The Roots make some of the best music out there, but I guess people would rather listen to 2 chainz and Wiz Khalifa telling them about their gold chains and their bitches, because that is so creative. I'm glad that the roots didn't change to make more money, because they could if they wanted to. I've seen them live 3 times and their live performances are so great I'm really glad I got to see them. I've been playing this song in my car on loop practically. It's refreshing. The song is written from the point of view of someone questioning why they should have faith in an impotent God, just shy of shaking off the last remnants of dogma. In the end, notice that the chorus omits "But God, I know you have your reasons." I take this to mean that there aren't any reasons to know. The truth is that God isn't there.
