The nostalgia I have for Klasky Csupo is overwhelming. This is mainly because Rugrats was the very first Nicktoon I ever saw, and their other shows on the network would also win me over for a plethora of different reasons. On top of that, not only do I praise Duckman for the same reasons as everyone else, but it even debuted on my birthday. Additionally, there's always something to be said about the animation of the first few seasons of the Simpsons as it just feels quite intriguing looking back.

That studio dominated the Nickelodeon network with their shows in the 90s/2000s. And even before that, they worked on the Golden Age of The Simpsons. Its a shame that they're basically a shell of their former self, and their Rugrats Reboot is an example of it.
@isaiahmarker40710 ай бұрын
I've heard rumors that Klasky Csupo is actually not involved with the Rugrats reboot. They only get the right to veto character additions and veto certain things in the scripts. But Nickelodeon is basically running the show itself and has Klasky Csupo hands off. Gabor Csupo has also stated that he hates the look of the reboot

Doug wasn’t the first Nicktoon to be developed, it was the first to debut. Rugrats was actually the first Nicktoon to be pitched in October of 1990, and was actually dry piloted on June 23,1991 during Slimetime Live, the Dry Pilot was promoted“A Nickelodeon Sneak Peak of our Original Cartoons debuting in August” and the dry pilot’s name was “Barbecue Story”. Rugrats was practically Arlene Klasky and Gabor Csupo’s Very first in house production and IP. The concept first came together in early 1990 and was created by Paul Germain. Duckman was based on a 1986 Underground Seinen/Adult Comic Book series created by Everett Peck. In it, Duckman is a chain smoking,Hard drinking, Lecher who constantly flirts other with women and keeps getting emasculated by his wife Bernice(She’s his Wife in the comics instead of Sister-in-Law) Beatrice is actually his Sister-in-Law in the comics instead of his presumed dead wife. Peck successfully got Duckman pitched to Klasky Csupo in late 1992, but originally the series was picked up by Comedy Central/HA! In February 1993, but after test piloting “Duckman Private Dick/Family Man” on November 13,1993(Later reworked as “American Dicks”) Comedy Central ultimately DROPPED Duckman due to Klasky Csupo failing to meet deadlines and unable to have its first 13 episodes ready by Christmas of 1993(Duckman was a few months behind schedule), but in January 1994, USA Network picked the series.

7:07 You mean TRADITIONALLY animated for the original? I think you got yourself a confused error there.
@StagehandMotel6 Жыл бұрын
Most animation is done by pencil storyboards and frame by frame. However is computer animated to get frames and movements right then finalized overseas coloring and cleaning etc. I think we will go over that in a future video. Because Klasky Csupo did drawings by hand but movements and everything else by computer animation.
@emberjean4230 Жыл бұрын
@@StagehandMotel6 So you mean digital ink and paint, right? That's technically the industry norm standard for most hand drawn shows nowadays actually. And you meant CGI as in EVERYTHING including the animation is done with computer-made images entirely, right?

@@StagehandMotel6 It appears that many individuals harbor a certain aversion to the Rugrats reboot due to its alterations without having given it a fair chance. They seem to overlook the fact that this reboot is intended to present a distinct interpretation of the series, one that takes place in an alternate universe. It's essential to recognize that this is a reboot, not a revival, and therefore, changes to the original concept are expected. Beyond the notable differences such as the parents being from the millennial generation, new voice actors, the varying ages of Susie and Kimi, and Kimi no longer being a clone of Tommy, the core essence of the show remains quite faithful to the original. The dialogue retains the distinctive Rugrats feel, the narrative arcs unfold in a manner consistent with the Rugrats style, and most storylines could easily have occurred in the original series with minor adjustments. Moreover, a significant portion of the same writing team is involved in its production. It's essential to disassociate this reboot from the original series and not anticipate a replication of the same formula. This project is intended to provide a contemporary interpretation, set in the present day, and as is often the case with reboots, it strives to introduce alterations to distinguish itself from its predecessor. The original series had a successful 13-year run (not including its initial cancellation and revival), achieving its objectives. Simply replicating the same content would be unadventurous and appeal solely to nostalgia. By embarking on a fresh direction and creating a clean slate, this reboot aims to captivate a new generation without requiring them to be familiar with the source material, thereby establishing a compelling reason for them to engage with the series.

One of the co creators of Rugrats Paul Germain created the Recess alongside Rugrats writer and Hey Arnold co developer Joe Ansolabehere. Denis M. Hannigan, who did the music for Recess would also do the music for CatDog and seasons 2 and 3 of Rugrats. Also to me the art style looks more like a blend of Hey Arnold, CatDog, and King of the Hill more so than Rugrats which makes sense considering the shared crew across all shows.
