You described inferior Fi perfectly. As long as I have to make choices logically, it is extremely easy find out what works best. However, when it comes to something like choosing a major to study, I suddenly have to ask myself "What do I want to do?". This threw me off and caused me to take a year off to think it through.

I can create a comprehensive strategy as long as I understand the objectives in no time...however I'm constantly beating myself up because I need someone to help me break down my personal goals into logical steps. I can't see myself from outside myself in order to create a strategy for myself. It's so frustrating.

True for me as well. I know exactly what I need to do to explore alternatives of study by combining interests or looking at ones related to my skills, but I'm uncharacteristically paralyzed when I reach the point where I have to decide, because one option is not more logical than the other.

Hello there yeghor, I think that you have hit the nail on the head with your observation here. Look at the ENTJ equivalent in the Rheti-Enneagram personality test system and it's analysis and you will see the motivating factors are for the various personalities.

This was a good explanation, but I always wonder why we are always described like this unfeeling machines, cold-hearted, treacherous, murderous? I mean yes, we are bossy, yes we seek power and to be in command mostly because we can't bear to see something that could run smoothly, cough his way through the world like a dying car... yes we are aggressive. But honestly... in real life we are the most random, loud, expressive and mutating people ever. we care deeply for the people we can say we like or love or are our friends, we hate hypocrisy... so mostly we don't lie although we do omit and edit heavily. but we are very not black and white, but orange or purple. you have more chances of pointing out the ENTJ in the room by seeking the loud person, jumping up and down, screaming about the randomest thing... at the same time they try to direct the way the cake will be served and the most efficient way to serve everyone the exact same amount of cake. And for example Sherlock is an INTJ, Loki however is an ENTJ.

Michael Pierce ENTJ here. It figures that he would win a game that he designed. In my experience with INTJ's, they are brilliant strategists and dangerously, insanely amoral. If you foolishly agree to play on their terms, rather than changing the game, you will lose. Fortunately, in the real world most people can see the insanity if they can talk to one for a few minutes, so his plans for world domination could only happen if he could remain unseen throughout the process. If he went before the public, no one would follow him.

I got mistyped as an ENTJ, and I am not brutal in combat, I don't care for leadership, and I don't care about being the winner at all. I am much more live and let live, diplomatic and am willing to capitulate for the sake of respecting individuals. Therefore I believe I'm an ENFP, because I do occassionally use my tertiary Te for a desire for efficiency and getting to the point, but my auxiliary Fi is stronger and focuses on sensitivities and desires of my own and other peoples hearts.

oh, Micheal i was going to say, i think everyone would like it if you made the videos a little longer to explain the types more as PEOPLE and not just the type itself; for an instance, my younger bro is definitely an entj and he has those brutal, driven, and strategical qualities. but often he is lots of fun, often joking, has a great sense of humor and really good with words. so i think perhaps if its not too time consuming you could delve more into the types as they are applied to people and talk a little about their behavior in everyday life and not only their highlighted qualities. I think those words could work well. I prefer brutal and demolish though because they imply a lot of nuances that I've seen in the ENTJ. I didn't intend for my description to make ENTJ's seem like ruthless monsters. That's not what they are at all. But they also have a brutal, demolishing mentality; that doesn't mean they think that way about people or are all psychopaths at all. But I dunno...

I found this explanation very insightful, clear, and detailed. As many times as I've read all the literature, this was the first time I really understood my need to 'subjugate' my environment so that I'm not put in an uncomfortable position. I also especially appreciated Michael's clear differentiation of strong traits not being 'bad' ones. I'm an ENTJ with a developed F side, because I'm a teacher, and I need that aspect to do my job to my satisfaction; it definitely did not come naturally to me, and my religion helped a lot with that, too. My INTJ step-sister likes to rag me that I'm all feely--we consider that an insult! :-) Oh, and I loved your music!

I just fight with my brother, i want to get house job done, and he just blocking me, i tell him to move, he snap at me, he just work 12 hour, and i just got back from 8 hours trip to another city for another family matter, so i raised my voice, screaming to him immediately, to crush his resistance, i said something hurtfull so he will angry and go away, he did. And after that, i finished my work, so everyone can be more comfortable around the house after i cleaning it well, and i fill satisfied by it, also in the same time, i feel litle bit guilty after shouting to him, but once again, i need to finished it. And watching this video, making me feel like i am not the only one, there's some people like me out there, ruthless jerk who actually care to other, but don't hesitate to use very rude way to showing it, because deep down, i know they will understand someday, in the right moment when they need it.

My girlfriend is an ENTJ, I'm an INTP, sometimes I just want her to go away, cannot have an intellectual conversation with her, interrupts me every two seconds and concentrates more on if I rarely used the wrong terminology to describe something or a situation, but does not concentrate on the "message", it gets very annoying sometimes and makes me question her intelligence.

I'm an ENTJ female and honestly, it's really easy for us to overpower someone "weak". We are incredibly smart, but I also find myself just rambling about different topics so much that I don't even realize half the things I'm saying and I miss the point. Especially if I'm arguing, I throw in random bits of information and hope it makes sense and confuses them lol! The thing with ENTJ is that we're always trying to be dominant and look like this great leader or a "God", so we usually target the much quieter, easily-influenced people and impress them with our brilliance and power. When we're dealing with someone who matches our "power and status", that's when we REALLY get down to business and talk/act in a professional way. Nonetheless, we will try to overpower anybody in any way possible. It's sooo bad lol!

Not all people who jump from the angel falls will break their neck, saying so is like trying to make Te conclusion look absolute like a Ti conclusion, which doesn't really happen since Ti is absolute logic while Te is dynamic logic, so a Te user after having all that data will more likely say or think, If so many people has broken their neck jumping from the angel falls, if I jump from the angel falls I will more likely break my neck, but the Te user too, by default would seek for contradictory information to the former information presented, to balance things out and look at what is more likely to happen, in a rational way, Te users look for as many sources as they can to gather information, which makes them less likely to fall in echo chambers like Ti users do, since Ti users can be lazy in changing their absolute logic and preffer to stay in their understanding which a lot of times is not proven by the object, like the Te judgement, Ti judgement is created by the subject.

So, so, so true about arguments at 8:13. I had a student argue with me today, when I called him out on some poor behavior, and he tried to continue his excuses until I broke down his points, when he finally called out, "ok, ok...you win...I'm done." He was clearly feeling the effects of my "completely breaking down the plausibility of his view." I also think that we do take a very strong offensive; I've been noticing that more lately, that I am coming across very strongly. As a teacher, I have to use more of my inferior feeling function than many ENTJs, because the students need me to so they can feel comfortable in my class, but woe to him to tries to oppose the way I run my classroom!

Hello there Michael, it sounds like my type here (and by induction me) can be a right nightmare to other people. Maybe you should have a look at my IPIP_NEO OCEAN personality test scores? Then again, thikning about it maybe you shouldn't since when I did the test my modesty and sympathy scores were 0. That meant that 100% of the other people who did that particular test were mode modest and sympathic than I was. Also this was just the start of it... lets just say that the vast majority of people who did the test were far less critical and more agreeable than I was. However, I did the test in one of the darkest periods of my life, maybe I would be more agreeable nowadays?

I mean, the rules were kind of rough as it was, because we all knew each other and it was a social event for us, but I'm working on it.

About the whole difficulty in explaining what they do “it” for, whatever it may be, is it possible that several glimpses of reasons they do it for come to light over time and make it difficult to boil them all down into one reason other than “for truth” or what have you? I find this is what happens here. The worst interview question or personal statement point is always “your reasons for wanting to be part of this company” or “reasons for seeking to undertake this program.” I get too tactical or too all-encompassing with it 🤦🏽‍♀️

Overall, I like the description, but I think you confuse some values of judgement. Let me explain you. It´s true that ENTJs can be tactless with the feelings of others, but sadism, for instance, it´s related more to the soul of the person. You can have an ENFJ, which uses extroverted feeling (a very sensitive function with the others), that is a psychopath and extremely sadistic. Histrionic, psychopathic, narcisistc, sadistic traits, are intrinsically related to the soul of the person and that it´s independent from their psychological type.

Just one clarification. I saw in Celebretytypes that they show a correlation between personality disorders and personality types. So it may be true that ENTJ may have a higher tendency than other types towards sadistic behavior. Now, it's also interesting the fact that they highly correlate ENFJ (probably the most sensitive type towards the needs of others) with the narcissistic personality, so this validates my point, in the sense that it's not a specific cognitive function--in any case it would be the combination of the four an not just one cognitive function- the main cause for amoral behavior but the person's soul.

+Eddycurrents I plan to revisit all of the types, it'll just take me a little while. However, that little model is very pattern oriented...so honestly it would end up being just slightly different than the INTJ one, with the pattern being ENTJ, INTJ, ESFP, ISFP, ESTJ, ISTJ, ENFP, INFP, ENFJ, INFJ, ESTP, ISTP, ESFJ, ISFJ, ENTP, INTP. There's been a fair amount of argument about that lineup, which is why I emphasize that its very function based and mathematical, and is meant to show the theoretical "familiarity" of different types with each other's way of thinking, and not how well they may actually get along as people.

Ah. I think there is that underlying theme to us. This part of us that is so dark and cold. But I think also any mature entj has some compassion and will use their Fi to some varying degree. Question for you Michael Pierce, just as a thought experiment i'm attempting to type some well known characters in movies and I stumbled upon the typing of Emperor Palpatine from the StarWars universe as typically INTJ. He seemed to strive for power above all else so I'm wondering what your take is on him; INTJ or ENTJ?

Michael-Anthony Clement Well, fictional characters are incredibly tricky, as I'm sure you know, and in my own thought experiments of typing them, I have found that, despite myself, I end up relying on set portraits of each type that I compare each character to -- basically stereotypes that I've personally made up. Which is not how one should ever go about typing real people, and which I have sought to eliminate in the official fictional typings on my blog. But in any case, with all of that said, its my current opinion that Palpatine is more of an ENTJ than an INTJ, primarily because of his much more active striving for power. But that's just me.

It's like the visual of a mouse scaring an elephant. ENTJs respect intelligence and hard logic and INTPs are masters of hard logic. ENTJs aren't going to judge you for your quirks or eccentricities because they are themselves, eccentric, in a sense. They'll judge you for what you have in your brain, and INTPs (generally) have amazing brains.

INTPs are more ideal than the ISTPs because Ns prefer Ns, Ss prefer Ss. i haven't found this to be the case - i'm perfectly capable of engaging ISTPs in complex intellectual conversations as i can with INTPs, but INTPs come across as more weird and lazy whereas ISTPs will actually apply what we discuss.

Kieran Kitchener Well, I think a lot of other factors would come into play in every argument. But the prevailing problem, when a problem comes up, I would suspect would be that the ENTJ is more interested in establishing what the most correct, rational answer is, and laying that down without a doubt or else defending their own position with the intent of winning. The ENTP however, is more interested in excavating a beautiful idea or system within the mind. For instance, I imagine Socrates (ENTP) debating Aristotle (ENTJ): Socrates often walk up to someone, get into a conversation, the conversation turns to philosophy, the person explains their position, and Socrates begins asking questions to determine all the different aspects of their position, to further excavate it and see if it makes sense from all angles as an idea, and more often than not they leave enlightened, but much farther from certainty than when they started. The ENTJ, generally, would dislike this, because what's the point of pummeling this idea if you're not going to get around to determining what the most rational answer is? When I read Aristotle he is always working towards a goal, and never leaves open ends. He wants a conclusion, and is always happy to *not* bother to investigate something for now if it doesn't serve to reach the conclusion he's after. Socrates however, goes all over the place, because its the investigation and not the conclusion he's after. So, should they argue, I think Socrates might grant Aristotle food for thought, but ultimately Aristotle will continually try to shut off and make certain conclusions about Socrates' lines of inquiry, which Socrates will continually try to open up, causing Aristotle to grow more aggressive in shutting Socrates himself down. That's just some musings on my part.

Now, if someone come to a random comment on a random video of KZbin to see whats the difference between an INTJ, and a ENTJ, and settles for a short 21 word answer that has 2 acclamations of it being a generalization...... Its not my problem. to sum up. You have 2 types of ENTJs the more Extroverted one. And the more Introverted one,who likes to work from the background. I think Bill Gates Fits the second type better.
