, and overall he was very happy the whole time. Maybe he honestly didn't mind, maybe he was just so focused he couldn't care less, or maybe he was annoyed but knew it wasn't worth it to start something. At the very least I really hope that co-commentator told him ahead of time or checked with him; because while I'm not a speed runner, I feel like if I'm spending a lot of time on a game I really want to show off that isn't super popular, having someone next to me go off on why it's not liked while I'm doing my best i incredibly rude.
