This is not inferred interpretation, if you google and read the lyrics it couldn’t be stated more clearly

Been listening to these guys since their second album when I was only 13 by far my favorite rap group and I still think "Things Fall Apart" is the best hip hop album ever made. They have been, overlooked, and considered underrated even within hip hop for most of their career. While I knew they were on Jimmy Falon I've never really watched the show and didn't realize what a boost this has given the band. I haven't checked out this video in a while and tonight seeing that it has nearly 17 million views almost made me shed a tear. I had no idea they gained that level of popularity. Congratulations guys you all worked damn hard to get where you are and deserve every bit of your success!

What you wrote basically described my experience with the roots. Got into them at the same age, what they do is probably still favorite rap song. I would heard everyday from age 13-20, I'm not into music in general as I was back then. But you echo my sentiment regarding the recognition they're getting, it's well deserved and about time. Peace...don't know if rap heads even say that anymore.

G. Lang depends on the crowd. i feel like 90s-80s babies they’re pretty known. maybe the younger crowds they’re not as hip. still they def do deserve a lot more praise for what they do for the genre and culture.

I think they’re more under appreciated than underrated. Everyone pretty much knows they are 🔥 but they don’t buy the albums for some reason.
