This is what hip hop was intended to be. A message being spread through music. Not the garbage you hear on the radio. The Roots will always be in my rotation.

This song will always be relevant because it's timeless. It connects with people on a spiritual level because we've all questioned faith, and evil things have been happening since the dawn of time.

"If everything is made in China, are we Chinese?" "Weak world economy, stock market toppling." These bars relate to this Corona Virus pandemic so damn much right now 😳 All the lyrics of this song is timeless, most of Black Thought's lyrics are. I bet he's having deep thoughts on this pandemic, I hope he shares those lyrics with us.

Only 1 million views wtf? The Roots make some of the best music out there, but I guess people would rather listen to 2 chainz and Wiz Khalifa telling them about their gold chains and their bitches, because that is so creative. I'm glad that the roots didn't change to make more money, because they could if they wanted to. I've seen them live 3 times and their live performances are so great I'm really glad I got to see them. I don't get the trend in Hip Hop right now that rappers make their lyrics as stupid and bad as possible, it's really not working for me.

Seriously I do a bit of emseein myself and I know a good lyricist when I hear one I also wrote a verse about the big man upstairs There is no Christ but the one who lives inside you Gasping for air under the filth that deprives you Long is the road on the journey to find the one who Brought into being the very things that define you Always in space but never in time he can't be defined the father the mother creator of all that is benign Some have said that to order his holy name is a crime but Elohim comforts his children the sick and the dying The week and the blind not one of us shall be left behind in his eyes every child is precious and one-of-a-kind This is a God that many of us have long forgotten And the son who dared to stand up to the crooked and rotten"

Nat B. Pain is just a monetary sensation of new neurological connections taking hold. What you are describing is Black Thought literally changing the very making of your brain with his poetic and prophetic words. First time I consciously and fully realized that this was happening, I was listening to Tupac... He said "Plus this alcohol increases the chance to be deceased I'm movin you stupid b****es, vicious telekinesis Am I reachin your brain? N**** how can I explain?" - From, "No more pain - All eyez on me". Hip Hop is more powerful than most realize, look around you. Look at what it has done to reality with just passion, poetry, love, hate, truth... It really is everything that encompasses life. This is not a far fetched exaggeration... Embrace the pain, it's growth. Be blessed. No! More Pain! 😉

+cool89 I'm a atheist but I can still enjoy music with religious content, like DMX - Lord Give me a sign or Yelawolf ft. Eminem - Best Friend etc. I still appreciate a good song even if I don't think God exists. And I don't think this song is just about God it's about society and where we're headed. If you don't believe in God you can still think that things are headed in the wrong direction and try to change them or at least live your life differently.

To my atheist friends, be honest with yourselves and ask why you truly don't believe in God, and if after researching the history of God and why you have been programmed to not believe thru the media, government and catholic church ironically enough ask the good lord to reveal himself to you with an open mind and heart, in the mean time I will pray for you guys because the deception from the truth is real and only by following Yahshua aka God's son can you be saved, God bless you all 💯🙏🏽

I've been playing this song in my car on loop practically. It's refreshing. The song is written from the point of view of someone questioning why they should have faith in an impotent God, just shy of shaking off the last remnants of dogma. In the end, notice that the chorus omits "But God, I know you have your reasons." I take this to mean that there aren't any reasons to know. The truth is that God isn't there. Not only can't he mind read, he doesn't exist. The blind are leading the blind.
