Here's a problem in NC, they WON'T charge criminals as Habitual Offenders. Where I worked at, a 15 time CONVICTED FELON broke into our new office we were moving into, one day before the alarm system was turned on. He was later caught when he tried to pawn an expensive watcht hat was in the safe he and others had stolen from the business. He should have been charged with multiple felonies, also was invovled in a Fake ID case associated with this. WHILE he was waiting to go to court on this, he and two other felons were invovled in a high speed chase, in which they rammed a Sheriff's Deputy's vehicle. A stolen gun was found in the vehilce. NO CHARGES Filed. Out fo the two cases I was involved in, he ended up getting PROBATION!!!!! If they want to fix the system, here are some changes that need to be made. IF you are out on Bail, Probation, or Parole, if you commit a crime while on any of these programs or cut off your ankle monitor, you NO LONGER are elligible for Bail, Probation or Parole for the rest of your life. You ALSO can no longer plead down any charges and must be in for the MAXIMUM time each charge is against you. If you are a CONVICTED FELON and Commit a crime using a firearm, 25 years, if anyone is injured, 50 years. You murder anyone with a Firearm, if you are convicted without any resonable doubt, EXECUTION!!!

I'm a convicted felon in Florida, I will say going to prison changed me for the better, I may be one of the few but I did change, fortunately I went to federal and they had rehabilitation programs in there, I even was a tutor ,I was shocked at the different levels of IQs in prison, some where very very intelligent, but there where many that couldn't even read or right like me when I first went to prison, I believe because of lack of a good education,poverty and mental illness ,a lot where committing crimes, then there's the evil ones that should never see daylight again, but prison also creates monsters, it's a double edge sword, but there are a few that mess it up for the ones who have turned a new leaf,soft on crime is not the answer, but locking up and throwing away the key isn't either, also laws need to be changed, if someone has changed their life, they should have their rights restored after a process, because at the rate they are making new laws, sooner or later they can make anyone a felon and take everyone's rights away, not to mention, example, they are trying to make it a law that if you are a Christian and say that a group of people killed Jesus Christ you can go to prison, and you better believe it's coming and there are many law enforcement that will enforce it, then you're gonna be on this side, they are declawing deballing and defanging the right, it's coming

Where have you heard or seen evidence of such a law? Lastly, I’m really glad you’re a success story!! State Prison is NOT set up for ANYONE to succeed but to FAIL & return to prison in order to keep the private prison system flowing with $$$$!! And I don't want to hear about there being no room for them. Breaking and entering, two charges of running from the police with a vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm, and weed charges. If you lock up all the people who have a similar record for life then we'd need at least 10 times the amount of prisons we have now to house all of them. Not saying I disagree but I just don't know if it's possible. Maybe if we used all the money sent to Ukraine to build more prisons 🤔

Human excrement begins at the top of the hill and flows downward until it affects the state and local agencies and departments. The DOJ, FBI, and ATF set the example at the top of the hill. When they are given the authority to use no-knocks in predawn hours and execute U.S. Citizens who believe it is a home invasion, everyone will be on edge when that door is broke into and there is nothing for the home owner to do but react. No one who is sane can have any respect or show any support for those who do work for the DOJ where this sick behavior begins; and it begins with a useless creature like the director of the DOJ, Garland. Garland gives his goon squads, including the ATF, the authority to use no-knocks to enforce his draconian, unconstitutional laws. Unfortunately, the behavior of the DOJ, FBI, and ATF spreads to state and local law enforcement. When the state AGs are bought off and paid for by Soros, WEF, world CORPORATIONS, and Blackrock, the law abiding, freedom loving U.S. Citizen gets mixed up with the criminal. There is a gray area that was crossed with Malinowski's execution in Little Rock, Arkansas by the ATF. Whether he was selling guns without a license is irrelevant. What is relevant is that he was executed in a no-knock raid in the predawn hours without having his day in court and this raid was carried out with a SEARCH warrant; a SEARCH warrant that could have been carried out in broad daylight with a simple knock on the door. There was no arrest warrant. This behavior by the DOJ, FBI, and ATF puts everybody on edge. It was a terrible thing that four sheriff deputies were killed and others injured serving a warrant in NC on a criminal that should not have been out on the streets, but this is the consequence of AGs being bought off by Soros and his globalist comrades. When this is mixed with the gestapo like tactics of the bureaucratic run DOJ, FBI, and ATF, there is nothing but chaos within the justice department and law enforcement. Even worse, federal and state judges are bought off or don't have the ability to discern between right and wrong, good and evil. It is time to get rid of Garland and the ATF and everyone within the authoritarian bureaucracy as well as the three branches of government that that aren't willing to enforce, support and defend the U.S. Constitution and its Bill of Rights. CORPORATIONS AND THEIR AFFILIATES LIKE BLACKROCK ALONG WITH THEIR MONEY MUST BE TAKEN OUT OF LOCAL, COUNTY, STATE, AND FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AND POLITICS. There should be extreme fines and imprisonment for CORPORATE execs and Larry Fink of Blackrock for the creation of gestapo like enforcers who like to dress up like rambo and execute U.S. Citizens before they have a chance to face their accusers.

I have really wanted to get into law enforcement, but incidences like this have me questioning, continuing through the process. It makes no sense.

Good luck if that is the path you take. It was a great career I don't wish on anyone, especially in this day and age. It really irked me when criminals were walking out the door with a citation before I even had the evidence booked and the report written. It is even worse in Los Angeles County with DA Gascon at the helm. But hey, if you have to do your job as a cop, killing a suspect, you will be scrutinized even worse and possibly prosecuted for doing the right thing. I'm happy to be retired and out of that once great state.

I certainly get the question. I look at it the same way that some foreigner doesn't get the benefit of the constitution.....said person has given up their rights via their crimes. Now, I don't like how someone could write a hot check of a certain amount for example, be convicted of felony and loose rights. I think it should only involve violent criminals. Also, it's worth noting that one can apply to reobtain their rights down the road. It's up to a judge and a fair amount of people get rights back
@donmoore9901
@donmoore9901 5 ай бұрын
@@waylonsmith5419 If rights can be taken away, then they are not rights, but privileges. The point of the bill of rights is that the government cannot infringe on them and maintain it's legitimacy. They don't have rights while in custody. But, upon their release they return to the body of citizenry. If every other American is armed, it matters much less whether a felon or a crazy person or the government has arms. As for people who have not served their time, but are out early for any other reason, I defer to the justice system is broken, or at least flawed.

It's never been a great system. By focusing on locking up everyone for everything for decades of their lives and making no legitimate effort at rehabilitating we have the 6th highest incarceration rates, the largest incarcerated population, over crowding, dangerous, and costly prison systems, a recidivism rate of roughly 70% in 5 years, and estimated ~5% of wrongful convictions. In the last decade or so American's have come to accept that our justice system has been a failure for a long time, and we are finally taking steps in the right direction: away from mass incarceration, towards decriminalization, towards equal rights protections, and alternative solutions. Unfortunately, we cannot just change our justice system overnight, and it will require decades of growing pains to build a justice system that will even begin to address these problems.

The meltdown occurring in Oakland and Alameda County illustrates your point perfectly. Loss of prosecutions and no bail reforms result in lawlessness and zero accountability. Once control was lost the Governor called in CHP for extra patrol assistance; however, District Attorney still will not prosecute. This was an absolute waist of resources and unnecessary liability/safety exposure of the individual officer simply to provide an appearance of actionable response by the Governor and politicians. They broke the system and then like a juvenile asked the communities in California, "What happened?"

This started when Obama invited BLM to the WH for meetings, they sat around a large table & discussed how to change schools, for example, they brought in critical race theory, among many other changes, some regarding rights of LGBTQ/trans etc, then they focused on "justice reform", get rid of police, stop funding them etc.. Then, Obama & the rest of the dems went to work implementing these ideas, now here we are 10 years later. They took advice from people who rioted, burned down buildings, attacked police, attacked media & bystanders, & caused millions of dollars in destruction. What could go wrong?

After years of working the streets the one thing that old timers have to learn… do your job, be professional, be knowledgeable, make the case, make the arrest and once the criminal is in jail… don’t let the DAs officer destroy your morale. If the DA drops your arrestees charges…. That’s not the cops fault. That on the DA and the court. I’ve handed bad guys to the DA with a smorgasbord of evidence and his head on a platter… and the DAs office still complains they don’t have enough and they are dropping the charges. It’s demoralizing to do hours days and weeks of work… to get thrown out because the lawyers just want wins on their record.

I was a Police Officer in a smaller city in Santa Clara County, California. I believe it was early 2022 and we arrested a known gang member and prior felon in a stolen car. He had six grants of probation because they never violate the criminals probation, they just put them on another grant of probation. He had a concealed and loaded firearm in the car. A records check found he had several in process cases for 10851 pending. We booked him on the fresh 10851 (felony), felon in possession of a firearm (felony), and felon in possession of ammo (felony). Upon booking into the jail he was released with Zero bail and given a court date. It's a flat out joke. Officers and Deputies work hard trying to make a difference only for the DA's, Courts and State Legislature to release all criminals. I asked the jail staff why he was allowed Zero bail. They told me because possession of a concealed firearm by a known felon is not a violent crime. I replied it will be eventually.

My state is atrocious. New Mexico, The only way to hold a criminal is to have a special hearing at arraignment called a dangerousness hearing and they're very hard to get. 99.99% of arrests are released ROR the next day. We have a no bail law. So on one gets held on bail. I've literally arrested a drug dealer, towed his car, charged him with trafficking and intent to distribute and recovered 3 stolen guns from his car. This all happened in a walgreens parking lot. I literally saw the same vehicle, with the same guy, in the same parking lot the very next night after I came in for the next shift. I arrested a guy draping a girl on a less traveled road, she was intoxicated, and she was passed out. I arrested him. Got her treatment and he was on the same street two days later walking down the road. Yea.......No matter how much work I put in. Our citizens get the raw end of the deal. Some of them keep voting for it though, and maybe I've become jaded over the years, but now I just say you get what you vote for. Most voters have no clue and think they're voting their conscience. Oh and the rapist, he went on to rape 2 more women in the same area before he was held for trial and was released because the victims were refusing to come forward at trial and cited the fact he'll be out on the street and now knows them cause of the trial. Unfortunately, they're right.

This incident has devastated this entire region and the first responder community in the greater Charlotte area. First responders of all disciplines are very tight here. These types of calls are career and unfortunately sometimes life ending for the rest of the first responder community as well. Paramedics, EMTs, and firefighters (11:26) sole duty is to save lives. Now imagine working, socializing, etc. with some of these officers every day. Now you're called to help THEM. They die and the guilt you carry is forever. You replay it over and over and over again, "was there something I could have done differently? Would that have made a difference?" People that don't work in public safety have no idea how long this stuff stays with you and what it does to you mentally. It's interesting what you said about the justice system and it's responsibility for all those exposed to this tragedy. I'm a 20 yr paramedic, 14 in the Charlotte area, 7 in the City of Charlotte. I personally know a deputy on that taskforce, who is ok thankfully. We're close here. In some counties we work the same rotations week in and week out with them.

What these cops had better understand is that when incidents like that happen people get more on edge, so when someone like this shooter happened to find out that cops were getting ready to raid him, he might have thought that he wasn't going to go out like the man in Arkansas, and he didn't.

Addiction is a symptom of trauma - treat the root cause instead of demanding hoops to be jumped through for access while having requirements to maintain housing (accountability). So many systems in our country have had humanity stripped from them and imo, this has made them unable to function as needed.

As a black man I know there is a real fear of black people being armed. Most blacks will not purchase a firearm bc of law enforcement….most blacks are law abiding citizens except a few that are criminals. You know, we can bitch about bail reform, politicians and criminal justice systems all we want. I know you said you wouldn't, but at some point we are going to have to, in fact, blame tactics (or lack there of) of modern day law enforcement (as a whole). Most departments do not take tactical training seriously or adequately fund it. They're so worried about DEI that when it comes time to execute a high risk felony warrant, the perp totally gets the jump on them using an overwatch position. Why are officers not approaching buildings that houses felons creating an overwatch position for themselves? Who created the tactical plan for the apprehension? And why is it such a dismal failure? Yes, all the points that you made in this video are correct and to blame. But at the end of the day officers need to be better trained and should take responsibility for their own training and fitness as well. And if that means paying out of pocket or taking your own time to go to different trainings across the country, well, then,... oh well. This is the profession that we have chosen. Why the hell not be great at it!?!? In a perfect world, perps would stay behind bars when caught. But like it or not, that's not the reality we live in right now. The reality is we have to train harder than them so that we can overpower them. But make no mistake. Departments need to step up the game and enhance training for all cops! They're the ones that go out everyday and risk life and limb to get the shitheads out of society. 🙏😓🇺🇸💙May they all find the peace in death that they could not find in life.

Is it common to have corrections officers serving warrants? I’ve never heard of that before.

In NC we have armed, sworn probation officers on the road checking on parolees etc. They are employed by the department of corrections but aren't "corrections officers" as far as I know. I've been on calls with them but that's the extent of what I know.

How can a felony fleeing case with prior breaking and entering convictions result in a 8 month sentence? In a lot of states that would be 2 years at least. I just saw where a local guy was sentenced to 8 years for burglary.

Let’s really let it out, those guns are on the street because they were stolen from some where. So, if you pass legislation that holds gun owners responsible for their weapons if they are not secured in a gun safe that can’t be carted off in a burglary. If you don’t properly secure your weapon when it’s not in your direct possession, then there should be repercussions for you. The majority of stolen guns come from car prowls and guns left in the car. Don’t leave your gun in your car unsecured. That’s where we start. Banning guns will do nothing.
