It is deeper than you think, the problem is that not everything is JTTW. Cell is not Tripitaka. You are missing the forest for the trees. There is a deeper, evolutionary reason for Cell the be insect-like. The problems, really with a lot of the videos, is that it takes certain similarities and reduces them down to, tHiS iS jUsT lIkE JoUrNeY tO tHe WeSt. The scene with Gohan and Cell is not derivative of JTTW, in fact it ignores several factors, Goku being wrong, Android 16, Dr. Gero, human nature itself RR, etc.

You're not wrong about the story of Sun Wukong and Buddha being ingrained in Asian culture. I still remember my mother used to tell the story of his adventures as a bedtime story when I was a kid. She even used to buy me several children books that told his story. There were several other Gods and Goddesses as well but my favorite was definitely the Sun Wukong since he was the most badass. Also, I wouldn't categorize this story as something like Snow White. I would say this is more similar to mythological tales like The 12 Labors of Hercules or The Clash of the Titans. It's a mythology, not a fairytale.

I like to think why Dr. Gero chose Cell to be more insect-like is because insects have an exoskeleton making them capable of taking on any damage to their body like a cushion. Meaning the harder the Z-Fighters hit him the less damage he’s actually taking from their blows

4:15 I never understood this. Vegeta said back in the Frieza Saga that Saiyans can't get stronger if their damage is self-inflicted, which is why he wanted Krillin to blast him and get stronger. Cell blew himself up. The obvious answer to this is that Toriyama forgot right? 😂

Remeber that Cell also had in his composition Piccoro's cellular structure (his regeneration capabilities to be more precise) and combining that with the saiyans cellular makeup possibly gave Cell a different kind of regeneration/healling capability much different and much more advance in comparison to normal saiyans not limited of where the damage came to or who caused it.

I always felt they should have wrote cell back in the story with a Cell Jr that survived and got away and that been living and eating for years a come back aged up, and a lot stronger. Maybe introduces villain that came to earth like because of the dragon balls. One that was powerful enough let one of the cell Jr eat it and he gets a big power up and wants to finish the fight with the z fighter. Still shouldn’t need Goku or Vegeta just a better origin story, that brings z back without A** pulls. I also think it would be interesting to explore the Cell Jr's perspective and how he has evolved over the years. Perhaps he has developed his own agenda and desires to surpass his creator. This could create a new dynamic within the story and add an element of unpredictability. Additionally, introducing a powerful villain who is attracted to Earth because of the dragon balls could raise the stakes and provide a fresh challenge for the Z fighters. This villain could have a personal vendetta against the Z fighters and seek revenge for past defeats. Overall, by expanding on the Cell Jr's story and introducing a formidable antagonist, the narrative could be revitalized in a way that feels organic and satisfying to fans.

@@ningamer5 I still find that fascinating. Goku's presence destroyed the technological limit that humans would normally be able to achieve. Gero made cyborgs that were stronger than a super saiyan, when base saiyans were already hundreds of times stronger than earth's strongest weapons. The future androids in future trunks' timeline were basically gods compared to the rest of earth.
