Got a question, why does the elevation level for the globe predictions look so high at the extremes? I thought the prediction was 13 to 33 degrees. But the plot looks like over 15 and 35, just curious? Also what do you think the source of error was in the measurements for the angle? Cause flerfs are trying to run with this and say "the prediction doesnt match the result, globe debunked" butvas always fail to understand within margin of error haha. Great work as always!

@@davisgentry9690 the gnomen ie, the screw needed to be 6.2mm tall. I tried to be accurate but was a bit tricky. Also the screw needed to be pointy not a blunt M4 bolt. If you look the gap between 10 and 15 deg is only about 4mm. You need to imaging a 4mm dia circle at the end of the shadow and read the center. It was because I wanted to make it 80mm dia but the 13 deg angle needed a large device really. But it tell you the trend however. Let me know if you see flerfs ripping into the Jeranometer please,

Now there’s something about this that’s confusing me. Hopefully someone can give the answer. From what I see this whole event was based on seeing if the sun is observed in one of two ways. Either its apparent motion in the sky from that location behaves in one way, which would include the sun disappearing from direct view because it’s below the local horizon. In which case this indicates the earth is a flat plane. Or the suns apparent motion in the sky is observed throughout that same 24 hours, stays above the horizon. In fact stays within a predicted angle above the horizontal from the observer. This is with the sun being directly observed for all that time without interruption. In which case that would confirm the earth is a globe. Two Hypothesis when tested should confirm one of two predictions. Two ideas where we should see one of two possible results. So why is the term ”false dichotomy” being constantly repeated? Am I missing something? Are people getting upset about the on site menu choices? There was only one dish served or a whole myriad of choices that the term dichotomy is being incorrectly applied to. I’m asking as I know there were numerous references to their being such fantastic Chefs on site that the word falsely applied must be referring to the menu? I seem to have missed that bit. Is that why there was so much reticence from the flat earth community to come along on TFE. Was it that despite having Meat, vegetarian and vegan options there weren’t any sour grapes available for their dietary needs?

So the measured values at the bottom of the range were lower than 13.5 degrees and also at the high end they were lower than 33.5 degrees. Now of course the actual range limits would be somewhat lower because UG is actually about 10.25 degrees from the SP…but not enough to make the differences we saw. You said measurement of tiny shadows was the most likely cause of error…would that systematically bias your elevation angle measurements lower, or could there be some other source of error? Thanks…I honestly would like to know…this isn’t a trick question…I’m not a Flerf lol! PS I’m actually thinking of one that could lead to systematically lower elevation angles than those predicted, but I still don’t think it would be a three degree change…I haven’t done the math 😎
@whereswa11y
@whereswa11y 3 күн бұрын
Yes I saw that too, and I think the main error was that the gnomen had to be exactly 6.25mm tall. I think I got it close but I could not be sure. The second problem was I used a M3 screw and that meant the top was a cylinder not a point. I had to keep imagining a 3mm circle on the end of the shadow and read the center of the shadow. The 10 eg and 15 deg lines were about 3mm apart. And then I was doing that at 2am so I was tired and prone to "close enough" LOL
@jonemeigh5588
@jonemeigh5588 3 күн бұрын
@ Thanks so there’s all this, a built in .2-.25 degree error because UG isn’t exactly at 80 degrees South, and the one I was thinking of, which of course will only add fractions of a negative degree error…the Earth is slightly flattened at the poles and so therefore elevation angles will be systematically lower 😎 Thanks! Since the assistant to Arthur Conan Doyle’s great detective was too shy to ask, I will ask for him: 1) The two compasses weren’t pointing north and south…I heard these compasses gave trouble down south, and I’m guessing they weren’t designed to account for the magnetic declination down there. A am I correct on that and B how did you make sure the box was oriented north? Does Toon or Dave have video to confirm? 2) The box appeared to shift very slightly at 6 PM (the reflection of the discs were slightly different). While this did not appear enough to impact the experiment, do you have an explanation for that? Thanks…best to answer these questions here rather than have someone travel to another channel to see the discussion…

Reality is part of the globe “conspiracy.” It’s incredibly difficult to actually prove you’re on a flat Earth while it’s actually a globe. That’s why the have to come up with convoluted explanations to make a flat Earth behave exactly as a globe Earth would. Only flat Earthers believe the sun should set on a flat Earth. Anyone with sense can see that if a small and local sun remains above the plane of the Earth then everyone on Earth should see the sun 24 hours a day no matter where they are. It would just get smaller and lower in the sky when it’s on the other side of the Earthly plane. But that’s not what we observe. We see the sun at the same size all day long moving along an arc across the sky, exactly as a distance sun would appear to do from the surface of a rotating ball. So somehow they have to make the flat Earth behave exactly as the globe model predicts. So we get magical skies that changes perspective accordingly to where you are on Earth that makes a small hovering sun appear to go beneath the Earth for half the world. The result is an incoherent self contradictory mess of partial explanations with no predictive power trying to turn flat Earth into a globe without admitting it’s a globe. It is a truly remarkable feat of denial of reality.
