Thank you for this! I believe I’ve been putting my feet far too distant from the wall which has been aggravating my knees during my pain rehab. I can totally sense the firing in my quads and glutes when I am just a foot away from the wall as you describe instead of all the force being sent right to my knee.

How many squats should you start with? Every day? Or every other day ? Thanks
@FeelGoodLife10 ай бұрын
Hi, @fishboat6244 The recommended repetitions is 10-15x for 2-3 sets. If you're experiencing any discomfort, we suggest doing the exercise every other day for now. As you notice a decrease in pain and an increase in stamina, feel free to transition to doing it daily. Let me share the related article of this video. But how do you ultimately strengthen the knees over toes position if you aren’t strengthening that position?
@FeelGoodLife3 ай бұрын
Hi @Sharetheroad3333! To strengthen the knees-over-toes position, focus on exercises like controlled squats and lunges. Gradually build strength and flexibility. If you found this useful, don’t forget to like and subscribe for more helpful content! 💪

How is friction between body and wall accounted for. Do you actually need some friction for control of the movement? How much is too much friction?
@FeelGoodLife6 ай бұрын
Hi @Divocwax! Great question! Friction is important for stability during wall squats. It helps you control your movement and prevents slipping. Too much friction can make it harder to move smoothly up and down the wall, affecting your form. Aim for enough friction to feel stable without restricting your movement. Is it normal that i feel pain around the top of my kneecaps (up to the very bottom part of my thighs)? I have hip dysplasia and my PT recommended this yesterday. I couldnt do the regular squats as my knees were hurting so badly so she told me to do the wall squats first. She told me i just dont have enough muscles (i have very sedentary lifestyle) so its normal to feel some pain in the knee area - is that true? Btw thanks for the video, my PT didnt even correct my posture 😂
@FeelGoodLife4 ай бұрын
Hi @user-vk2ei5ze4y! Mild discomfort is normal when starting out, but don’t push through severe pain. Your PT's advice on building muscle slowly is spot on. Check out these hip dysplasia exercises too: www.feelgoodlife.com/hip-dysplasia-exercises. I do these with my knees at 90°. They’re hard! 😳
@FeelGoodLife Жыл бұрын
If your knees hurt a lot after the exercises, I encourage you to back off. Maybe start with the bare minimum. Obviously, I don't know your specific condition so it's hard to recommend specifics but in general, I normally encourage people to ease into the exercises gradually if they experience pain with the program. I hope this great resource can help you. Please check out this link: feelgoodlife.com/knee-pain-during-squats/ Don't forget to give this video a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel. ☺☺☺

@@FeelGoodLife My trainer has me doing these at 90 degrees and they are absolute murder. Not on my knees, but on my quads. I hate them with the fire of a thousand suns. I would rather plank for an hour than do this for 30 seconds lol. I'm going to try backing off a bit and working my way up to where she wants me, I think it's just too much too soon.

if knees are painful, still can I start with wall sits
@FeelGoodLife Жыл бұрын
Hi, @mamtasadh1537. If you're experiencing knee pain, it's generally not advisable to start with wall sits or any exercise that puts additional strain on your knees. Maybe start with the bare minimum. Obviously, I don't know your specific condition so it's hard to recommend specifics but in general, I normally encourage people to ease into the exercises gradually if they experience pain with the program. There's a great article that I can share to you that might help you. Please check on this link: feelgoodlife.com/sharp-knee-pain/
