I'm weird, I'd love to see them make it so that you come back OUT of the drop pod after the mission is complete, rather than in your sleeping berth. Completes that immersion; "We left, and we came back". Who else loves the lobby is physical and not just a dang menu screen?
@FrozenxDeath Жыл бұрын
I think the reason for it is, in-universe your dwarves are actually only doing one mission per day. It's a lot more dangerous, taxing, and altogether serious for them. So the reason you pop up in your quarters instead of in the returned drop pod is that between leaving the mine and loading back to the Space Rig gameplay-wise your dwarf probably rode back up, had a sandwich or three, and threw himself in bed for awhile.
@benji-menji Жыл бұрын
I have the opposite opinion on Space rig stuff. I spend a lot of time just vibing and barrel hopping with the b-hop mod so getting the arcade machine is really exciting. Regardless, I think all fronts of an update should be considered and given enough content and cliffhangers for the season format rather than leaving any part left unfinished. As long as we get a fair amount of content, I will be content.

Personally speaking, I was genuinely intrigued by the rival company. I wanted to know more about them and their motivations considering they are invading Hoxxes. It was weird when GSG announced the rock pox update leaving the robots in a pocket. I understand some players were tired of the rival corp theme so it's ok. I'm just afraid GSG won't bring back the rivals ever again. They said "the rivals are gone FOR NOW" I really hope they come back but this time giving us the opportunity to know more about them, to have a deeper perspective about who they are and what's behind all this invasion thing. About rock pox... I liked it but it's true that some seasonal events such as meteorites are starting to get monotonous and similar to other events we already have. I really hope GSG bring back the rivals and put some new and interesting events on the table.
@shadowhaxor99 Жыл бұрын
Yeah. Despite my complaining, I was really hoping for more rock pox content! I know it could be really good if it got some more time put into it! And the robots are also fun, I'm totally down for more so long as they build up to whatever the core theme of the update will be.

@TheDaxter11 Жыл бұрын
It felt kinda weird just leaving the rivals yeah. If they wanna tell stories with these seasons then, going by the first 2, they need 3 seasons for a theme and its story. Beginning, middle, end. Hell, I feel like a good thing to end with the Rockpox would be for the whole commit, or a huge chunk bigger than the others, to crash on the planet and give us a mission similar in format to the mission S2 added but it ends with a rockpox infected Dreadnaught fight, with new abilities, maybe rockpox tendrils coming out of it and stuff like that.

@sarrakitty Жыл бұрын
I do dislike the sort of noncommittal attitude they take towards any sort of larger narrative in the world. My biggest fear is that if they do these seasons for long enough, DRG will start to feel less like a game with a distinct identity and more of a jumble of random monster-of-the-weeks from past seasons all encountered randomly on occasion, without anything to tie them together. I get that they are making a casual fun co-op shooter not a deep lore and story-driven game, so I'm ok with the "story" (to the extend that it even exists)being vague, I just feel like the seasons so far have lacked any sense of closure.
@Alienoiable Жыл бұрын
"we're not seeing the escalation from a gameplay perspective" - that's only true if you ignore the nemesis (the menace you're talking about I suppose ?) and the rival presence warning (which wasn't a thing in S1). We're also not done with robots (they said on stream they weren't done with it - and it's logical they would keep expanding on that entirely new branch of enemies later on). I also think it's not fair on S3, because they tried something nobody seem to be talking about despite being kind of a huge deal for the development path they're taking : calling down tools in missions - which open the door for many, many things in the future. S3 is about slowly introducing new mechanics, with tools and mandatory side objectives. Seasons are not here to reinvent DRG, unlike everyone seem to believe, it's here to slowly expand on what's already existing while giving players something to do. There's nothing that has to "carry a season on its back". You're looking at this in an extremely biased way. Would you still have the same issues if they stopped making new content entirely and kept them called "updates", only tweaking balance here and there ? Looks like S1 spoiled people so much, the expectations went crazy high. You also really need to stop making assumptions on a season you know nothing about because you've seen a few teasers. The season is still 2 months away from releasing and you've seen 4 teasers. Do you really believe that's all there is to it ? :P (Also, you getting "mad" about the minigame, which is just fluff funny stuff people have been asking for a while now, sounds a bit petty tbh.)
@shadowhaxor99 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I meant to say nemesis but got the words mixed up in my head. It's great if they do more in the future, but that doesn't change that season 2 didn't really feel like much of an escalation. the nemesis was a great way to do it, and I think the rival presence is also a decent attempt at this but only having those 2 things doesn't really do much to build on the theme imo. being able to call down tools is neat, but that was pretty much the only unique thing offered by season 3. It was fun, and like you said they can build on it later, but its very basic. I feel like it could have been a lot better than it was. if they weren't doing a seasonal format, maybe they could have fleshed it out instead of pushing it out and doing something better later. I don't think they're trying to reinvent DRG. Of course I'd rather have them make new content, but you're making a false dichotomy. They added new content for years without the season format. Why would they suddenly become incapable of doing that again? I'm fully willing to admit I could be wrong, and I know there will be more too it. I'm just disappointed that they are hopping away from the rock pox and off to something new while leaving it in a very basic and underwhelming state. And sure, maybe complaining about the arcade is petty, but I'd rather have more core gameplay than fluff, especially when they're adding underwhelming content like season 3 to the game that needed more time in the oven. The time spent on that fluff could be going into improving the content I'll be experiencing for 99% of my playtime.

@@Random__Dude. A lot of them have A LOT of experience, this isn't their first time being devs it's just the first time being INDEPENDENT devs. The main point people are trying to make is smarter use of man power. The time they took to make S3 Lithophage related stuff could have been time used to create a new Biome or maybe 2, add a new mineral, add more enemies (although they're doing that now), add extra weekly missions, add small things that encourage people to play more etc. All of those things are long term content, I don't get "bored" of seeing a menace in a mission shooting at me, what I do get bored of however is doing a meteor event for the 300th time when its the exact same thing every time. If they directed the same effort towards long term improvements to gameplay rather than the content we got with S3 then S3 would have been much better. S2 was carried by the new secondaries, I've had 1000x more fun and sunk way more time into experimenting with those and making good builds than I ever did with doing Rival missions.

I don't think GSG mentioned new enemies as the only content they'll be adding for s4. I see it more as a sneak peak, especially if you look at all the teasers they've been releasing. New enemies definitely wouldn't be enough for an entire season, and an arcade machine is subjective (although I see why it wouldn't be relevant to some players), but again, the teasers have also teased extended poi's in the rig, a mysterious shipment, as well as new stuff in the caves (which you didn't mention). I don't expect them to leak the entire season's content in 4 1-minute teasers, and I hope that neither did you, because that's what the trailers are for.

@DebasedAnon Жыл бұрын
I mean you can look at their history in terms of updates, yes they never revealed literally 100% of stuff with early teasers but the main stuff was always shown off like the nades in S3 and the secondaries in S2. Their track record basically shows that they show off most of the "big stuff" in the teasers and then the rest is just minor additions.

a gradual update in a season would be a cool thing, for example, despite our best effort the rockpox has taken root and has spread across hoxxes IV, introducing new infected enemies maybe a more difficult multi-stage event to clear out a cave not as a side main mission ,but as THE main mission, so you have to deal with constent infection like an O2 modefier or something along those lines , all while making your way to the heart of the infection, rather then the spikes we have now just spawning sorta annoying enemies but not really giving off an urgent feeling, i want to feel and OH SHIT OH FUCK sort of danger, like when a haunted cave sneaks up on you.

Robots and Roxpox both have amazing potential for more content. They are seeds that can be built upon at any time, thats why they are so interesting imo. Next time they want to make an update about roxpox? Oh, we missed a large chunk of roxpox in a cave, it spread and is taking over or made some big monster or needs a big clearing team, or blah blah blah. Oh the rivals have introduced some new junk to xyz. Personally I don't think the devs learned 'never revisit things' and more. . 'dont double up on themes'. Don't do them back to back to back, mix it up. I'm actually really excited for a less themed update, which this one seems to be, its not about a big threat, and more about . . heres some stuff the community wants, more baddies, more things to collect, more things to do in the space rig. I think the season system has so much potential! Although I think its very fair to be scared too, change is scary and the devs slow action has made the subpar season 3 drag on to really have us get stuck in the loop. I mostly worry about how long they can keep this system up, regardless of how many ideas they have and how much support they are gaining, the massive influx of cosmetics is an awful lot of work.

when you mentioned in rival escalation that maybe rivals could appear out of nowhere in normal missions i actually thought that was a pretty cool idea, definitely missed opportunity i think on that part. rockpox enemies feel like more of a nuisance than anything, it would be cool to have at least another enemy that is more unique as opposed to the mutated enemies just being more resilient existing enemies with 1 shot weakpoints that move around a lot with kind of weird hitboxes I personally felt the rockcracker criticism was a bit harsh but I can see where it's coming from, when s3 launched I thought that was so cool and I still do enjoy it more than HACK-C (despite the rockcracker's harsh silence in response to my rock and stone). Having 2 pods to protect at once and having them gradually drain their health at all times makes it more dynamic instead of just sitting in one spot waiting for enemies (though this is from a solo player standpoint where I'm jumping back and forth repeatedly to keep them topped up) I am excited for season 4 though and I hope the things they are teasing do happen to be side content and later teasers show off the main stuff that is hopefully badass also you're a big stupid baby idiothead

I am still unsure what happened between 2018 /2019 and now, but a lot has changed for them internally. When their former comunity manager left, transparency dropped by a lot and suddenly we weren't told about anything anymore. Something for sure is happening behind closed gates. When Jacob (I believe that's the new manager, I kind of lost track when they switched) took over, I was thrown out of every conversation, chat and the steam page public streaming thingy and got renamed on their discord twice, first to "Bad at Content creation" and later to "Don't be sorry", still not entirely sure what that ment... And I believe this is happening once again, I am unsure why they're doing these weird things, and starting to loose touch with their community. Makes me kind of worried. My only guess would be, that they are becoming more of a corporate company, moving away from "indie" and moving towards becoming more part of the "AAA" gaming space, but then again, don't take my word for that part, could be something way different entirely.

@@parmesanman2908 Yup, one of the solutions I would personally like is giving players something to achieve via hard challenges rather than everything being unlockable with just "playtime". I've proposed this on several other videos over the years and everytime I got a horde of DRG Reddit dwellers yelling at me about how I'm insecure about my "skills" because the notion of adding competition to the game is personally offensive to them. Add things like a wave based survival game mode that resets weekly and if you get to X amount of waves you get a cosmetic reward, add money/XP bonuses for speed running a mission etc. Pretty much my entire friend group who plays DRG are of the same opinion: once you get into the 100s in terms of your rank the game doesn't have any content left. You could play for the rest of the overclocks/cosmetics but a good 90% of them are just objectively worse AND they're time gated... Game needs more content that improves replayability not content that makes people go "woah thats so cool" and then stop playing it after a week or two.

@@parmesanman2908 Only reason I'm for adding the leaderboards for these things is cause its extremely simple would cost next to no dev time and the % of people who enjoy it instantly get a reason to play more with no effort really spent. Similarly with the speedrunning thing, they already have timers for missions just make it gives bonus % when you hit certain thresholds, again next to no dev time required and you've satisfied a chunk of your playerbase. Core gameplay loop needs to be expanded as well, more weapons, more overclocks, more enemies to shoot, more biomes BUT you also need more mission types. Most of the games people sink the most hours into they do so because the skill ceiling is extremely high and they get rewarded for grinding towards it (competitive shooters), the only thing you get for being really good at DRG is... nothing, literally nothing. Once you get comfortable in Haz 5 there's literally nothing to strive for and it just becomes a game about collecting cosmetics. Before I say anything DRG has the best battlepass and free update system out of like 99% of live service games I think the main problems with the current season format is that the update schedule is so much more infrequent and less and most of the updates to drg currently are special events or cosmetic overhauls to the space rig which is cool but its not going to convince most players who have 200+ hours in the game to come back. The current season 3 did not give enough for the time it was warranted. Right now the updates are straight up just not giving enough content I like how they are improving the game for players who are newish to drg but all the veterans come back to like 4 to 5 hours worth of new content. Also GSG may feel constricted by the seasonal updates by being only to be able to give new content on the season drops rather than in between the seasons.
@MoistChickenLegs Жыл бұрын
I don't think it's proper to think they are constricted by seasonal updates, the concept of season, or season length is just to say, this is how much money we have to spend on development, this is how often we can comfortably deliver chunks of content. Dropping or shortening the seasonal format wont really change any of this. For people that dont want to come back to the new content, that's totally fine, you've probably gotten more than your fair share of hours out of the purchase you made. You buy the game, and have your time with it, if you're burned out of the gameplay, don't play, the content updates are free and are not there to impress people who are already bored of the gameplay. Aside from grinding out all the overclocks/cosmetics there isn't much content to do honestly. There needs to be more stuff added to do weekly and more rewards locked behind SKILL rather than just grinding hours away. The best way to incentivize people to play a game for a long period of time is to give them challenges to overcome, playing for 500hrs isn't a challenge its just a time gate. Add some wave based survival game mode that tracks "top scores" and make it reset weekly, give rewards for getting past a certain wave or something. Focus on adding more biomes rather than padding out the space rig etc. The seasonal format is fine but the problem is they're not using the massive advantage they have which is random generation. The reason you can play hundreds of missions before it gets repetitive is BECAUSE of random generation, meteor events are the exact same thing every time, Rival events were, again, the exact same thing every time and that's also WHY Industrial sabotage isn't that liked, because its the exact same thing every time... Lean more into challenging content to give players incentive to get better (which by itself is a good time sink) and add EVEN MORE variation to the randomly generated missions. EDIT: I also hope they stop just listening to the "majority opinion" on these things. There has been so many games over the years that have launched and then the devs did exactly what places like Reddit wanted them to and the game died as a result. You shouldn't ignore them entirely ofc but if you know the game inside and out and you open reddit your brain will melt from all the comically and OBJECTIVELY wrong stuff in there, especially regarding the "Meta builds" etc. Majority doesn't mean "correct" nor does it mean "good way to get more players". The DRG community is at the other extreme, on 1 extreme you have insanely toxic communities like competitive games have but on the other side you have DRG's community that's best described as "toxic positivity". There's still things that are beyond annoying and are extremely simple fixes that the devs still haven't fixed to this day due to the community pretending like they don't exist. Bugs getting stuck halfway into Doretta is very annoying ESPECIALLY if you're playing solo or engi, or both, because Bosco/Turrets can't target them. The fix is extremely simple: expand the hitbox slightly but that will never get to the devs' ears because the community is 1 big circle jerk over the things they like while doing their best to not mention the things they DONT.

You nailed it. I just started playing the game recently, and I feel like I've experienced all of what DRG has to offer. Gridning for overclocks was fun at first, but I've found most overclocks to be underwhelming. The gameplay loop is fun don't get me wrong, but the amount of content feels lacking. And once you get good loadouts even the most difficult hazmat/Elite dives become easy. Adding some type of competitive aspect to the game with leaderboards would certainly help the game imo. They wouldn't have to make it a seperate mode necessarily either. For instance they could take something like deep dives and just add on a scoring system where people would compete for "Employee of the week". Score could be based on things like time to complete deep dive, bugs killed, amount of deaths, minerals mined, etc. A survival wave based mode with leaderboards would be amazing as well.

I'm enjoying the fact that each season is introducing new mechanics/enemies that stay in the core gameplay and mission rotation. The previous ones are less frequent to make room for the new stuff each season and that is great. We got new primary/secondary weapons and new grenades all of which added some much needed variety to the gameplay loop. It would be amazing if we got more of that, or at the very least, more overclocks or something else to put unused matrix cores and perk point to good use. There is nothing more unfulfilling than gaining rewards that are useless.

Your saying the content is drifting, but from this video it sounds like you just want everything now, more, more, more, vs quality, thought out, and planned out updates. The problem was that they were going for a story theme with the updates, but when everyone hated the robots alot of stuff got side lined for a new thing that turned out to be rock pox. It was never 100% were getting more robots, but if I remember right in one of their weekly streams they said they were sad people out right hated the robots so much as they had so much planned that had to be scrapped(one thing that was hinted at was power suits of some kind). I loved the robots do to them needed more skill to play around and against vs blind rushing a room. it's just one of those what we could have had moments that makes me really sad. The other problem is people wanting a big flow of new stuff every week or month or game x is dead. no, No, NO STOP. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. A game can be fun without a massive amount of stuff every season. I hate this train of thought. This is why I left Destiny 2 after loving 1. The season format is just a good way of passing updates, nothing wrong with each update not having new guns or game modes EVERY SEASON.
@shadowhaxor99 Жыл бұрын
I haven't the faintest clue how you got that interpretation. I don't want a weekly or monthly update. I was pointing out how dispite the fact that more time is going into these updates, the quality AND quantity is not going up. Look at season 3. I made it clear that i feel it's a major step down from season 2, despite the fact that there is more time between season 2 and 3 than there was between season 1 and 2. And they added 4 new weapons between those seasons. I think that if they stopped focusing on adding themed content, it might open things up more so they don't have to split their focus between the "major" updates (new grenades, enemies, weapons) and the season content. I really don't want them to rush out content. I want them to be able to put more effort into the "main" content.
@LastEngi Жыл бұрын
@@shadowhaxor99 Yes, there was a drop from season 2 to 3, season 3 was a rushed make up for what was planned as more robots( If what the devs said in that weekly stream WAS true). So instead of months of work to flush out ideas they most likely had 1-2 months at most to make season 3 after scraping what they had already made. The problem is they had an idea for where they wanted the game to go and the players didn't want it. So for 3 and most likely 4 they are just throwing any ideas at the wall till they can get a game plan. I blame the player base not the devs for that. The problem is it sounds like you are saying I didn't like robots and they didn't give us non-robots fast enough. My fear is your sounding 100% like the streamers that drove destiny 2 into the ground and has made it the grind fest gameplayless game it is now. The youtube video "The Hidden Costs of Long Playtimes in Modern Gaming" is a great example of what I don't want deep rock to become. At the end of said video they even list deep rock as a game that doesn't do this. My whole point is we need to let the devs work on an idea before telling them to SCRAP THE WHOLE THING and then not being happy with what they had to rush together DO 100% BY TO THOSE WHO TOLD THE DEVS TO STOP ANY AND ALL ROBOTS. It just sounds like I don't like X so make new X but double time it before I get bored. If they don't have a good plan for a roll out of a new event, a few small changes like the arcade machine and a few new bug types is 100% what should be this update till they can get a big show case together for a bigger event. Also you comment about where I got the interpretation I have, Rewatch the video from the 3-7 minute mark where you talk about seaon 3 not having enough new things, that was enough, but then it was hammered home with your comments on season 4 from 7 minute mark to the 10 minute mark. You don't like what is coming with the update you NEED more, More, MOre, MORe, MORE rushed content vs what they want to put out. There's nothing wrong with a small update to let things get back on track.

About s4 I'm quite sure they will deliver a banger like they always did. I can perfectly see where your criticism is coming from and I do understand your concerns as seasonal content gets old over time. One thing that I really think would fix this problem forever is community quests that affect either seasonal content like missions and modifiers or normal missions and modifiers. I would do something like at the start of the season 3 types of quests appear being like: 1) collect eggs 2) complete on site refinery 3) collect enor pearls The entire community will gradually work towards those goals and the first one to be completed will have a positive effect, second one will grant a small bonus to xp or creds or whatever and the last one that gets or doesn't get completed will have a negative effect like: 1) collect eggs completed first: less pretorians per wave as less of them hatched 2) collect enor pearls completed as second: every mission you do will grant you 5 enor pearls 3) on site refinery not completed or completed at last: in every on site refinery mission 1 pipe will have a third leak These missions will pop up once every 2 weeks were 1 week you have to work towards the goals and the other week the effects of the results remain and modify stuff, the 2 weeks pass and other missions are chosen and the previous effects are removed. This would keep the gameplay and missions fresh without the help of more content, although this alone wouldn't cut it. I do understand that this is probably a very hard implementation and they don't have the financial capabilities of a tripleA company but it would help so much imo and I'd love to see it eventually.

Around 7 months between seasons. 32 employees. I get the "story stuff" and content side you're trying to claim is inadequate. To justify and reiterate what the game is trying to do, the devs simply do not have time to sufficiently create game changing filled content because they simply lack the man power in the set deadline they've made for each season. I can understand the problem with the robots and the DRG's understanding of how to approach the same themed updates, as well as how to improve on them. Season 1 was great, but the devs cannot make something like adding new weapons, enemies, a mission type, and events again in one season as they first set the deadline. The player base didn't know these seasons were coming until long after development of the first and now we expect them to come in with that same amount of content in that insufficient time. I'm content with the smaller updates, but I do agree there does need to be reconsideration in their approach. Essentially, the whole "I hope its better than season 1" dream is not gonna happen. Please be realistic. Also, your background music is too loud compared to your voice audio. Sorry, but the nitpickers need to be nitpicked. Also, really? Half-baked Idea? Little cruel.

if my hopeful speculations are correct; season 3 was a bridging season for a much large season, which will either be season 4 or a future season. or they're putting their effort into completely different projects. at worst the update will be mediorce. it wont add any content that straight up sucks but will be lackluster. i will also mention that season 3 could've been lackluster because they were working on 'deep rock galactic: survivor' simultaneously.

I think and I might be wrong about this but I think they need more content during the season like little small updates adding like a new enemy or something like that. I have really only played at the beginning of each season so maybe they do small updates like this. As someone who started playing DRG in the middle of season 1, I agree that they should shift back to updates. I enjoy the seasonal content, I enjoy the performance passes, and I enjoy the cosmetic trees, but it feels like they're running themselves into the ground trying to make something seasonal out of each update. With the next season just being "new enemies" as far as we know, how are you going to get a season theme out of that? What are we even going to be getting scrip from? I do also crave new content involving the rivals and the rockpox. It would be cool if they'd occasionally pump some fresh blood into older content with a new enemy or event. Like what if instead of a swarm, there was a chance to have a "rival raid" where robots spawn instead of bugs? We already have swarmer swarms, grunt swarms, praetorian swarms, even rockpox swarms, so it's not that far-fetched of an idea. As for rockpox, what if we had other enemies infected, like a Rockpox Menace or Rockpox Spitballer? (I don't personally mind that we don't see the pox spreading if only because the status affliction it gives you feels pretty infectious on its own). It just feels like there could be more, but with the season format, they're looking towards the next big idea instead of refining what they've already got. With updates, they could do smaller batches of content without the need for themes.

The single only thing I can agree upon was that season 2's plot structure and gimmicks were not a whole lot of an improvement over season 1's. But the game did get a ton of QoL improvements along the way in the process. You got upset about the S3 enemies being reskins and the S4 previews showing new enemy concepts got you even more upset... so it seems like you're gonna be an unhappy camper either way. The new content to S4's space rig has me very interested, personally, it's honestly just a great place to goof off in, and I'll be glad if there's another choice besides kicking barrels and drinking joke beer to pass the time until my friends are done in the bathroom.

You know what? I get your point, Ghost Ship should improve upon what we have and expand on the themes of Rival Tech and Rockpox. They should've made a rockpox infected biome, with new enemy types of glyphids AND Macteras mutated by the rockpox. New events different from meteorites or cleaning the rockpox. Maybe a mission type where your objective is to aid a MASSIVE piece of heavy equipment right in the center of the map that constantly clears the rockpox terrain, but needs constant repairs, and you need to fend off a mutated dreadnaught after the main event is finished. They REALLY need to expand on what they have. The problem is not that the theme could get boring, but more so that they're afraid of how they could keep it interesting for a large amount of time. There are SO MANY opportunities for the rockpox... Imagine temporarily colaborating with Rival Tech to push this new threat away? It expands upon the last 3 seasons without needing to do more new themed content. And I can't be the only one who thinks the rockpox could've been a massive threat to entire planets like the Flood from Halo. Imagine a Rockpox gravemind? Some scary shit I tell you.

I feel like there should have been some sort of rock pox boss, like an infected dreadnaught, that you have a chance of coming across when in a lithophage outbreak area. On top of that if a metor impact happens and you don't collect the plauge hearts an optional emergency mission should have been added that is the exact mission you just left that is now infected, minimal resources remain due to you mining them before, and nice consequence of your actions sorta thing. However in Ghost ships defence for season 3, do you understand how much can happen in a single world? I have had a low oxygen, rival presence mission, that had a nemisis, prospector, lost gear and create, over clock charger, and two large lithophage meteors with the addition of a meteor shower. To top it all off there were a lot of Bulk detonators, and had a dreadnought attack. That is a lot of random things that can happen in a single lobby, it was also my first time having two of the large rocks fall, and it was in short succession. They are really going to have to fix their numbers as seasons go on with all of the stuff that can happen. I think they will come back to other things especially if the community wants it, this was a short reprieve from it. A large rock broke and is infecting the planet, this is more of a hazard than the robots kinda thing. A bit of my issue in the nature of the game is that this planet existed, lore wise, before the dwarves were there. Many of the creatures look like they should attack one another, meaning cave leaches would most likely eat gyiphids or loot bugs, gyiphids would eat loots bugs etc. So what is the actual food chain since they don't do this. Also why do the bugs attack like they are under some sort of hive mind being commanded to go to certain regions, something to further expand on.
@neuu8708 Жыл бұрын
Acshually, lootbugs would not be eaten since they're mostly minerals and rocks. It's said in lore. Also bugs not attacking themselves is probably mostly gameplay elements, but they could be explained by us making so much vibrations on our entrance and during our operations that they just hyperfixate on us, especially since glyphids, which are most numerous, probably rely on vibrations to see around them since they lack eyes

Greybeard here. Im actually the opposite, i think the rockpox stuff is a lot more interesting with its events and how players interact with it, than Season 1 & 2’s robot shenanigans. I do think you’re laying it on them a bit hard, we were going to inevitably get smaller updates, and i think thats fine. We cannot expect them to deliver new weapons or anything of the same caliber with every new season. The new season is the smallest thus far, and whilst im not overwhelmed i think its alright. My biggest issue is the season pass being full of cosmetics that are either variants or look way too much like other cosmetics (something that i thing is already a huge issue in drg). I like all the enemies a lot, but i think i would’ve wanted some more, especially biome specific ones like the Trawler. My worry is that the season format is taking up too much time, with them having to put out a million cosmetics and stuff, something they didn’t do in the past with every major Update. I could definitely do without, but at the end of the day i hope its not pressuring them into overworking and or underdelivering on updates.

the rock pox enemies are not just reaskins of existing enemies, they do have diffrent skin, but most of the bugs have ranged attacks that spread rock pox, they have much more health, and have weak points to take them down much quicker. im not sure all of those changes can give the title of a new enemy, but i dont think it qualifies as a reskin.

Moving away from robots wasnt just to avoid a repeat, its also because a good chunk of the community apparently dont enjoy fighting the robots, so it was more than just avoiding a repeat. Also not all seasons will add new weapon, and in fact ghostship may be driving themselves in a corner with new weapons... becausse of the cosmetics. Each time they add a new gun, first multiply by 4 because yoou want one for each class at the same time, and then take ALL the mesh reskin and take time modelling them to fit each of the new weapons.... and they keep adding new mesh skins, meaning at every new season, it demands more and more work to add a new gun while keeping the same quality going. If anything a mere grenade that cant be reskinned was likely a breath of fresh air for them in that regard; and honestly i wouldnt mind an update that adds more options to tweak existing weapons instead of adding new ones. lastly for the arcade... some players DO like hanging around and messing with things around the space rig a lot, so I'd say giving players MORE things to do in there beyond a seasonal update of the rig (like the xmas, oktoberfest and chinese new year decorations) is a welcome thing

It feels like the seasonal updates just aren’t that big. Season 1 and season three were the biggest, as they added a good bit to the game. But the way they structure them is in two parts, meaning the they stick with the same theme for two whole seasons that last for half a year. If this was a kid season update, it would be cool, awesome even, but this is a start of a nature new season, where it’s unlikely we’ll get any new content. I know it’s free content, but there’s hardly any new content, just a new mini boss and some stuff in the rig. I agree with what you said 100% and i think you were correct about the S4 being lackluster content wise. S5 needs to come with new perks and weapon overclocks. Otherwise drg is going to start losing players, albeit slowly first.

Really hope on the next updates the rock pox stop being just a generic texture on top of stuff + a few annoying attacks and it evolves to become a full enemy, either that or just chuck that out of the game entirely because I hate everything about it other than the pottential of what it could become, like a special mini-boss event type enemy, I really hope we get more deep dive related stuff and some more challenging things to do on the endgame, also I think they should split their work a bit better on ''stuff for next season'' and make it really big and expansive and ''stuff that was already supposed to be on the game but still isn't'', like for example, the arcade machine, the perk update, new enemies that aren't related specifically to the themed season update, deepdive updates, maybe a third type of deepdive, maybe themed deep dives, idk, stuff that was already supposed to be in Hoaxxes and such, because having to wait 7 months for a whole new season and it doesn't rly give you something you actually are thrilled to play with is rly frustrating, I don't care much about new weapons, I think it would be better to refine some of the existing ones like making some overclocks more interesting, etc.

They really need to focus on adding unique bosses like the Caretaker. The Caretaker is the best thing in this game, basically a raid boss from an MMO, and it works incredibly well. We needed something like that with the plague fall, but instead we just got a carbon copy hacking section.

Harping on the "arcade machine" is just very weird. I highly doubt it's just a mini-game on the rig cus they didn't tease the soccer one in season one (from my knowledge at least). If it is I'll be upset about it too but even then I think they did it for two reasons; 1)They wanted to start slow to build hype then show more interesting things as time goes on, like how they are now currently showing the new enemies 2)To sneak in other details in the teaser like in the first one it seems the comet that's shooting out the meteors has landed on Hoxxes Saying that seasons will "ruin" the game I personally think is an overreaction. While my stance may change next season depending on how GSG implements the new enemies (from my understanding they are meant to be new "normal" enemies you can encounter during missions) they seem to be decent about adding new content and taking player feedback . The one thing I'll kinda agree is the content added in the seasons aren't enough for how long they've been lasting. We arguably got more content pre-seasons than during them but that could be due to the majority of that being in early access so they had more wiggle room for mistakes. Along with that it could be a curse of playing other games with faster updates that use crunch when GSG doesn't do that to my knowledge. Though this point can't be proved without further research which I can't be fucked to do. One final point; Season 2 roadmap only thing we had was secondaries; We also got nemesis, rival presence, and router event Season 3 Roadmap only thing we had was Grenades; We also got Meteors, rockpox enemies, new lithophage warning, and more cave variation The fact season 4 only saying "new Enemies" doesn't mean that is all we are going to get, there is certainly more I want to emphasis that I do agree with the fact that seasons do have issues but most of the points you say in this video are just iffy with me. It could just do to the fact you are speaking unscripted which I personally don't really like when it comes to a critique.

Yeah, I took a big gamble on the arcade machine. I hope I'm wrong, but I just couldn't help but be annoyed at the concept of a major portion of the season focusing on space rig content. I don't hate the space rig or anything, I'm just worried that the content in the caves for this season will be as weak as season 3's was. I don't think seasons will "ruin" the game per say, but I think that if they continue to be the same quality as season 3, they will make it less enjoyable overall. Still good at it's core, but with a bunch of fluff covering up the good bits. I had someone send me a document on reddit showing the time between each release, and it's been getting longer and longer since seasons started, but the actual amount of content isn't really increasing by that much (that's partially subjective, I don't have a full list of patch notes for every update ever on hand.) Yeah I keep having to say this in comments (this is not me being frustrated at you btw, more at myself honestly), but I should have fleshed out my point about the enemies a bit more. To me, it was disappointing to see "new enemies" be the headliner for the next update with nothing else but a vague "various other changes" alongside it. Like I said, I'm uncertain if the enemies could carry a weak update by themselves. I am aware that there will be more than just enemies added.

I think GSG is trying to expand the breadth of DRG, which I’d say is easier said than done. Let me elaborate: the original, core parts of DRG are very very excellent. The formula they had for the game prior to season 1 worked, the game was excellent. Season 1 did add some excellent new features, such as the season pass and some new events which helped beef up the game in a palatable way. However, even since season 1, I’ve found myself gravitating away from season modifiers and events, ESPECIALLY in season 3. Even before I had all of the season pass unlocked, I actively avoided Lithophage zones and rival presence modifiers. And I think this highlights an issue I don’t quite have the words for yet. Something feels off with the new content, but I still find myself absolutely enthralled with DRG. Perhaps the season format isn’t the problem, but the approach they’re taking to new content. Hopefully I can find a way to articulate what the feeling is in rhe future

I don't think that devs are going to show just one enemy and just one activity for Space Rig. At least they have to make a new topic or make this one better, and also the reason why they haven't added weapons in previous season may be that they've prepared something really cool for the 4th season. So don't get radically pessimistic and optimistic, at least we don't know even half of the information to know how to react to it.
@shadowhaxor99 Жыл бұрын
oh yeah, we already got a trailer for another new enemy so they're adding at least 2. Plus that "arcade machine" could be something totally different. I know I'm pessimistic in this video, but I think it's important to be negative sometimes so the devs can avoid making poor choices with the game. If I'm wrong, no harm no foul. If I'm right, hopefully they can take what's said and improve

And I was hoping for a "the rockpox has rapidly evolved!" type deal for season 4 to add onto season 3's general Idea. But instead we're getting some new enemies. But who knows maybe season 4 will be "The rockpox has caused mutations in some glyphid's DNA and has made them rapidly evolve!" And that's the lore reason on why we're getting new enemies.

(Also getting that warning of Meteors hitting you them coming down and tranforming the Landscape is pretty cool Imo) And the Performance pass is still great. You should be glad a indie developing team like GSG updates their game THAT regularly and the battlepass is free as well, mostly indie companies don't give a fuck about how their game is gonna go after a while, they're very seasonal on the mechanics they implement and they're always open to new ideas, the consistence on their lore is gold tier, stop complaining since no one else agrees with you, that's a really bad take.

As an old school Xbox pre release player, I am not really a fan of the seasonal content. It's just okay to me and after a short while it gets pretty old. With updates only coming twice a year or so I would rather see content added to the core game. Like more diverse enemies, more biomes, more mission types (please remove Industrial Sabotage - it's so tired), more mineral types, more traversal tools, weapons, grenades, rework unused/little used/silly Over Clocks, add new Over Clock's and new class(es)/female dwarves. Make promotion available at the Character selection terminal, it used to be in there way back in the day. I believe these things would go a long way to enhance what made the core game so strong, prior to the seasonal content. Wishlist Some cosmetic ideas, add a system to spend error cubes/bitter gems for fancy beards/armor/weapon skins. Make gold one shot material - like Nitra. Add a class specific legendary badge(s) to match Class color, i.e. Scout blue, Gunner green etc (after regular promotion legendary badges), to make a specific Class ultra legendary, Legendary Scout/Gunner etc... with a class specific armor/color/glow reward to match the new class legendary badge. One can dream...

Ypu have some points i agree with but what about oversaturation of the game? If anything seasons are forcing the devs to add, like you said, "enough stuff" to each season. When doed it brcome too much. Imo the devs should not be doing all this "story" kinda stuff and just focus a chunk of time on the raw game. For example add new biomes/reworking old ones

Honestly I hope they revisit the bots sometime soon, As most players including myself just boot off of the game when core hunt is on caretaker. As fun as it was the first time, It has the least variety and possibilities out of any mission in the game, While also being one of the longest and most tedious missions. Sometimes I even abort missions and wait a week just for another one. A bit of variety or improvements to the caretaker would be nice. Such as 2 different caretaker types or maybe even hacking pod variants. Caretaker is just a chore instead of a fun mission to me now.
@shadowhaxor99 Жыл бұрын
While I still enjoy the caretaker, I think that they could add a bit more variety too it. Same for the drilldozer actually, I think the heartstone would be better if it had more phases and it randomly selected 4 each time you fought it so there's more variety to the fight.

Yeah, I don't want to complain too much, but there are way too many comments that basically say "shut up and accept whatever GSG does because it's free". Would they feel the same if they made a free update that increased the price of every weapon upgrade by 5000%? Or if they made you spend 5,000,000 G to go on a single deep dive? Just because a game is free doesn't mean I have to shut up and take whatever the devs throw our way. Obviously the devs of this game have been way better than that, but this toxic positivity will kill this game if it gets out of hand. I feel like complaining about something being a reskin in drg of all games is not the best argument most of the progression is just cosmetics to unlock, the dwarves have the same voice just pitched up/down depending on the class, all of the friendly robots are either reskins on bosco or the mule every "biome specific enemy" (radioactive/frost/rockpox praetorians for example) are just pallet swaps of the original praetorian hell you could even make the argument that the pickaxe overcharger and the kursite grinder events are just reskins since one you have to kill specific bugs and the other you have to kill specific bugs with your pickaxe they've been doing this since release but that's also part of the charm I don't think drg would be as good if the dwarves had completely different voice actors or if lloyd wasn't just a bosco with a bowtie

I think the issue is that it really stands out because the rockpox swarms really lack variety. Thankfully it looks like things are changing, but man is it boring to fight a swarm made up of only 2 enemies.
