The popular "barefoot" or minimalist running trend changed the way we think about running, but it has also prompted many questions: Have we been running the wrong way? Have we been running in the wrong kind of shoe? What is the safest type of foot strike? The Running Revolution provides both beginning and experienced runners with everything they need to know in order to safely and efficiently transition to and master a safer and more biomechanically efficient way of running that is guaranteed to improve performance and minimize wear and tear on the body.

i'm learning the Pose method of running by myself from many months with the help of Doctor Romanov, Lana Romanov and others. I use Topo Athletic st-4 drop zero shoes and i did with them 500 km without problems. I did Pose method drills barefoot on the floor of my house or on a sport carpet without problems. I have seen progress and i run slow or fast without efforts. Everyone must learn The Pose method of running because is a scientif method for running, a natural approach.

I agree with a lot of what he said but if you are flat you should wear orthotics to give your arch the support it needs for the impact you receive from running, jumping, walking, or standing.

I agree with most of what he says and have have been a Pose/chi runner for a decade . The technique is conducive to less injuries. I have not had an injury using the method. However, with ultra runners, they must be prone to over use injuries, as the human body can only take so much. There is some evidence from research on the hearts of ultra runners that suggest that there is damage, as compared to moderate mileage runners.

Dear Dr R, I think you know that gravity provides none of the energy needed to move forward, though it is totally essential to running (as is a lean). Except in the first step or so. After that, the body gets no lower, and so we are irritatingly stuck with providing all the energy. It’s possible that your method helps runners, via the nice story that you propose, and the time, encouragement and attention you give them.

Something doesn't add up. @ 39:31 " When you are sprinting the key is to how far you fall". This contradicts the best sprinters form. They are muscular and seem to be driving with power and explosive movements.

You are correct. However, they are trading efficiency for speed. Pose method is about efficiency, sprinting 500m is about power and speed.

Running is just about falling..?? please elite marathon runners have a stride length of about 2 meters so tell me how are they able to accomplish that without pushing and applying force to the ground? they are slim, but they are very strong and do lots of strength drills, they have an incredible power weight ratio. The pose position is not forced in running, it's just the result of the stretch reflex of the hips flexors that bring the knees forward .. the faster you run, the biggest the force is apply to the ground , resulting in a higher knee drive phase
@posetv
@posetv 2 жыл бұрын
You don't take longer strides to run faster. Your strides are longer because you're running faster. That's one. Two - the height of the knee as well as the foot are also the result of your speed. It is important to understand cause and effect. Speed is also the result. Running is about carrying your body above ground in horizontal direction by change of support. If applying force to the ground was in fact the cause of faster running, wouldn't elephants be faster than cheetahs?
@yeahhhhh9209
@yeahhhhh9209 2 жыл бұрын
@@posetv your strides are longer because you're running faster?? Yeah and how is that without applying any force ?You cannot run faster by falling, come on.. you apply force into the ground but with angular velocity and you go forward horizontally by inertia and momentum...try to tell me that elite runners just fall without engaging their muscles ? They run a marathon at more than 12,5 miles per hour on average you know what that means? 2 meter almost per stride , by falling?? No by training hours per day, and by getting fit and stronger and combining their aerobic endurance with muscles and tendons strength In my opinion the only thing right about your theory like all the great coaches teach , is that you should try to land close to your centre of mass, and increase your step rate at least above 180 rpm
@posetv

@@yeahhhhh9209 😂 Dr. Romanov started the "land under your center of mass and increase your cadence" in 1997 with his first video on running my friend. I'm not here to convince you. Do whatever works for you. Good luck.

Arguably the revolution implied by this book is in our *understanding* of running, rather than in anything else (like shoes, nutrition, etc). What is new in Romanov's ideas is that it's possible to reduce all running technique, at any pace and for any distance, down to no more than three essential moments: pose, fall, pull. That in itself is a bold hypothesis.

Dr. Romanov's 1 st VHS the Pose Method of Running was released in 1997, the DVD with the same title - shortly after, the book - the Pose Method of Running was released in 2002. So yes, these concepts have been around and copied for years. Running Revolution (2014) is a simplified version of those concepts for mass market.

Ok, I have watched the full video. Time for a reality check. The presenter is a charming man, full of charisma. But what he is saying is bullshit, and I'll tell you for why. He is selling snow to Eskimos. He is telling people how to do something they already do naturally. You already run using the method he describes. This is how the human body propels itself forward whenever you exceed a speed of approximately 7-8 kmh (5 - 5.5 mph), at the point when both feet are no longer always in contact with the ground. He is incorrect in what he said about running on a treadmill. A treadmill simulates almost perfectly the act of running across real terrain. It does this by instantaneous transfer of energy through the moving belt to the stationary surface below, so the belt velocity is not truly linear. But what this means is that human biomechanics can be evaluated adequately on a treadmill. What is different is other effects such as terrain and wind resistance and crosswind. It is difficult to dismiss nonsense like this when it is only half right - like everything you hear in life, be it politics, lifestyle, education, etc, 80% of what you hear or learn confirms what you already know or have experienced. Same thing here. He is selling snow to Eskimos. There is nothing of substantial value here.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnmUmnyYns5mfc0 if what you said were true, how do you explain the very poor running form that is performed at 0: 30 [edit: removed time marker link that is of course pointing to THIS Video here. I want you to look at the runner 30 seconds in of the video I linked]? I just grabbed a random 10k running video and already the 2nd runner filmed there was not doing what you proclaim to be intrenisic to humans.

You seem to be very offended, Jelly. So much so, that you lost form in your writing and punctuation. The video you point to shows all the athletes in slow motion showing great form. They ALL run with exactly the style that Romanov advocates. They don't heel-strike - they fore-foot strike. The point at which they strike the ground, the striking foot's knee is slightly bent. And the point at which the foot strikes the ground is directly below the centre of the hip and thus the centre of gravity. What more could you possibly want? The athlete you're referring to may look a little ugly in her running style but from the technical perspective, it is still 100% in line with what Romanov says.

@@gakaface How in the world can you possibly be under the impression that the runner I referred to in the video kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnmUmnyYns5mfc0 (around 30 seconds in), is running POSE? 🤔 Or did you mistakingly click on the time marker 0: 30 and watched the runner in THIS video's intro, that indeed runs POSE? I edited the post above, so there is no possible mix-up. I can't use up any more time to argue with you, sorry. All the best.

If people start slow and run with bad form that really have a low likely hood of injury but people don't start running slow. They go from sedentary to intense running and THAT combined with heel striking is bad. With pose running it's difficult to get injured; even if you over train. So you're actually right but the POSE method is still superior to heel striking. Pose is also worthless if you just take peoples shoes off and making them run barefoot. Think of POSE as a way to force people to run in barefoot form but with shoes on.
