There is a youtube of a Mudmaster being dropped from below the stratosphere hitting a terminal velocity of like 80mph and hitting the ground. And survived. Boom.

I'd want the G Shock as a SHTF watch. However, despite usually having a preference for analogs, I would want a digital-only model for SHTF to eliminate moving parts.

Tuna shroud ~280-300$, Mudmaster bezel ~25$. Drop both from same height and count which suvives the most drops? Service tuna vs actual cost of mudmaster. Mudmaster can utilize same straps, with adapters of course, plus casio exclusive straps. Atomic timekeeping can be turned off. Mudmaster has waay more timekeeping functions, truly functional ones at that. They both have multiple cool colorways. Seiko is beautiful. Casio is next level functional and more affordable. If I could afford the seiko id get it for my birthday 😳🥳

Enjoyed the review. I have recently caught the GShock addiction and would love a Mudmaster in my collection. The Mudmaster is a watch with a purpose and quite rugged. While I keep trying to shake the Seiko habit after one too many misaligned bezels and chapter rings, I can't help but come back to the endearing quirkiness of suck randomness. A lot like how beautiful ugly life can be, except expressed as a watch. Anyway, the Seiko Tuna is pulling my heart towards its beautiful ugliness in its robust, purpose driven existence. It would look better all scratched and dented-up, displaying the rugged life of its owner. This convinces me not to get one over the other, but to pursue both in the coming months.

I prefer the Tuna. May consider one of the new metal G-Shock models if their prices came down, but the lack of traditional lugs still bother me. The reissued "Arnie" is something I'm considering as a sort of middle ground yet generally if the price goes down as otherwise I'd go a completely different direction.

If I had to pick one, it would be the Tuna, hands down, no questions asked. Yes, the Hardlex scratches. Yes, you have to change the battery. Small price to pay for what's possibly the best quartz diver ever made. The only thing I'd change is the PS logo on the crown🤷‍♂️

I have the Seiko Tuna and the Mudmaster GG-1000-1A3DR. Both are great. I use the Tuna on a rubber strap for diving and the G-Shock for trekking which I will be doing this week so wearing it right now. I love both but not one more than the other as they're suitable for different needs. I do prefer the dial on my Mudmaster to the GWG-1000 here, it's more attractive in my opinion, but otherwise it's generally the same but without solar or altimeter.

I would take any Hamilton Khaki. The others have battery's and you might not always have that. I can take an automatic apart and service it. If I needed to for a SHTF situation. IMO the module or battery on those watches wouldn't be ideal for long term SHTF situation. Mad Max wears a Khaki!! lol BUT!!! I gave my Grandson a G-Shock this Christmas and he loves it. His cheapos were spending more time at my shop than on his wrist, simply because hes a rough and tumble kid. G-Shocks are not my thing but it was the first thing I thought of when buying him a good durable watch. Great vids!! Keepem coming!

Like in the other Video about the GWG1000: I can’t comprehend how someone doesn’t appreciate the atomic time Receiver. This is what defines the Mudmaster as the Perfect bundle. A watch that virtually never stops running and hasn’t to be adjusted, even not for DST. Hope they will update it sometime, like a GWG1080p with an oled Display that has a better resolution and a sharp backlit dial like in cars before they implemented tft displays. A titanium case added and I’d buy it right away.

Of the two presented options I'd take the g-shock. In reality I'd take a thinner digital like a Timex Expedition Atlantis. I wore one back in Afghanistan, and it served it's purpose quite well. Can get one for $55 CAD, so you can afford a few spares on the off chance it breaks.

It's really an apples to oranges comparison. An analogue stainless steel watch to a resin made digital watch. The ONLY thing that's close enough is both use quartz movements (one is solar so rechargeable by the sun). I love GShocks, etc but no one will take you seriously wearing an oversized 'plastic' watch. I'd pick the Tuna anyway (and versatile with both leather/rubber straps and stainless bracelet). I own Breitling, GShocks but I wear my Turtle the most. There's just something about Seiko divers.

I will say . I own a Seiko Samurai and a G-shock analog frogman. The analog frogman is a bit more comparable to the tuna due to being a diver watch. there is just no question on which watch i would wear for tough situations. every time i wear my samurai on a nato strap I love it. but it is my jeans and polo watch . When I take my watch to coach tennis only once have i taken my seiko samurai and i was concerned that a kid would hit it with a racquet or that the pins would not be strong enough to hold it under force. When I wear my G-shock frog I have 0 regards or worries that my G is going to get hit or is going to fly out or anything . In comparison I paid 700 dollars for my g-shock and I paid 400 dollars for the samurai .. If I was a deployed grunt I would pick my g-shock every day over the seiko for sure. Things to consider: The G-shock has screwed in bands the seiko has pins. The G-shock protects its face with plastic bumpers. the seiko has a ceramic bezel . The G-shock is always on time to the second thanks to its atomic and blue tooth time keeping .. the seiko may or may not be accurate due to it being mechanical. The G-shock has a double pin clasp the seiko has a metal one. a close one here. The G-Shock is mostly plastic where the seiko is metal , metal can corrode and rust. The G-shock is quarts with an impact dampener and magentic resistance. the Seiko is mechanical hence vulnerable to impacts and magnetism can wreck havok on a mechanical watch. The G-shock has a back up light and lume, the seiko has lume , if I was a grunt i rather have the light so i dont have to shine a flashlight on the face in the middle of a covert operation . There is just 0 comparison. the seiko to go out and maybe office work, the G-shock is a field watch period! Now I know the tuna is quartz.. but seriously though , a quarts watch for 1500 dollars ? would you really wear a 1500-2000 watch to wear it to the ground ?
@zackinblack
@zackinblack 2 жыл бұрын
In terms of style the tuna takes this home. But with the tuna you have to replace the battery which sucks. Most watchmakers don't replace the proper seals and it can cause leaks and damage the integrity of the watch. The g shock pretty much ensures that it stays sealed from the factory.

Nicely done. I like this type of comparison. I hate those reviews that score points. Too subjective and only the reviewer's point of view. Both watches seem solid and back up their claims. Unfortunately, even though I like a larger watch dial, these are just too big.

Hi TTT, love your channel, love your humor. Note though, the 200 m and 300 m waterresistance does not normally mean that at watch can be worn down to those deepts, Actually the recomendation on a 200 m is that you can swim and snorkle with the watch, no tankdiving. Oh and buy the way, I want both, but if I have to choose it would be the Seiko, its already hard to get here in Denmark, and the secondhandmarked is crazy, think it could actually be a good investment.

So, I do like the mudmaster for the most part. It has a great many features that make me wonder why but for many "because they can" is the only reason they need. Being in the market for a good watch for everyday I would like to find a tough solar bluetooth or atomic capable, water proof analog watch. all the sensors and the other clutter within the mudmaster I have no use for. Also, I have no willingness to pay $400 or more on a watch. Of all my gear a watch is by far the least important but I still like to have one. Any suggestions on a more reasonable priced and equipped g shock

My distressed Seiko SNE-441 solar is my work heavy hitter, but my next could be a metal G-Square or Marathon...

Thanks to you I have both jajajaj I made the change of the strap to the Mudmaster but did not like it and switch Back to resin. Love them both. Always on my bed table. Could you make a video of the New Rangeman? I have that one too. Greetings from México.

I feel like I’m about to get watch person hate, but... while I appreciate the Tuna, it’s not my choice for a Seiko SHTF watch. If you’re being serious about SHTF Seiko watch you should be looking at a Seiko 5. My reasoning is it’s inexpensive, it’s an absolute beater, and replacement parts are plentiful everywhere for when something inevitably fails. My personal SHTF, as well as daily watch is a Khaki Field Watch. It’s simple, and it always works.
