There’s also the bit about the war of Kalos and how Infinity Energy came from the ultimate weapon. Seeing as there’s a giant crater in the middle of Paldea, and that Paldea would technically be right next to Kalos (since Spain and France are connected in the real world), I rest my case.

I think Hisuin Typhlosion being a reference to Delta Typhlosion would be cool if it isn’t and just happens to be a coincidence. Heck Delta Typhlosions ability is called Shady Move and his one attack is Burning Ball that uses ghost and colorless but if it has 2 fires attached it burns the opponent just like Infernal Parade being a ghost type damaging attack that has a chance to burn

On that intro speech, I remember playing Diamond in early 2008 when I was 7. Years later, in 2012 I remember talking to people who played 3th gen games and even 2nd gen games, and we all felt this sort of disconnect. But whenever I hear we're already at the 9th gen, all I can think is how close our experiences were to one another. We had different Pokémon, but the core games were all the same. In a good way of course; Map layouts were incredibly open, yet so linear too. You'd go from one gym to the next, but halfway in your playthrough you'd cross the first city you went to, on your way to the 6th gym. Then you'd also have some amazing event in the third or fourth city, mid to late-game. And the entire leadup to the Elite Four. You'd ready yourself for the big fight against the champion, only to get your arse kicked, because you decided to skip about 30% of trainer battles thinking you were above them. And for the next three hours you trained on Victory Road. And only then, were you ready to face the Champion. This comment got a little out of hand whilst writing. But I think it's nice to reminisce on the good old days. I think a lot of us OG fans should look back on that. You'll never get those same experiences as you did playing Pokémon underneath your bedsheets in the middle of the night. But we can relive them in our mind. And I think that's neat.

I kind of like this new form. Having them basically be delta Pokemon sounds like a way to trip up opponents. They think they have the type advantage until they don’t

Would be better if it didn't add a ridiculous hat, and instead altered the Pokemon designs a bit (like replacing Fire effects on Fire Pokemon with Bubbles, or adding branches or flowers to Pokemon with Grass terra types)
@ajbXYZcool2 жыл бұрын
@@jesusramirezromo2037 Honestly that's a LOT of work, as not all Fire Pokémon have "fire effects", and it has to work where every Pokémon has to have access to Every Type. Without creating excess amount of extra work, because whatever you think about how "lazy" Game freak is, there does need to be a level of balance when it comes to where you put your focus.
@jesusramirezromo20372 жыл бұрын
@@ajbXYZcool Not that much work if they actually begin to make a "base" for each Pokemon body type It would not be much harder to implement than megas, just have an additional layer to the Pokemon moddel
@ajbXYZcool2 жыл бұрын
@@jesusramirezromo2037 Again, you're suggesting more work. They already HAVE a base - the default models. So your suggestion means they need to code and model, what, 400+ bases for the mons that end up in the game? Instead of what they have now, but use the default Form as the base and add something on top - the "crystal" texture and the type-based hats that are consistent across different Pokémon. You don't need to discern what makes each Pokémon flying type - does it have the balloons? Flying. And yeah of course Megas are relatively easy as they didn't make Megas for every Pokémon, so they were able to focus on making a limited number of new designs. They didn't paste modifying stuff on top of the default Form, those were completely different models. But since then, since they want to make the "gimmick" available to every Mon, then generally they cannot go as far and, yes, redesign them all. Not realistically. That's why Dynamax is just "make it bigger", and they limited how many they made Gigantimax (so less new designs).

I think another possible connection is that looking for rare gems is pretty similar to bug-catching in that it's very much a collector's game, where it's just as much about the journey as the actual thing you are searching for, and that journey often grows exponentially as you deeper and deeper and look for rarer and rarer things. Combining the two is a pretty genius idea. I also imagine this original inspiration is why they continue to teeter on stuff like reusable TM's and other items. Scarcity is kind one of the things that make collecting fun. It's not so much fun for the people who just like battling, but it makes it much more rewarding once you go through breeding for the perfect nature and all of that.

Elemental types being used in a variety of games tends to break down into 2 key reasons for existing. 1. Elements are a great way to add flair to designs. You can take the same type of enemy or item or whatever, and have different elemental variants of that concept with distinct a feel to each of them. 2. If a player is playing an RPG, they will just always use their strongest attack against every enemy. That gets boring fast, so by using elements, you can make certain attacks better for certain situations. A similar logic is used for the existence of status effect and critical hit systems.

There could be reason to believe that the world in Pokemon follows the Gaia theory - that the earth and all living beings behave as a single entity, so that is why you can have energy transfer between the earth and Pokemon so easily - that said there are Pokemon from space and other gimmicks have been the result of different sources (like Dynamax from Eternatus), but even so it might be worth thinking about.

The Plasma Spark, however, emitted Differator Rays that transformed the people into silvery giants with amazing powers. Sounds familiar eh? Their planet soon became know nas the Land of Light and they went on to form a galactic peacekeeping force. Ultra Megalopolis seems to draw inspiration from the Land of light, the Ultra Spark being kept in a tower at its center.

11:48 I feel like it's worth mentioning that, while not introduced until later in the franchise's history (after Pokemon was created I think, though don't take my word for it), it was said that the Ultraman characters were originally a human-like species who were mutated into their current form by a crystal that was made to replace their dying sun. And generally their home planet, the Land of Light, is depicted as having cities with buildings made from crystals. Could've been the inspiration for this particular trend or just a fun coincidence, but either way I think it's just a cool connection between Pokemon and one of its inspirations.

I think they were spot on with adding elemental types to spice up the combat system. As much as I love the Nidoking line (Used him for my very first team back in the day on the original Gameboy) and Rhydon (Used when I replayed Gen 1 with Fire Red), some of the most fun for me when playing new pokemon games is scouting for a team with multiple elemental types to cover weaknesses, boost team versatility and just add some variety.
