Caine is not a villain but he is basically the saying “The road to hell is paved with good intentions” he’s an AI that doesn’t know how to properly help the humans who get trapped there and is unintentionally hurting them

​@@alansmithee419 that oddly enough makes him humanish. My theory on his behavior is that his creator used themselves as a reference. So Caine's creator is most likely socially awkward, doesn't like being direct since they're shy, etc and that transfered over to Caine but in a more toxic way since he's AI and not a human (which would prevent him from picking up on ANY social cues that his creator might have been able to pick up on)

i see many people hate on caine but he’s just trying to make the group happy. he tried to create an exit just because they all wanted one and he makes them go on adventures to distract them or make them stay sane. Also according to the creator Caine can feel loneliness which (kind of) makes him human in a sort of way.

​@shrekmug3253 Not disagreeing, I'd just like to discuss Caine more because he's an interesting character So if what I heard is true, Caine genuinely wants to help and understand humans, he's just not very good at helping them The people want a distraction from their technically doomed fates So Caine made adventures to try and distract them But he doesn't understand that they don't like the adventures (for the most part at least) The humans really wanted an exit So he made one It was a fake exit, but he still made one But he doesn't get why the humans want one and why they would use one, and how it's supposed to make them happy So his understanding of the humans is... superficial? Is that the right term? I think his character is quite facinating and I'm wondering what they'll do with this goal for him in the future Because if I'm interpreting Caine's reaction to Gummigoo correctly, Caine very likely has accidentally erased a human before, and despite being AI, he's still traumatized

The teapot is a developer reference. It’s a simple object to make, but is complex enough to be used to test light while developing games. It makes sense there would be a teapot somewhere outside the main map, just like the asset library itself.

well in my opinion about this episode, it is that... I loved! it's not just everything about this episode that I love, it's also because of this one reference scene! why? well this fact will tell you everything and it will blow your mind to know why. Awesome history animator fact: The scene at 7:23 of Pomni stretching her arms and her legs shrinking between two trucks is a reference to Scrat at the end of the climax in Ice Age 2 made by Blue Sky Studios. which is more of a coincidence since the lead animator of "The Amazing Digital Circus", Kevin Temmer, was indeed an employee animator at the sadly now defunct Blue Sky Studios (the same animation studio that created the Ice Age franchise, Rio, The Peanuts Movie and many more!) working on only 3 movies for the studio before it was shut down: Ice Age 5, Ferdinand and Spies in Disguise! so in a way, Glitch Productions (the same team behind SMG4 KZbin videos) contacted and hired a Blue Sky Studio animator! Blue Sky Studios would be proud to see one of their latest and newest animators invested in something bigger and more talented. RIP Blue Sky Studios 1987-2021

I like how they go into the idea that despite Ragatha's attempts to bridge the gap, Pomni still felt isolated due to how desensitized everybody is to the events. It's nobody's fault of course, but mean that seeing them be emotional about the death of their dear friend allowed her to finally connect and see them as actual people stuck in this crazy place too, rather than other alien entities that happen to supposedly come from the human world too

He treats the adventures as nothing but the games they are , and he knows non of the players can actually get hurt. So he basically seeks stimulus and distraction using all'at. When that fails his facade falls and you can see him being vulnerable with his emotions, like how intensely upset he gets for the adventure not being much of an adventure, which is an overreaction. He also immediately slips his facade back on the moment he gets sad over ragatha mentioning the funeral, and ofc he doesn't attend. That will simply ground the fact that what's going on is real. All in all he's an ahole , but he's got more to him than that which is interesting to see

4:48 - You are the only reactor I've seen that actually noticed the signs outside of the castle. Admittedly I didn't even notice them when I first watched this episode, and it took me several rewatches before finally seeing them. Seriously, though, I get why Caine did what he did, but given that the AI he supposedly created is sophisticated enough to bet self-aware and go through an existential crisis upon finding out the purpose of his otherwise meaningless existence, it still feels cruel to just pop him away. This real dives into "what measure is a life", since Caine is clearly prioritizing the human lives over the NPC lives, and even then, he's completely oblivious to the trauma they're going through, particularly with poor Pomni. This series is so messed up, yet still manages to take itself seriously when it needs to, and has a lot of heart otherwise. That ending where Pomni finds comfort in knowing the rest of the humans in the Digital Circus (with the exception of Jax, but even he can't completely hide his feelings in this episode) will look out for her. After all, they're all in this together.

Huh, I didn't think much about why Jax didn't want to see the destruction that was going to happen, this makes me think he doesn't actually like that stuff and is just chaotic on missions to ruin Caine's game, play the way it's not intended or something (him looking sad when they talk about Kaufmo's funeral helps with that theory i guess, bc it proves he isn't really evil), and he doesn't feel guilty causing death and destruction because those aren't real people. Heh, I can't wait for an episode where they show us what is going on in Jax's mind, he has potential to be a very layered character.

5:35 I mean Im pretty sure it’s confirmed he is an ai but it is confusing what Caine does. There’s a lot of questions you can ask about Caine. Hopefully we will find out more about Caine in the later episodes. My guess is that he was made into the circus as a friendly wholesome game until humans tested the headset and got stuck. Caine is just there to stop them from going completely insane.
