It’s called quantitative easing which can be reckless, not wreckless. Your reasoning is also flawed. The Chinese government is in the process of bailing out both its banking and real estate sectors. They are flooding their market with liquidity causing some currencies around the region to strengthen. This has nothing to do with Thailand and its central bank is monitoring the situation closely.

Great news on the 10,000 baht bank transfers. According to Thailand’s National Statistics Office, 40% of Thai workers earn less than 17,000 baht a month, so this money is certainly needed. But, unfortunately, it is only a short term solution. What Thais also need are better educational and employment opportunities. Past governments, as well as the private sector, have not served them well. This can be seen as a good start.

Doesn’t money-printing lead to inflation?
@doyoueatrocksАй бұрын
Most governments are not socialists, where money is printed and spent and now exists… money is printed when loans are created, which “should” be paid back and the difference pocketed and used…. Let’s say appropriately. Governments print a lot of money all the time, this amount won’t dent anything in itself but look at the greater whole and how this money was sourced. Was it tax income or was it loans from the central bank

What political instability? A changeover of PM? Do they call it instability when it happens in U.K. or Australia?
@luke-nw9ufАй бұрын
Thai logic. Just like when hotels have low occupancy rates they artificially increase their prices to try to make up the differences. The banks are artificially manipulating the currency in anticipation of the high season and tourist spending. 2024 high season will be the highest amount of tourists in the country since 2019 and those who already planned to come or already made reservations will bare the brunt this year. Very surface level thinking for short term gains without my forethought or caring about the future. Squeezing the golden goose without killing it as much as possible.
