Hi guys! I have been working on this video for a few weeks now, and while adding the finishing touches, I was extremely saddened to hear of the passing of the brilliant actor Donald Sutherland. I was a little hesitant to upload this video because I don't want to appear as fishing for views upon his death but I had scheduled it for this week and, as mentioned, worked on it for weeks prior to his passing. With the video I want to highlight Sutherland's & Tom Blyth's incredible performances and the nuances of the story which he [Sutherland] saw as extremely relevant our modern world. "[Young people] have to recognize the political circumstances they're in, and they have to recognize in [Katniss Everdeen] that they can change them." - Donald Sutherland, 2012. R.I.P.

The surname is so poetic and ironic. Yes, snow always lands on top. But what he forgot was that it always melts.
@katsmit6 ай бұрын
Fire melts snow, probably why he had an issue with Katniss basically from the start. A girl from district 12 who honestly looks like a dead ringer for Lucy and just so happens gets nicknamed The Girl on Fire? Yeah, no wonder he was pissed off when Seneca made her desirable by sponsors with that high individual score. He wanted her dead so he could continue trying to forget Lucy.

Damn that was powerful! I loved the edit of Lucy Gray singing Hanging Tree cutting to Katniss singing it. And then her fire is catching speech at the end. Freaking chills! This demonstrated perfectly his rise to power and how he eventually fell. Also why he managed to stay in power as long as he did.

Genuine perfection, my friend! This is an absolutely magnificent portrayal of everything Snow represents in the franchise. Donald Sutherland was a true artist has inspired a new generation of actors and filmmakers with every cinema project he was a part of. Keep doing what you love and stirring us all as he did. ❤❤

This is the best hunger games edit I have ever watched. It captures everything so well...
@Luc424 ай бұрын
The Hunger Games were such a delicate thing. This perfect balance of hope and despair. They thrive on getting people just invested enough to keep watching, but not so invested that they realize the injustice that's crushing them. First, the Reaping. Snow introduced the Volunteer system. You could volunteer to take someone's place, but almost no one does. It makes every kid that goes into the games isolated, knowing someone could've saved them but chose not to. Theoretically, they have a 1/24 chance of winning. 4.16% isn't great odds, but it's something. But the real odds are and aren't that simple. The Careers are more-or-less bred to be trained killers. And even if you win the games, you get othered when you go back home to wealth and luxury while most everyone else lives in relative poverty. Second, the sponsors. These kids have to make themselves likable to have a better chance of winning. For people like Cato or Marvel, that's not that difficult. But for kids like Rue, a 12-year-old who's probably scared out of her mind, and Katniss, who's not the most personable person to begin with, that's excruciating. They don't even get the decency of getting to be themselves in their final days. Third, the Games. All 24 of them know that only 1 of them is making it out of this alive. They know that everyone, even their fellow tribute from their district, is potentially an enemy. Snow masterfully sowed animosity between districts while simultaneously feeding and relying on humanity's innate sense of compassion. But why does it all fall apart? Because Peeta and Katniss break the system. Katniss, who volunteers for her sister. Katniss, who risks her life to honor Rue and give her the closest thing to a proper burial you can get in the Games. Katniss, who defied the system at every given opportunity while playing the game just well enough that Snow couldn't actually touch her. And Peeta, who showed boundless compassion and gave a portion of his winnings to the families of the 22 tributes who fought and died in the Games. Some of whom even tried to kill him. Together, they showed Panem that the enemy was never each other. The enemy was always the Capitol.

Truly a great villain. And the prequel did an amazing thing in making us root for him in the moment, without taking away from his villainy in the main series. The whole movie you felt for him and wanted him to make the right choice even while knowing he would become the evil character from the hunger games series.
@atlasschmatlas64264 ай бұрын
Lucy Gray spelling the beginning of the end for Snow was a gorgeous touch. The interspersed Capitol scenes with the games was fantastic and the way that Suzanne Collins' core themes are realised in this is so well done, using all the quotes.

This is such a beautiful edit! You let the scenes mirror each other beautifully and speak for themselves. The timing coincided with Donald Sutherland’s tragic passing but it’s a nice tribute to a small part of his extensive and amazing acting career. I have always appreciated how much he cared for the role of Show since I watched bonus footage on THG dvd that was him writing a letter as snow, which inspired the infamous scene with seneca crane in the rose garden. So much respect to him and I hope he rests in peace.

This is a perfect edit, i going to use this to help explain visually the works of Thomas hobbes. The prequel made me wounder if the self hatred that snow felt, made him keep the games going to start a civil war so his country would have to face itself. It made me wounder if the reason why he hated catness so much is because he saw in her both lucy and the man the man he was to afraid to be
@04nbod6 ай бұрын
I don't think he hated Katniss. He wanted to control her. It was a second chance to cage a songbird. Note he says to Katniss that they won't lie to each other. How did he lose Lucy Gray? He lied. By not making the same mistake he hopes to keep her on side. And in the end it sort of does, his truthfulness gets her to kill Coin.
