@@derkaiser1306 I do hope they don't fall too deep down a British hole like my dear After Work Reactions. It's a bunch of exclusively British stuff over there now, where the references don't always make sense. Karl's a special case, he's universal! I do like British comedy and British humour, and I'm Canadian - not so far off totally, i'm guessing we're half like the Brits and half like Americans culturally. They made a polite baby! Anyways, I hope the channel does keep more Karl and dabbles in Britain - but stays diverse.

@@imravegod Exactly, there's so many little nuances missing also that are hilarious. Educating Ricky, Rockbusters, & Cheeky Freak of the Week is a treasure trove of comedy missing from the animation. Imo the xfm broadcasts + the podcasts are the greatest podcasts of all time. I don't get bored of them like other podcasts & radio shows. Been listening for over 10 years.

Notice: when Karl is talking about getting a stomach ache from eating too many plums, Suzanne comes over and puts an ashtray on his stomach. This is in reference to a previous story Karl told that when members of his family had a stomach ache, their remedy was to put a "cold glass ashtray" on it to "calm it down". Such a deep visual cut there...

Actually, for the first time, the bit where Karl talks about taking the dictionary with him to a desert island struck me as quite poignant. He's trying to explain that he doesn't feel confident with his vocab and he's opening up a bit, but they(not so much Steve, more Ricky) just shriek at him as though it's the most ridiculous idea to take along the dictionary. Which it clearly isn't: it's a perfectly sensible choice.

@@Thetruepianoman From what I can gather, Karl often raises questions over things like "am I in charge on my brain, or is my brain in charge of me". This also raises the philosophical issue of free Will v determinism. Karl says things that make it sound like his 'mind' and maybe the 'mind' of things like his feet and eyes, have their own agency. Ricky believes that there are no souls or spirits or a person controlling everything. The only thing to Ricky that exists is matter. The mind is generated by the brain.

Oh my god, I think Karl is on to something. Like, a better example is people with depression or anxiety, who genuinely want to do something and have the thought and desire to do it, but then they aren't able to take action and do what they've thought of because of the impact of anxiety/depression on the motivation functions of the brain, or because there are physical effects of anxiety and depression (heart, energy metabolism, etc) which can then cause problems when that person really wants to do something they've thought up, but can't physically do it. Now, I don't think people with mental health problems should be put in the room, but I think that Karl has definitely described this complication of mental health problems in general, or even some conditions like ADHD which cause executive functioning disorder, which is also what Karl seems to be describing here. He's a genius, he just doesn't have a very broad vocabulary or doesn't fully understand the concepts he's stumbled upon or observed independently, so we get comedy gold. Brilliant.

Karl goes with whatever pops into his mind - under the pressure of a question at hand - while on mic. You can tell he used to just defend this notion - whatever it is - and just stick to it and flush it out a bit, while on the spot. This was often the pattern. Slugs were on his mind - so slugs (he actually points this out). This wasn't the 1st time he mentioned slugs. But people with the wrong brain vs job - not that's some wacky Karl for you!!! Many topics that appeared on the animated show were brought up previously on XFM radio shows. But it was all still FREE content coming from the brilliant combo of Steve/Ricky + Karl. If you haven't dug into the XFM material - you've got a treasure trove of content - get on it!

It’s already been proven that people think in picture, words, colors, concepts…Yet, most people don’t know that, and can’t understand others don’t think like them. So, wanting to take the time on the desert island to educate yourself is ideal. It’s what a lot of people are doing with their time during the pandemic. Total isolation is the perfect time to educate and self improve with out any external stimulus.

Ricky and Steve are so closed-minded compared to Karl and yet he is the one accused of not educating himself. (I get it's a comedy but it's a little gripe of mine) lol

Hey Guys, love the reactions to Karl. Tons of other KZbinrs are reacting to his stuff as well, but none of them react to the Black Mirror episode which was inspired by (i.e. stolen from) Karl. If you are not familiar, Black Mirror made an episode using Karl's movie ideas. React to that episode please!! It would be epic and unique.

I know what Karl meant about the peoples brains thing, I can’t get my head around DIY I’m just no good at it I’ve attempted it many times but can’t figure out how to a lot of it properly where as theory side work I’m much better, so he meant people who are good at practical work and the hands on approach should be a plumber electrician or whatever and people like me who are good at theory should be behind a desk or something

Who decides who’s too fat for a fridge light though?🤣 I’m with him on it not being necessary. If you’re fat or not, if you want something out of the fridge in the middle of the night, turn the kitchen light on. If you’re trying to be respectful of others who might somehow be bothered by the overhead light, use a flashlight or nowadays, your phone.
