They did do some odd crossovers with the original Japanese versions of some of these horror films. For instance I've seen 'Sadako vs Kayako' which pits the spirits from Ringu and Ju-on(The Grudge) against eachother. Sadako Vs Godzilla does sound a lot more fun though.

I watched Ringu on an old busted up VHS tape with my flatmate and our friend. Was probably the most horrifying experience I had watching films, especially as the VHS tape kept warping and flickering every so often. My flatmate was so petrified after the film that he refused to give our friend a ride home without me being in the car - as he didn't want to be on his own for the drive back to ours. Good times.

If you mean original Japanese Ringu, then yes. But these American adaptions are generally just bad. A bit like Dark Water. Even with Jennifer Connely, it was just awful and not much scary. The original was a masterpiece. When you remove cultural connections from movies like these, they lost their meaning.

I LOOOOVE this movie and I loved pestering my friends with "what-if's" about not answering the phone and stuff... also, how convenient that we get a family that the aunt is a reporter who is the ex of a "video expert" and has a son with supernatural abilities and she happens to have allllll the access (in those days) to alll the equipment to be able to watch, copy and edit VHS tapes

I remember watching this at the movie theater when i lived in oregon and the theater was huge and packed and when the closet scene happened everyone in the theater screamed at once They really gave us no time to look away t happened so fast and with no warning Most jump scares it seems there is some kind of forboding but not this time just BAAAAMMMMM

It's still a good movie. Every movie either has flaws or can at least be spun in a funny way, but that doesn't necessarily make the movie nonsense.
