The hilarious thing is how tiny that glass disc was compared to how big it would _really_ have to be to subtend an angle of 0.5⁰, as the sun does. Using Eddie's very credible figure of "a couple of miles" away, it would need to be 2 x tan(0.25⁰) x 5280 x 2 feet, or 92' (28m) across. To have an altitude of 13.5⁰, it will have to be hoisted 2535' (773m) - about half a mile! - in the air at its center.

@Dracopol6 ай бұрын
You can go to more than one spot in Antarctica, and the rays of the Sun will be nearly parallel across the whole expanse of the Antarctican continent. You can determine it is 93 million miles away; that fact has been measured several ways and is beyond dispute. Then you'll have to explain how the Chinese have made a track 584,000,000 miles in circumference to give an accurate impression of a Sun circling North, then West, then South, then East, as observed on several summer days in Antarctica. Hey, wait a minute! The Flat Earth says the Sun is overhead and can only be overhead in the Tropics, at latitudes between 23°N and 23°S! Seen from Antarctica, that means the Sun will never stray from Northeast to North to Northwest all year! But here the Sun is moving North, West, South, East daily! Therefore, the Flat Earth is false. One and done!

Place two observers a few hundred meters apart to establish a baseline roughly perpendicular to the Sun's direction, and have both measure the Sun's azimuthal angle from the other observer. Betcha the azimuths will show parallelism, indicating a distance to the Sun of at least hundreds of kilometers. Then calculate how high must be the crane hoisting this thing above the ground. To test the degree of precise control on the movement of this 'simulator', regular measurements of azimuth and altitude can be plotted to see if there are any meaningful departures from the majestic rate predicted for the real Sun. And given the heat output required to radiantly induce a given rate of temperature increase in an object facing it and shielded from wind and sky, a power output can be calculated. And telescopic images of this 'simulator' can be compared to simultaneous solar images taken elsewhere should sunspios be present. Oh, I forgot. TV commercials are based in reality. Look no farther.

The Sun's rays are attenuated as they pass through the atmosphere, leaving maximum normal surface irradiance at approximately 1000 W/m2 at sea level on a clear day. To get the blue sky, they'd need to be illuminating from quite well back, so let's go with that "top of the atmosphere" figure, not that any such top really exists, of course. 13.5° elevation angle, 80 km altitude (in magic flying yellow submarine) is about 343 km away. 0.5° angular size is about 1.5 km radius at that distance, 7 km² surface area. 9.56 gigawatts. Well, that's a bit awkward for a submarine with only 500 megawatts available to it, isn't it? They're going to have to put nine whole nuclear power stations on giant helium balloons and tow those behind the flying submarine to power the lamp, and at that distance they'll have to go 90 km/h to make it round in time, too. Can submarines go at 90 km/h? I've never heard of a submarine going at 90 km/h.
@keano14576 ай бұрын
@@Sableagle thats over 9000 megawatts! ...and towing helium ballons would make the sun wobble even more. im quite impressed anyone was bored enough to do actual calculations though : D also it wouldnt be 9 (500MW per sub), but... avg sub generates about 150MW of useful electric power, using about 50MW to keep up cruising speed. even if we assume it uses no power for anything else *and it does* that gives us ~100MW of useful energy. so we are looking at 96 nuclear submarines. and dont even get me started on a cable able to transfer that much power *and* light enough to be connected to a helium balloon

So can we talk about the dude wearing a sweatshirt with "Hiroshima" written on it? Uhhh....why? No college there that I am aware of and its kinda morbid tourist destination to show off.

Assuming the evil globes have the tools to fly a sun simulator that matches the globe predictions, where would be the real sun then ?😅

This is proof that flerfs will never give in. I believe you could take them up in a rocket, do an orbit and splash them down and they wouldn’t believe it.

Did they have the sun simulator in place for the Roald Amundsen expedition? 🤣😊 To figure out the direction to the South Pole and where it was required a 24-hour Sun.

Any coincident observations planned for we peeps in the higher southern latitudes?

That would have to be one huge light and it will get quite high in the sky especially as they will not be at the south pole
