The Rise of Yamato (587 - 804 CE)
In the early stage of Yamato Empire, many female rose as empress in Chrysanthemum throne, who prmoted modernizing the empire through extensive study with Sui and Tang Empire in China along with new influx of ideas and beliefs. Yamato also expanded and displaced the Emishi of Northern Honshu, incorporating them into the empire. While quelling rebellions along the way, appointing powerful Shogun. At its height Yamato empire able to thwart external & internal threat, abolishing conscription and disbanded imperial army who gave rise to the Samurai warriors employed by regional governors.

I was surprised in the first minute or so that a lot of the armor actually looked (relatively) accurate-I mean, no Sengoku-era samurai helms, peasant-soldiers’ loincloths and headbands looked almost Yayoi-ish, etc.

@@sunrisereconquista7048 Century after century, millennia after millennia, humans throw themselves into the meat grinder that is war. We are savage and foolish. Religions of peace are time after time perverted into religions of war, because of our folly, greed, lust for power and stolen wealth, and cruelty. There is no God to save us from ourselves. Believe in no religion that offers hells to unbelievers. Believe in no religion that promises paradise to those who murder unbelievers. While the military armour looks kinda same as the samurai armour, I did notice that the hairstyle somewhat different from the Edo period:- The men have those black headgears and their top-front hair aren't shaved, in contrast to the "Chonmage" style. The women also let their long hair flown, instead of tying them into those geisha-bun style. And oh.... The Emishi people have different kind of hairstyles altogether.
@virtuousvibes2852

This is all set earlier, from the Classical period of Asuka--late Heian. The chonmage would not appear for another few centuries. Mostly court officials were shown. Their dress consisted of layers and layers of kimonos, with different sets for different occasions. Heian women let their hair down back then, especially cultivated long and shiny. Though not shown, both men and women also blackened their teeth, as they thought that black teeth wouldn't change color, while white teeth, due to food residue, would turn yellow. Also, as a side note, headdress was different back then. Different officials wore different hats. Mostly Heian court officials would wear tall conicle-ish hats for ceremonial and administrative purposes.
