John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, Hank Williams and Guy Clark all do better country songs than The Rolling Stones. Townes also covered 'Dead Flowers' and features as the closing song on 'The Big Lebowski.'

Yeah but most of their songs is country infused bluesy type rock and roll between 68-74 (and a lot even to 81) and that is the country they do best. But the songs like Far Away Eyes and Honkey Tonk Woman (also the Country Honk version) are more tongue and cheek and not as good as the rest of their country infused rock and roll of the early 70s.

@@agitatedmongoose I am not sure what the point is your trying to make?...but I actually I saw an old interview with Mick and Keith....They were in some other country, besides the US or Great Britain. They were talking about that they used to like to go there together way back in the early days....To write songs together. That place is where they wrote Honky Tonk women. Keith went on to say it started out as a country song and then the song quickly developed into a rock and roll song. So it was not " tongue in cheek at all. I've heard people say that about a lot of the songs on the Beatles White Album,,,,but thats not true at all for sure.

@@Frisbieinstein Well, it's likely they were miming for the video, I think only live performances are ever filmed and the published audio recorded at the same time. The audio is normally recorded first in the studio and then months later they all mime for the video when the record company has decided which ones they want to release. So 'not being in sync' isn't sufficient justification for suspecting it isn't Ronnie Wood playing it. I'm pretty sure also Ronnie wood would have freely admitted if he didn't actually play that part, he's that kind of guy.

The Stones played all of their hits with high energy as usual. But the most memorable moment of the show was when they played "Far Away Eyes" per the fan vote. Ron Wood played his pedal steel and Mick recited the lyrics perfectly. The harmonies were beautiful! Keith participated while smiling the whole time. I’d just walked out on a superficially beautiful woman (by which I mean, “AN ACTRESS!), an artistic international career, an 11 room London house, the whole bit! I just took off for reasons that I won’t go into here. Anyway. Lo and behold, I met her, “The girl with the far away eyes!”. That was back in 89. All these years later, now 2023, we’re still together! And it’s better than ever. There’s nothing funny about , “The Girl With The Far Away Eyes “ . She’s for real and I married her! Got 2 beautiful kids to prove it too! All that I said to her when I met her was, “ I want to make you a grandma “. The grandchildren are coming on just fine. RX😊

Love the Rolling Stones. I'm the youngest of 8 girls and 2 boys , grew up listening to the Rolling Stones, zztop, Santana, Eagles, CCW, and so many more, now I hear their music and it takes me back memories of such a beautiful childhood, none of these generations will never live such wonderful times

The Stones. One of if not the greatest band of all time. Playing classic Bakersfield country music with hilarious lyrics, Ronnie on the steel pedal, all having a blast trying to hold back the laughter. The look on Charlie's face at 1:43 puts me over the top. Awesome..!

No puedo creer que Charlie no esté más entre nosotros, Dios cómo te voy a extrañar!! Esta banda es mi vida. Cada vez quedan menos. La música se apaga. No tienen reemplazo. Que más quisiera que sean eternos. En mis discos al menos lo serán. Esta música siempre estará con nosotros. Buen viaje Charly querido. Tu batería siempre estará sonando en algún lugar de este loco mundo. Descansa en Paz Maestro.
