I like that Ocean Master with the Cabo 120. That's a sweet set up. It looks nice too.

I will be using the Cabo 120 a lot more starting in 2023. I will be using it with several different rods depending on the conditions, even though it is way overkill for anything but the biggest Blacktips! Thanks for Watching!!

Great video! Is the 10’ ocean master a 50/50 split??
@koreanfishingwife87663 жыл бұрын
Mine is the older version and is about a 60/40 split. I believe the newer version is the same, All the guides are on the top section. With about 7 inches cut off the butt and a big Fuji butt cap it is the most versatile shark rod that my wife uses. Thanks for Watching!!

Do I need mono backing for shark rods or should I do full braid?
@koreanfishingwife8766 Жыл бұрын
Our Daiwa BG reels have the rubber braid band on the spools so I don’t use mono backing on those reels. All our other reels have just enough mono backing to cover the bottom of the spool which is around 15 feet and then I will tie the braid directly on top of the mono with a crossover UNI knot. Also you want to put the Braid on as tight as possible, Thanks for Watching!!
@JRFreedom10002 жыл бұрын
Question here... The hollowcore braid you are using. Any differences in cast ability, line capacity and abrasion resistance compared to solid braid? Nice video btw..
@koreanfishingwife87662 жыл бұрын
The hollow core braid is very limp and smooth and does cast very well. The big drawback to the hollow core braid is it twists like crazy on a spinning reel! You will get slightly more hollow core on a reel than regular braid because it packs on the spool differently because it is kinda flat. The hollow core is so limp and thin that a reel with good line lay is absolutely essential, Much more so than regular braid. The hollow core is absolutely no different than sold braid as far as abrasion resistance goes which means it has ZERO abrasion resistance if under any tension!! Thanks for Watching!!

May have you a pen squadron rod travel boat rod, 30 lb but the casting is 475gr. They do a 50lb class is manly a spinning rod for shark
@koreanfishingwife87662 жыл бұрын
We only fish from the shore so we have no experience fishing from a boat, Also 475 grams is about 16 ounces so that rod must be very stout and heavy. We have never used travel rods but the longer rods would be ok for smaller fish if fishing from the shore, But if possible I would try to stay with 2 piece rods.
@andersonreid68452 жыл бұрын
@@koreanfishingwife8766 I used it for heavily pike rod and congers eels is it heavy spinning rod. Is a nice addition when traveling to different countries. It also very durable as I manage to get 4 ounces in the surf. But in high spirit it all the skill of the angler and giving the fish to chance blow off some steam lol 😃👍 have tried those fiblink moonsniper surf rods very durable.

@@koreanfishingwife8766 i research the rod is a heavily cast 17 ounces which is ridiculous for the a fishing. Is class as 30lb rod but I think it mono line so it much more for braid test

We only use Braided line on all of our Surf Fishing outfits. However we do use Mono on some of our fresh water bass fishing outfits. We are focused on our Surf Fishing a lot more now and haven’t done much bass fishing lately.

Our 3 Tsunami Airwave Elite rods already had shrink wrap on them. All the other rods I put the shrink wrap on myself. i also put new cork on most of the rods prior to putting the X-Flock wrap on, Thanks for Watching!!

Nice setups, just small whitings for me at nsb. Did you take this week off?
@koreanfishingwife87663 жыл бұрын
I canceled 2 trips at the last minute this week do to wind/rain. There is maybe a couple days next week that look possible but it is still 5 days away and things can change. The surf fishing has been very slow and I don’t want to force a trip when I know the conditions are not going to be good☹️
@davevalente3 жыл бұрын
The south wind made the water dirty, do you like to fish clean water?
@koreanfishingwife87663 жыл бұрын
We prefer clean water just to keep away from the catfish! But we have caught a lot of big sharks in dirty water. I have never canceled a trip over muddy water conditions.

Where did you buy the tsunami air Wave elite I’m looking forward to buying one but I can’t find them in stock
@koreanfishingwife87663 жыл бұрын
I got all 3 of our Tsunami Airwave Elite rods from Tackle Direct and got a very good deal on them. Since then the prices have went up and they have a $20 shipping charge on all rods. Just so you know both the 8’6” popping rods had minor damage when I received them. One had a scuffed up metal butt cap which I was going to cover with a rubber cap anyway. The other one had a slightly bent Guide from the factory which I fixed and had them refund my shipping, So just something to think about if you order from them, I also got my wife’s 8’ Star Stellar from them and that was received in perfect condition

In your opinion, can the BG 8000 cast 80 lb braid far? I am trying to decide if 80 lb braid is too much and I should just stick with 65 lb. wanting to be sure I can catch some bigger sharks if needed.
@koreanfishingwife8766 Жыл бұрын
We have 2 Daiwa BG 8000 reels one has 60lb Hollow core braid and the other with the yellow line is 65lb Suffix 832. I would recommend the 65lb Sufix 832 but if you wanted to go with 80lb braid that would be fine as well. The BG 8000 has a huge spool so while you would loose some casting distance it would be minimal, Thanks For Watching!!

Hi. On the two-piece rods, is it best to take them apart after use?
@koreanfishingwife87663 жыл бұрын
I always leave the Tsunami 8’6” rods put together and they do fit in the car but they will get loose if water gets in the joint when rinsing them, So you need to check them before each trip. My wife’s little 8’ Star Stellar is a 2 piece and it always stay put together.

@@koreanfishingwife8766 yeah here In Germany there is a limited market on those braids. Also I have a 30 pound braid from WFT for 6 to 7 years now and it's still holding up and sufix 832 is thick compared to other braid . Please don't take this as hate you can use any braid you like.

I have Jerry Brown and Seaguar Theadlock hollow core braid on some of my Reels and it is Very Good line!! But it Twists like crazy on spinning reels. We have been Surf Fishing for 14 years and the first 10 years all we ever used was Powerpro, You just want to make sure you are not getting the Chinese counterfeit when ordering online. Powerpro is good braid for $20 for 300yds and is the best choice for most people, But when I put new line on my reels going forward it will most likely be Sufix 832

@@koreanfishingwife8766 I only fish in fresh water. That is why I use thin braid to get better casting distance also the only fish around here with teeth are pike and zander (a bigger version of walleye )

What do you recommend for a good sealed reel for someone that is gonna be fishing from a boat and wont break the bank?

I would look at the Shimano Spheros SW reels, They are priced from $199 to $259 depending on what size you are looking for. They are a much better value than the more expensive Saragossa models. I always tell people to go to Alan Hawks website if you are serious about looking for a spinning reel, He gives very detailed reviews! Thanks for Watching!!

I have the ocean master 12 foot rod and I want to cut a couple inches of the butt but I don’t know what size but cap to put do you happen to know. And do you super glue it?
@koreanfishingwife87663 жыл бұрын
I put the Fuji BRC 25 Butt cap on our 12ft OM, One rod I put the cap over the bare blank and the other I put it over the Cork. On both I only used Elmers Glue. The butt cap that went over the cork was on very tight and you probably don’t even need any glue. The butt cap over the blank I put one layer of masking tape to make it fit tighter. But definitely do not use super glue!!. I also would just put your but cap over the X-flock grip or the cork which ever one your rod has because it is much easier than trying to trim the cork to get the butt cap to fit. Also I would use a dremel tool cutting wheel to cut the blank and not a hacksaw!!
