The Ridgeline is perfect...for some people, but not for hard core pickup truckers. The reason is the unibody construction versus body-on-frame. Its niche is the suburban dad who wants to pick up some sheetrock at the local big box. On occasion, it may be tasked with something a little more strenuous, but it ain't competing offroad, no matter what. Honda should make two versions, the standard unibody and an offroad body-on-frame animal. The business side of a decision like that? I don't know, I expect it would be enormously expensive to develop and the consumer cost would be ridiculously high, but if you're going to play with the big boys, you need big boy gear.

Honda has even said they made it for Honda owners to have a truck option. They never wanted to interrupt the truck market. I sold ford trucks for 8 years. 98% of the trucks I sold were pavement princess’s. The Ridgeline will fit 80% of truck owners needs. Maverick is a compact truck vs the Ridgeline is a midsize. I’m buying one. And being a Honda it will be worth more than the Ford and last longer. This is Honda’s largest profit margin vehicle. They won’t be getting rid of it. Even when Gen 1 had weak sales numbers they never killed it off. Sales have been getting better in the last few years.

Two hours? That’s not just a drive, that’s a mini road trip! Don’t forget to pack snacks!
