I know people don’t like to hear it but if you can afford it, 5 bonds is 150m, only like 30 bucks. It’s a good start if you need the help. One time purchase of 5-10 bonds is 150-300m, will get you some t90 stuff and once you have the armour and weapons you can start making money and you won’t have to worry about buying bonds again.

On the other end of the spectrum I finally went to Raxx for the first time in 3 years, and I'm not really a "hardcore pvm'er" and got my first two kills back to back, first try, on minion path xD Wouldn't have had the stones to do it if not for free deaths this week though. had a beginner like that yesterday. He was saying he wants to do ambassador and has already done him 6 times in group. Using chaotics as weapons, I doubt he knew that he was lacking SEVERELY in damage, which meant I had to do 90% of the damage on spinners and the whole fight. Me being a good guy, put up a gem and made him dps with me, as he said I was the one lacking damage lol. I outdpsed him by 100k dpm. Told him multiple times he has to focus on lower bosses first, but he did not listen

About death costs. How about making practice mode actually viable by making it not use supplies. Since it doesn't give any rewards but you still need to use your own supplies there is 0 reason to use it to learn a boss.

This is a big thing that's turned me away, Dropping 200k on supplies just to fail sucks hard. Very discouraging when I can just go mindlessly grind ED3 or Slayer without having to rely on luck. Spent a week learning Rax melee, still can't get to last phase comfortably (Bandos + DRL). I could save for T90s but what's the point? I'm technically out gearing the boss at that stage so why do it? Where is the progress path for PvM then?

Possible upgrade to boss practice mode: A 'Bossing Tutor' (a maxed player-style NPC). They tell you they've mastered all the bosses and would be willing to tutor you (maybe have a miniquest too). They offer the option for you to call on their supervision at any boss instance (in place of the practice mode option). They appear at the instance door but don't join the fight, just supervise outside preventing death cost. EXTRA FEATURES: - They offer free unlimited supplies to trade at the instance door, but in return the tutor would take the drops as a kind of tuition fee. - Also, there could be an extra option to pay a relatively small fee to rent gear/weapons from the tutor in his trade menu (all the way up to t92s), allowing you to try out stuff you maybe can't afford, but are thinking of saving for. This would help you determine which items/gear maybe best for your levels, bossing preferences and experience of mechanics etc to maximise DPS. It would also allow players without highest tier gear to defeat and master high level boss mechanics. Finally, after fights you get a grade based on your time. If you defeat all bosses with the highest grade under the tutor's supervision, you get some kind of reward, i.e. an ability they'd offer to teach you (or a cosmetic override of gear they're wearing). TL;DR - replace boss practice mode with a bossing tutor that offers free supplies and optional rented high lvl weapons/gear at instances, they take your boss drops as their tuition fee. Complete their tuition by defeating all bosses under their supervision for either an ability they'd teach, or a cosmetic override of what they're wearing.

While I do agree with most things you said it isn't that bad as a newer player. I introduced my girlfriend to RuneScape and rerolled a new account too to check the new player experience (I am a long time player). While PvM items are incredible expensive many skilling activities also have a huge bump in profitability....Like a salmon is 500gp, a willow log is 400gp. Right now you make a lot more money from low level leveling than when I played and it was bot infested/inflation amount of items of resource in the game. Don't get me wrong it still isn't balanced....fishing salmons or cutting willows for a pair of cinderbanes is still a grind that shouldn't be THAT kind of grind.

Part of the issue with the current state of the rs economy is ed3 trash, the sheer amount of alchs coming into the game due to bots and normal players farming add too much gp into the game without a real coin sink. All that gp is getting put into bis gear which all the already rich people are the ones getting the drops so they get the bulk of the gp.

I like Runescape, but when items become unobtainable and ridiculous by prices, as a 'normal Runescaper' this does not make the game fun and makes me feel like I want to quit. Bosses have practice mode for a reason, but WHY does practice mode use supplies? I say it should replace all your items/charges to what it was before. I LOVE the Yak Track because it motivates a max player, such as myself, do things I would never usually do.

This right here is the main thing keeping me from learning Raksha. If I knew I could do practice mode for as long as I needed without worrying about dumping millions into supplies, I'd be all over it. But as someone who is really not very good at prayer flicking while also keeping up enough DPS and doing other mechanics (even with revo), the amount of supplies I burn through just makes me not want to bother and stick to bosses I know like Rax and Nex. My death costs aren't that high to begin with (even without RoD they're typically around 1.5m), but the cost of the supplies I go through trying to learn a boss like Raksha adds up VERY quickly.

I feel like ED was slightly glossed over. The issue everything has risen in price is due to inflation with so much regular cash coming in through Elite Dungeons. There's so much cash in the game that those who can make all the money are the ones controlling the prices. Elite dungeons needs a hard nerf and I think that would go a long way to fix many problems.

For your old video statement on cinderbanes, recently Maikeru makes video saying off-hand ripper claws are less than 1m and are best offhand to use on budget. Ends up immediately that 3m offers don't even go through cause the've been bought by those who need them or merchers. They essentially were pushed immediately to other off-hand prices so it's no longer budget within a couple days of video release.

Well stone spirits as a drop is a big ass troll but I gotta say that Nex has a pretty decent drop rate of around 1/21 unlike other bosses so you can expect a drop every 21 kills Once you get into it and get used to using defensives such as resonance or devotion orrrr get into prayer flicking you can use little to no supplies at all as nex is pretty forgiving Keep trying man, you will get better This is comming from a dude who struggled real hard at nex and is now at around 500 kills while using almost no supplies at all while being on a nihil

One point I think you're missing (you kind of covered it) is COVID. COVID has been a MASSIVE boon for player numbers. That coupled with the emphasis this year one PvM has a lot more people looking to get into PvM and therefore wanting PvM supplies and gear driving up the cost. How you fix this is by making PvM more accessible. Truly free practise modes that refund supplies consumed in the instance. That way you can move up the boss tier list without any barrier to entry. I think we'll see the benefits of this idea rather soon with free death week, you're going to see boss items drop as more people are going to try bosses they've never tried before. It's still going to be profitable, but it's just not going to be outrageous. Accessibility, that's the key. Without it, you get the elites controlling the market

I disagree with a couple things in this video. Vindy and Helywr are decent money because even in tier 80 gear, you can no food both as a mid tier PVMer. IMO, if you're not doing GWD1 to learn bossing, you're gunno struggle. If you only do ED money runs, you're still low tier. Knowledge is more key than fancy gear. As for price of items like Eldritch or Cinderbanes, they're BIS gear in the game. If the BIS is not the most expensive it suggests a diverse weapon or armour choice, which RS doesn't really have. If it's because the Richer players are crashing the market, then that's sad. But they should be expensive.

That's the problem though. Why do GWD1 to learn and drop money on when the game screams to do ED3. If there was maybe say a roadblock in place that pushed people through GWD1 before doing the next tier I'd honestly be ok with that. It'd be really nice to have a clear progression path to go down in-game so people, like me, who hear nothing but Rax, Nex, Raksha $$$, who then go do these bosses only to slam into a reinforced wall despite having appropriate level gear.

Adding platinum tokens would take extremely little effort. You make a new item, which you 'buy' and 'sell' at banks for 1000 gp each, and which naturally has a 2^32 stack cap because Jagex refuses to update to 64 bit, effectively increasing gold cap 1000x.

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but I can’t use my key Binds using my keyboard. So if I set a key bind like open the prayer box to F1,F2,F3 and so on I can use these keys to open that icon however if I set like the keybind “M” to open up the map, it just won’t work. Or any other letter keybind. And yes my keyboard works because I can type In chat and what not. I have looked all over the internet/Reddit and haven’t been able to figure out why this is happening. Can anyone help? Or has experienced this before?

Currently trying to learn telos during free death week and it is really rough. PVM is so expensive and there is cash at the end of the tunnel but to get to that point is rough. I have noticed though that as I get better at telos I get better at other bosses.

This has personally been a problem for me. I have recently gotten back into runescape (after years of being idle) and It's been difficult for me to get into bossing. From what I can tell, bossing is the best thing to do. The problem is everything is so expensive, and there isn't really any way for me to make the expected amount of money. Some "casual" setups are like over 500m right now, my budget is nowhere near that. I don't want to spend days grinding out money just to be able to buy one decent item for a bossing setup.

Why not boss for fun, make money as a bonus, and upgrade gear as you go? That's the mentality I always had and its why I got to end game with everything BIS without burning out. If you don't like bossing, just don't do it. There are other ways to play RS3. Also, it's the same as it's always been. In fact it's easier to get good gear now. The thing that Protoxx conveniently overlooked is that gp rates at bosses have surged drastically. When I grinded my BIS melee setup for example, I made around 35m/hr and ZGS was like 1b, khop like 900m and tmw same price. That same boss (ED1) at the same kph is 50m/hr rn which more than makes up for the price increase of that gear and supplies. Other bosses I do like ED3, AoD and Telos have seen an even greater increase in gp/hr.

I was doing vindy in full subjugation with obliteration staff. Low tier perks on gear. It's under 100m for that setup and you should be able to do all the gwd1 and 2 bosses with it. If mage isn't your can of beans you can use. Full bands very cheap or Full amradyl I think it's around 45m Pwrk that gear out and you can do all gwd1 bosses and gwd2. I haven't tried ed2 bosses yet but gonna try with that gear

In regards to death costs, I saw a post somewhere I can't find anymore that suggested that practice sessions could reward players, but heavily tax them. It suggested that practice mode can do one of if not a hybrid of the following things: -Offer 'mental supplies' similar to how the Dominion Tower offers Scorpion meat and Dominion brews so you don't eat up actual supplies in what is effectively a grindy minigame. -Give rewards to players, but induce a HEAVY penalty. Say maybe pay half to 75% of the price in order to claim it. This way if a newbie gets a common drop they don't care about, they can discard it, or pay a majority of money in order to get it. -Lock rewards behind a non-practice kill. Basically, for a boss, you get a few kills in practice mode where the game pools your loot from successful kills. However, in order to get those loots, you need to kill the boss outside practice mode. It will either add those loots to successful kills, or allow the player to pick the loot left behind, or go with a random roll. Motivation for players to try the real deal. -Practice mode should be allocated to an NPC in Lumbridge who will let you use any supplies, armor or weapon in the game at any boss. No rewards, you don't bring your stuff in. This would allow players to test if their current gear is good enough, or what would be a worthy upgrade or strategy. One headache of practice mode is needing to go to certain bosses, and I sure as hell doubt players want to get 40kc at GWD just to find out their rune and dragon gear isn't going to cut it. -Remove practice mode entirely. It wastes time and supplies, and gives no rewards. Penalty for failure is NOT removed but rather mitigated. Supplies, gear charges, familiars, etc. are gone when you complete or fail a practice session. You may not pay a few hundred thousand to a few mil to save your stuff if you wipe, but those supplies are gone. Only time I've EVER seen it useful is for HCIM to warm up to a boss with gear that's inferior to a main so they know if they can do it without losing HC status.

I'm maxed combat and have most things unlocked and returned recently after a long break and the single most hardest thing is to get consistent money from pvm even with overloads and mostly trimmed masterwork equipped. My main goal is to get 99 invention for end game play but it's ridiculous how hard it is to generate money for it as i get a lance once in a while or other drop which most of the time end up paying for supplies leaving no money for upgrades or to train other skills... the economy is just so punishing now

Just do slayer to train invent, it's consistently good money. I got most of 120 invent that way. You can slay in like t70 armor but your best weapons for a lot of tasks so the charge drain and supply costs are low. Fishing is also pretty good too since its afk and makes money

I started doing solo Nex kills finally, first few hours were riddled with stone spirit drops, 20k in stone spirits? cool, my 1 brew flask was 46k. :c This does have a happy ending, around 50kc, I got Torva legs, then 10 kills later Torva boots but that was with relatively good rng.

I've been literally nodding my head for 18 mins now. I can't agree more. Even with ZGS and Trimmed masterwork I see this massive PvM issue with many guys. Few days ago one guy like 85 combat stats asked me about t92 stuff, getting some, how do I make money, what bosses etc. and I just told him to go Shadow Reef. It makes me sad in a way that it would be so much more fun for him (me remembering good old days on Graardor for example) when you could a) make money, b) learn boss and c) have fun all at the same time. But the RS economics is super wild and players with combat stats below like 90 (95) and without t80 (85) gear already pretty much can't make money at such rate to keep tempo with rising prices of high end gear. Treasure hunter is a topic on its own and I just hope for GWD3 update to be.. I dunno... reasonable.

Thank you for voicing my concerns. I have recently 99 def/mage through ed3 and been training the rest of my combat stats. I am finally able to afford Bandos/Subjugation/Armadyl, but I really cannot get into bossing. I feel like I have nothing to do/look forward to in the game. The bosses worth doing are so hard to do without good gear. Even a dragon rider lance is worth 50m. How am I supposed to get good gear with perks and have supplies of food and train Herblore to 96 for Overloads when I cannot do any worthwhile bosses efficiently. One of my accounts got perm banned for major macroing, without I had ever touched a macro/bot at all. When I appealed, it got denied. Their player supports sucks, and they don't do anything to fix that. There is no way to contact jagex. this should never have happended, and I lost an account by that. it was their fault, and they makes me 0 ways to defend myself, so my account doesn't get perm banned. I have played runescape 3 for many years, and I must say, when that happended, it made me want to quit the game.

My account got locked for over a year 3 days after I got 120 runecrafting just because I tried to change the email on my account. ( I no longer had access to the old email) I provided them with the username ( not email since I’ve played for 15 years) as well as many other confirmation numbers from purchases I’ve made on the game. Even with all the confirmation numbers, passwords, and so forth they said it was not enough evidence to unlock my account. I was very upset, you put all this time, money and effort into the game and the support from jagex a lot of the times is horrible because they only use an automated “bot” to check the info. I think the ring stand is an excellent idea and a cap on death costs makes a tonne of sense. I'd probably move it from anachronia though because you'd assume you could put any ring on the stand, so the meta would be to hang up your asylum surgeons ring. which is even more power creep. Alternatively, putting your luck ring on the stand would conflict with the archeology relics. I'd probably put it in death's office with a 250 reaper point unlock.

Stone spirits infuriate me. I did 10 hours of Vindicta and almost every other drop was stone spirits. It took me 300 kills to get my first and only rare (a crest). Stone spirits need to be removed or only drop from very specific enemies.

Up until recently there was no need for platinum tokens, spirit shards had the same function. It's only about a month ago some party hat prices increased over the value of a max stack spirit shards. But however you look at it those prices are just too high, the price is the problem not the way those items are traded

I'm also a returning player. My best weapon is dragon rider lance and armor is elder rune or bandos lol. But to do proper bossing you need to spend hundreds of millions of gold to billions on armor and weapons and you need to buy prayer codex books that's over 1 bill and you need 3 of them if you want the best prayer boost and you need to spend millions to billions on ability codex for stronger versions and you need all of those if you wanna kill bosses faster and more effectively. Invention and codexes are crazy helpful and crazy expensive and are crazy tendered toward the upper class player. I theorised this when alchemical hydrix was released, and it's to do with the rings. Similar to how the EoF works with combining the Reaper Necklace and Amulet Of Souls, there could be a ring that combines the ring of death and let's say the ring of vigour or asylum surgeons ring, this will reduce ring switching as well as giving a new bis ring with multiple effects. It should be upkept wit alchemical hydrix dust, the same as the EoF, as this will keep onyx/hydrix prices up.

i was just thinking about this topic and was gonna make a video, but this video says it all very clearly. I recently joined a clan a few weeks ago and while playing with them i realized what a struggle it is to get into RS3 in 2020/2021. I joined up with a fellow and he was expressing interest in bossing. So i started asking him if he had this or that, such as a scythe, TMWA, and switches like DW drygore and MWS w/ lunging. He had none of these items. Then come to find out, the majority of the clan members don't either, yet they spend day after day on the game. I realized players are basically farming Kree'arra all day every day due to the afk and low input cost, if not running ED3 to get to 99 combat stats. I had my head in the sand for years, and now im farming ED1 making billions, but not realizing that basically nobody can make the high end money because of the gear barrier and cost. Players in 2020 and 2021 are basically stuck doing GWD1 and ED3 to get anywhere in this game now due to input costs or gear costs that are the gateway to make it to things like GWD2, ED1-3, and Telos. Just as you said, the issue comes when they finally get that big upgrade, like a fucking 300m scythe (that i paid 160m for). Then they want to take it to the next level, and realize they never learned how to actually play the fucking game, and are stuck to continuing on with the slog of GWD1 and ED3 because they have no idea how to practice or "get gud" as they say. The game's economy is in such a fucked state, im shocked newer players don't just throw in the towel and come back when the economy has unfucked itself. I do not know the resolution to fix the economy other than increase drop value at low-mid tier bossing for newer players to keep up with input demands such as vamp scrim/potions/divine charges/ etc etc etc, however i truly hope jagex figures this bullshit out. I love playing this game, and im having a very chill time, but only because i bought all my T92's and upgrades when they were reasonably priced. However, i see all these clan mates of mine struggling and getting excited for a 5m drop, and all i can think is... 5m is a fucking joke at this point. Only 295m to go to get your scythe, and 100's of hours to get there at that rate. It feels nice to know I'm apart of the middle class in Runescape, but you make a lot of good points Protoxx. I maxed my combat stats in ED3, and the only PVM experience I had before was from GWD1. I had to practice with GWD2 bosses in particular Helwyr, to prepare myself for other more challenging bosses. Death costs suck, and a ring stand would be cool. Thats one less thing I'd have to carry, but honestly they should cap death costs. I spent +5M learning Arraxor last month, which isnt much but between the cost of PVM items and time spent, it hurts.

One solution could be to just significantly increase the inventory size to lower the time to farm PVM adjacent inputs like food. Increased supply would put downward pressure on prices. You could even just create a separate inventory for the “Bible” skills, where something like raw food would be treated separately

This is a topic I can say I'm really invested in; I'm a low-mid tier pvmer learning as I go (from clan mates), trying to get what upgrades I can. I set a goal for dual ascensions a while back, when ascensions were ~40m each- then saw them rise to 60m each, and now here we are at over 200m *each*. The nox bow is ~150m, which is a a really high goal, but still grindable eventually. However, when I look at individual slot upgrades for different things, I can't even fathom spending that much on the item right now. Paying 80m+ for a single upgrade brutalizes my bank, especially since I rely on getting membership through bonds in game. My average cash stack, on a good week, is 20-30m; more than that at a single time is really rare, less than that is not an uncommon occurrence. It's more feasible to look at how I could go about farming the upgrades for myself at this point, rather than buying them.

Surely there are a lot of issues that play into the rise of all the pvm items, but one thing that basically nobody ever adresses are the relics from elite dungeons. Who thought it would be a good idea to introduce items that basically serve no purpose other than being alched for A LOT of gp. With the amount of people doing elite dungeons, this is a recipe for hyper inflation. Why not make relics only alcheable for Ironmen, so for other people its only useful for disassemly. I know this takes away a good income source for mid level player, but as mentioned in this video there are other ways like slayer or certain skilling methods (blood runes, bgh, etc.). Another thing i thought a lot about is scaling drop chances to the player level. Like dividing a drop chance by the level of the combat style you did most of the damage with. That would mean that people, who are lower level and struggle to get as many kills per hour have a higher chance of getting a good drop. I dont know if that would be good for all the bosses, but i think doing that for bosses, who drop around T80-85 gear would already help a lot for mid tier players getting into pvm. Surely both these things don't resolve the current issue completely, but imho it's a good starting point.

PvM inflation has also lead me to treat my account like an ironman. One thing that made me appreciate inflation in RS3 is that now when I kill dark beasts, I bring magic notepaper because it is profitable to note the shark drops! Sharks are double the price of magic notepaper! To be clear, I note them for use in bossing and do not sell them, but I would never buy food on the GE now.

I like your idea of a ring stand, but it would have to be pretty hard to achieve, with a lengthy set of requirements because the death costs are actually quite fair. The cost of paying to keep your items will always beat out losing them all together. Let’s not forget the alternative to bribing death in order to keep your items. We already have practice instances, signs of item protection and an item protect prayer. There are plenty of ways to mitigate your death cost. And if youre dying with dyed items, 10-15m really isn’t that much for you and repeatedly dying with dyed items means youre literally choosing to ignore all the options of saving yourself money. I’ve lost hundreds of millions to death costs and even i have to admit, its not that bad.

You are knocking the nail on its head. i got the gear, but i just cant do any boss. getting oneshot left en right. Not to mention the non combat methods giving max 10m/h

One solution to deaths, to still allow for the money sink: Only start charging you for deaths from a boss after you have a KC threshold in the boss; which could scale with difficulty and/or drop values. e.g after 50 bandos kills you are charged for deaths thereon. Just a threshold by which point it is agreed that you will understand the mechanics and that the death was your fault, rather than just being new.

Kinda weird this is the opposite problem osrs has. I see what you're saying but I think the death mechanic is good for the game. There has to be a real consequence for death to create a sense of danger/excitement for the fight. Maybe give reduced costs if someone is under 25kc or something. It sucks now but more players coming in is good for the game long term and things will balance out. Runescape is a game of grinds. It makes the rewards that much sweeter. The "best" gear isn't necessary for the vast majority of the game and it should take a serious amount of time to get.

I don't agree with this. Sure death costs shouldn't be eliminated but why punish learners? The language of current Runescape is 'gp/h', entry-level bossing has already become obsolete for new players. Where is the incentive to learn PvM and get into higher tiers when there are several, more accessible, less punishing, gp/h avenues? I came back to the game (from 2005) when it launched on Steam. PvM was originally the goal for me but after stepping into it, seeing the amount of gp and time I'd have to drop just to get my foot into the door comfortably, I just don't see the point. I'd be better off getting a Max Cape at this point. The trade-off for learning PvM isn't there right now.

@@phreak9263 you can do practice mode and lose nothing on death i practice with no food no overloads no supplies to get my rotations down when i die i tele right outside of the boss and i get to reenter instantly

@@ThePhreakyPyro What bosses are you doing...because outside of perfect play, flicking, reso abuse you're not getting very far without food, adren pots, etc. With brews, jellyfish, pots I can easily go through them on Rax as Melee/Magic. That's 300k right there.

@@phreak9263 lets see i do vindy sometimes nex rax (rarely now even though it is killer money nowadays) mid tier bosses and the lower high tier bosses. I put my time in though to aquire gear I have 120 slayer I did alot of gwd1 bosses to get better at res I have a planted feet switch on a sun spear so I can share it with range and mage the weapon was more or less free. Any food I use I fish and cook myself. Any potions I use I make myself (mostly kingdoms for herbs and trees for nests) gwd1 is decent money 3-12m/h depending on rng without high tier supplies you can get away with super potions and sharks easily

@@phreak9263 also the boss i was referring to was when I was trying to learn telos (and failed LOL) and then raka (new boss) i havent given up on raka but I also have not put any real time into it maybe 20 minutes.

They made invention to take items out of the economy and keep their prices up, but there's absolute nothing to take GP out of the economy. When invention first came out and I found out about leveling and disassembling the first thing I thought was "cool, now all the rich people will be buying them and destroying them for parts so their price is gonna stay crazy high". Death costs obviously take money out, but once someone learns a boss it's totally irrelevant, all it does is punish is people trying to enter the PvM scene. I have been tracking the price of gear I want to upgrade to, and the price is inflating at a faster rate I can even make money to get it. It always pisses me off when someone in my clan goes "gonna diss more nox stuff for comps lol :)" I feel like all the stuff added to try and fix the economy just artificially fix the problems of pvm

In my opinion, the only way to make bossing comparable to elite dungeons is to continue to have elite dungeons be consistent money for example 5m/hr and then bosses should be less consistent at 3m/hr with high priced rare drops. That way elite dungeons is still profitable, and bosses will be almost as profitable if you are doing a few bosses, but if you do bosses for longer periods it becomes more profitable than elite dungeons because of rng. This way you don’t feel like your time was wasted on the 60 kills that didn’t have the rare drop, but you also can’t just get 3 kills and get high valued items.
