Howard Stern in 1982 - "SNL is just not what it used to be. Its just not funny anymore." 33 years later, the show is still strong as ever. People have been criticizing SNL during its whole run. Just because its not like it was when you were in middle school, doesn't mean its lost a step or two. Kate McKinnon, Jay Pharaoh, Leslie Jones, Cecily Strong, Colin Jost, Taran Killiam, Bobby Moynihan, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett, and even Pete Davidson are all hysterical. The show is still HILARIOUS, YOU PEOPLE ARE JUST JADED UNFUNNY PRICKS. :)

Agree with all of this. Plus, unlike The Simpsons (which stopped being funny in season 10 and continues down that path and has pretty much been overshadowed by other adult cartoons), SNL at least makes the effort to refresh itself (whenever they get rid of a lot of cast members and writers and hire new meat) and all the sketch shows that tried to beat SNL are gone (Fridays, SCTV, The New Show, Laugh Trax, In Living Color, Kids in the Hall, House of Buggin', Saturday Night Special, MADtv, Upright Citizens Brigade, Chappelle's Show, Mind of Mencia, Key and Peele, and Inside Amy Schumer. I don't know if Drunk History is still on) and its only competition today is anime on Adult Swim, streaming services, and whatever's on the Internet.
