Apparently, their bosses at Colombia Records wanted The Seekers to put out another song called 'Hummingbird' as their next single at the time, but Judith Durham felt SO strongly that their next release just HAD to be 'The Carnival Is Over' that she insisted upon it, as she loved the song so much and she could immediately sense it's huge commercial potential. Judith's great instincts about the song were soon proven to be absolutely correct, as the single literally soared to No1 in the UK charts and was apparently selling over 60,000 copies a week. The supremely talented Ms Durham could certainly recognise a hit when she first heard one.

Sopranos, but in the popular music genre - thank goodness. For me - Judith, Julie, Nana, and Mireille. I'm sure all could do operatic soprano (Judith very versatile - her _preferred_ was Jazz; Julie is just Julie; Nana does _some_ classical. Mimi has sung a lot of classical pieces that normally aren't sung, such as Chaik PC1!), but I enjoy them all best when doing popular music. Judith is just lovely: I attended their (final!) farewell tour, and you could just feel the waves of affection from the audience (I was at the Sage in Gateshead UK).
