I’m an ESFP and was so pleasantly surprised to find a video that had something nice to say about us! Ha ha! I definitely agree that the information presented by the community as a whole will be more representative of who is creating the content, and because it seems that many introverts heavily populate the community that produces content, many of the extroverted types, and in my opinion ESFPs especially, are misunderstood and therefore misrepresented. One of the most valuable insights I get from learning about MBTI is not about believing that I can know how someone will behave or what they will believe, but rather to better understand what they already bring to the table, how it makes sense to them and why they may value things the way they do. I especially appreciate how MBTI can explain this regardless of someone’s personal level of development. I believe some of the stereotypes that exist about ESFPs could be based on a less developed version of this type. So I greatly appreciate the video you made and truly value the idea that all types have the potential to be heroes. I believe all the types are needed in a society to avoid blindspots. I look forward to seeing the ESFP revisited!! If any personal perspective from an ESFP would be helpful, please let me know! :)

NFPs are synonymously typified with their claims of "being misunderstood". Now, on a personal, subjective level, this is absolutely *real to them*, but is of course an intense feeling. In my own exposure to people, grasp of cognitive theory, past in foster care, and broad palette of friends of different types, SFPs appear far more frequently "misunderstood". Not simply misunderstood, but blatantly oversimplified and condescendingly dismissed. I do concede that *being understood* and being *misunderstood* are two distinctive things. NFPs (moreso INFPs) most frequently feel as though they're deeply misunderstood, INTPs are the most complex type that oversimplifies *themselves*, NTJs are the most confident about their own type, and INFJs are the most mythologized type. Great work as always, Michael!

Yeah I'm an INTJ and one of my best friend is also an ESFP. I've known him for 25 years. And one of the 3 long term relationships I've had in my life was with an ESFP female (3 years). There is no compatibility here for sure but an INTJ can appreciate the relationship if he respects the sheer authenticity of the ESFP. And all things considered, having someone who drags you out the house is not an unhealthy thing.

I'm an esfp but I used to think I was enfp. But through visual typing, some research and asking my parents, I have come to the conclusion that I am an ESFP, perhaps with a developed use of Te and Ni as well since I like to analyze my dreams, though I am probably more in the moment. I definitely have an eye for beauty and will be the first to compliment someone for a beautiful piece of clothing they are wearing. I will immediately notice a change in someone elses appearance. I also feel more comfortable being outside in the garden as opposed to being trapped in my bedroom haha.

I'm an INTJ, and I'll be honest, I don't get along well with ESFPs, but they don't deserve ridicule. Your opening piece on this is correct. They do end up being the butt of a lot of Jung Typology related jokes. It actually seems to me like many people have a bias into thinking that NTs are best. I guess one would expect me not to take issue with that considering I am one, but I prefer objectivity, and that's certainly not objective.

Whoaaa buddy lol... so I gotta admit I'm super impressed! I found this to be astoundingly accurate, and also very well articulated and presented! Nice job, definitely describes me pretty friggin flawlessly... I love coming across pleasant surprises like this, finding those seemingly rare gems of insight/content that actually impress me and have some how stumbled across achieving the 'elusive' profoundness & relevancy all to often lacking in uploads like this! Again, well done, and Kudos for awesomeness, Sir! ☺️ 🙌👏🙏😛 Side-note: Only elaboration/personal connotation for me I'd like to add/adjust here, is on the introspective feelings causing 'paranoia' and 'making correlations where none actually exist'.... I'm not disputing that this can happen and manifest in my mind from the 'extroverted environment' and situations I take in, however I'm cognizant of this, and use it in expressing my sense of humor and putting an interesting and entertaining 'spin' on how 'it could be' viewed, through sarcasm and playful/mischievous teasing of either myself, or others, and to poke-fun at our more irrational tendencies or individual personality flaws we have amongst ourselves, and as the imperfect human beings we are (that we have learned to know and love and accept as part of who we are.) I find it can make a stressful or uncertain situation more light hearted, and help point out we all have our 'things' about us, and they should be acknowledged and accepted through laughter and good natured communication, the absurdity and possibility of all things... neuroticism and gross misconceptions are prevalent in today's world (irritating and impetuous as it may be to accept) is rampant in today's political and socioeconomic subsets... so we can make a choice to live in denial of our truths and realities of our mortal selves or chose to laugh, learn and embrace all parts of ourselves and fellow man as the possessing the endearing uniqueness that is 'us', and is a binding force that unites us all with the blessings and distinctions that make each and every one of us similarly and unavoidably 'flawed' in some way or another, yet also complete and independently thinking and perceiving 'individuals' and allows us a broad spectrum of ideals, but still makes all of us 'one of a kind'...in kind 🤓. Last thing: Just make sure to unplug your microwave at night so the NSA doesn't use it to turn it into a camera to spy on you and surveil you illegally... and robotically... Kellyanne and Alex Jones can fill you in more... don't believe the fake news guys. Fox News and the Kremlin only trusted sources these days, beware NPR and NYT. Trump alone can save us, remember that. You want America to be 'great' again, right??!!??? Anyone know his personality type? Is 'sociopathic narcissist' common overarching trait in any? Lbvs.

i believe i am an esfp, especially when i introspect about my attitudes and personality during my healthy childhood. but as i grew up, i began developing anxiety/overthinking and the latter caused me depression and emotional instability. prolonged periods of solitude and inactivity were home to these feelings, which i think was linked to a failure to satisfy my social energy and dominant se. could my inferior ni be responsible for my constant thinking and analyzing and theorizing, which normally seems to be so uncharacteristic of esfps? thank you. love your videos!!

Thank you for watching them! I'm afraid I can't say much with certainty about how individuals uniquely relate to their types. I see no reason that that couldn't be the case, though. I know that I explain my type as an INFJ with unusually prominent tertiary Ti. But there are probably other factors involved too -- you mentioned anxiety and depression, which as far as I've ever seen are just as likely to affect ESFPs as anyone else. One thing that always helps is to explore other personality systems and see whether or not they provide insight where the MBTI types have more trouble seeing or distinguishing. I have found the enneagram to be very helpful in this way: I have met INFJs, for instance, who are different enneagram types, and it helps explain the otherwise confusing differences between them. I hope that helps...? P.S. I can't say for sure when the ESFP revisit video is coming, but I'll keep your interest in mind! I WILL make it, its just a matter of when. In the mean time, have you seen my original ESFP video?

@11:00 ESFPs in daily life seem to be the bane of my existence. @13:55 I find my Se lacking and admire positive use of high Se as well as find members of the opposite sex with high Se very enticing. I find abusive use of Se deplorable. @14:35 Does this mean those low in Ni are prone to paranoid behaviour? @5:40 I've always imagined ENTJs to represent the übermensch or devote themselves to the idea. @7:35 dominant Se (and Ne) represents an overactive "id" (also might signify hyperactive, bipolar or ADHD behaviour) Thanks for the video.
@DanielFaith1000
@DanielFaith1000 9 жыл бұрын
yeghor I think those with low Ni are prone to paranoid behavior but not in the sense that is ordinarily experienced by an INTJ. Long story short, a few weeks ago, I myself being an INTJ, induced my Se through a spiritual exercise and was conversing with a ESP friend of my when she said something to which I felt great paranoia. I was in a state of Se and felt an intense misapplication of Ni in the way I suspected her. The fundamental difference lies in that Se experiencing paranoia as an alien hand reaching from an alternative world or a weird grip by the unconscious that ruptures their typical fun-loving nature. It is just eerie. But for us INTJs, paranoia comes from the distrust of others' motives, not a wrong interpretation of circumstantial information. It is more cynicism due to a lower order of Fi than anything else.

I'm in between ENFP/ESFP! 😀😄. Doesn't matter how many times I tested myself from the 16 personality types quiz, I would almost always get ENFP!!! But I realised that I do pay attention to every details I can find. For example, when I saw a friend of mine changed his outfit for the class the next day after I saw him in a casual, perhaps a little sloppy outfit the day before just on the first day of my level B2 French class! The 'Introverted Feeling' part you mentioned is especially true, because I find myself to be very passionate about sharing my true feelings/thoughts just with anyone. If I love/hate something or someone, I'll tell them exactly how I feel and I think about them ☺😀. I'm more than happy to tag along with friends/extended family members/acquaintances when they want me to go out with them (but my parents are often worried about me going out to a really far place other than with my immediate and extended family members) because I ❤❤❤ being around and talk to many people. I also see beauty in everything (art, drama, films/movies, local/international places, music, food, clothings and people 😀) but I'm not exactly an introspective person because I rarely think how I act and speak can affect others because I'm so in the moment. I enjoy being in the moment. When it comes to certificates (IB and DELF exam), I use them for immediate utility such as starting my uni from scratch after I left La Salle College here in Jakarta and Fashion Business major for a different major such as travel and tourism management and I'll be leaving to France mid next year! 🙌🙌🙌🙌. No wonder it's hard for my immediate family members and even my friends (even if they think so) to take me seriously because I'm so optimistic, happy-go-lucky, temperamental, cheerful, friendly and very much an open book but I fail to take myself more seriously and be more prudent when I deal with things. I tend to rely on my gut instinct and don't consider the pros and cons of everthing.

Natasya situmorang you sound like an esfp for sure but maybe you've developed your Ne a bit more. This is my case, except it's not just the two types, I'm almost spot on with three types. I find it interesting (and surprising) how someone could become overwhelmed by Ni. Since Ni is my primary function it's the one that comes the most naturally to me and I can control it at will. I wounder if ESFPs are able to control their Se just as well as I can control my Ni. Most likely, huh. I'm sort of envious. Whether this really is completeley true or not, it's still an interesting way to look at things. I feel like I could learn something from ESFPs.

Wow before I saw your video I had the same thoughts about Nietzsche. I thought he was aspiring for the positive and negative characteristics of the opposite. I realized this does not mean that his philosophy is simply a psychological quirk...I think that it is quite inspiring. Even though I don't have Se as my first four functions, I am still inspired by his advocacy of the Dionysian spirit, much like when I meet an ESFP that spirit rubs off on me.

I think I might be an ESFP. I have this ENTJ coworker (who is rather unhealthy) who makes me paranoid just being near him because of his tendency to be douchy. This shows up as him talking down to me and the younger coworkers. Another ESTP (older) admitted to me that he gets paranoid around him too. He left recently for a different craft, and since then I've never felt better.

I don't understand why the subjective/objective/inner/outer experience of perception is/are the same for Introverts & Extroverts (*with the same last letter*)... Particularly given that IP's lead with Judging & EP's lead with Perceiving. I recently scored as ISFP & I constantly find myself constantly (& mostly inwardly & involuntarily) judging people (esp. if/when I see them doing something I deem as ridiculously disrespectful or skanky/uncharacteristically tacky/cringe worthy)... Then, (inwardly & voluntarily) chastising myself for judging them so hastily without considering their situation(s). To me, that sounds like a Fi leading experience right there.. Followed by a tangible Se & "flash" Ni consideration. But, I can't honestly say I know what the function I'm talking about. Soooo... Please elucidate...?

audreygmirasol Well, I think they both represent different sides of the Ubermensch: the INTJ is more of the philosophical, visionary part that was more natural to Nietzsche, while the health, strength, vitality and Dionysian relation to life, I think, is better represented by the ESFP.
@Komatik_
@Komatik_ 10 жыл бұрын
audreygmirasol Michael Pierce I'm only making my way through Genealogy and have read some of the celebritytypes articles on him, but Nietzsche seems to regard the Dionysian embrace of life as vitally important for mental health - which it is for INTJs for example, who have weak Se and Fi. The Genealogy at least feels partially like a sermon, wake up call or reminder to INTJs that the Dionysian is not to be forgotten. To embrace it, and then take the Apollonian to task in conquering life with renewed vigor and pride.

I see that some part of this video is the same as the one about ISFP. I am an ISFP but I love to party (which probably goes along with living the moment) even though I am an introvert so I am not in the centre of attention and I find it hard to talk to people I dont know ( in some way, it depends of the situation but I mean mostly girls ). So I wonder if ESFP willing to party is because they are extraverts ? I just love to go out , I cant live without social life.

kristinishere ...but that's the thing, your stereotyping esfps to people like miley, not to mention, you only know what the girl is like on the big screen, and your using that..soiled..behavior to judge esfps and her. that's what we shouldn't be doing, there is much more to people and types than meet the eye, you cant just say miley is definitely an esfp because of how she behaves. remember; research and humility. not to mention, we aren't even sure she is an esfp, its not like she took the test and got that, and even if she did, its still possible she could have not typed properly.

@kristinishere1616 10 жыл бұрын
Matuvo Namiikaze Who said I am basing that on a stereotype? I've followed her throughout the years and it's quite obvious she is an ESFP based on how she functions. And I *am* an ESFP so I don't know why I'd stereotype myself. What exactly do you think celebrity types is basing their typing off of? "Her behavior on the big screen", no shit. You're projecting all of your stereotypes onto me when all I said was one sentence. There is no possible way you could deduce all that from one sentence. "remember; research and humility." Yes, I whole heartedly recommend this for you.
@matunam250
@matunam250 10 жыл бұрын
kristinishere so what if you're an esfp too. your still judging her based on your thoughts and experiences. did you follow behind her at a foot's length and ask her questions? writing writing her answers down on a note pad? or is your "following" her conducted through the net. you said: "you act like you are surprised...there is no way she is anything other than ESFP" and That. is concretely judging her. and you can never really concretely judge someone, not even with rock solid data.
@kristinishere1616
@kristinishere1616 10 жыл бұрын
No shit, that is how you determine someone's type. You analyze them based on your thoughts and experiences. TF? It's so funny, you are being incredibly judgmental of me right now and accusing me of being/doing things I'm not, chiding me for something all the while doing that exact same thing yourself. Pot meet kettle. Oh, and yes, of course I have been following her around with a notepad. That's the only way to correctly type someone, don't you know?

Supposedly most compatible with INTJ? You agree?
@BlunderCity
@BlunderCity 5 жыл бұрын
Nah, it's the polar opposite of the INTJ, my type. While you may experience an opposite attract situation at first, this will quickly turn to a differences divide problem. The ESFP will get bored of the INTJ and the INTJ will find the ESFP tiring. The only advantage I can think of is that both as independent and are not likely to want to control the other. That said, young underdeveloped INTJs get jealous pretty quickly so there may be some trust issues there. He may get paranoid that you're cheating on him. This fear subsides with age. But when people mature, they tend to adopt personality traits that are at the opposite of who they are at the core (The INTJ is the ESFP's subconscious and vice versa). So an awkward and unemotional young INTJ will have a tendency to loosen up and become more fun as he ages. ESFPs on the other hand can become more intellectual and Te (goal) oriented as they mature. Therefore romantically, a young female ESFP might become attracted to an older well developed INTJ man (since nearly all INTJs are dudes), especially since INTJs tend to be late bloomers and become successful in their midlife. The roles can be reversed also but there is a distinct lack of female INTJs in the world and they face even bigger problems than their male counterparts (it's easier to be serious and nerdy if you're a guy than a girl). I had one great relationship with an ESFP, 10 years younger than me, we were together for 3 years and our relationship only ended because I we suddenly found ourselves living in different countries. The key for this incompatible match to work is for each person to respect the authentic self of the other: try to overlook their flaws and appreciate what makes them great. One of my best friend is an ESFP also. He's been driving me insane for... 25 years!

this video is accurate, just one thing... the hedonistic stereotypes in this case is true. i've never met a more hedonistic person than myself. Ni paranoia almost ruined my life for a while, i was convinced i lived in a Truman show- like scenario. ESFPs, please try to work on your Ni as soon as you can, don't dismiss it or it could get very ugly for you and everyone around you.

I realise that esfp are very sensitive to criticism.... How can I criticise an esfp without making them feel like I am attacking them personally??
@MrStevieJoeRob
@MrStevieJoeRob 8 жыл бұрын
There's no point in sweating the small stuff except for what's important to us. So maybe explain your criticism in terms of how its important to you or what it means to you (personally). ESFPs would be able to vibe with whatever is going on and will be willing to honor it. That might help lessen the blow

Then that affirms your stupidity- You assume brainyness with status-oriented empirical fields, rather than the structure and deep thought that began these fields. Critical and independent thinking are signs of intelligence, especially high computational powers and imaginative associations and rigor. - ENTP.

Cause that's true, my friend's an esfp and he's a party all day and don't use brains kind of people. U ask him to do a ridiculous thing in front of someone, and there he will do it. He likes engineering and studied it, but dropped out even after studying hard cause he said the people there were too smart for him. I think some fields are meant for the NT type only. Mostly the sciences

@@rayjackson5554 Hey there, I'm an INFJ and I just started dating an ESFP whom I really care about and love being with. Do you have any tips I can use in our relationship to keep it strong and exciting and meaningful? And what about it has been "interesting," as you noted? I've been doing lots of ESFP research to get to know her type better, and how best to respect it! Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

Anita Mozaffari My wife developed the habit of telling me what to do early on. Including such simple task as how to drive, where to park. What to buy and not to. I often resisted because ESFP are very independent. She took it very personal to the point of anger and thinking that I do not value her opinion. As an infj the councilor kicks in out of concern for others. The problem is that many persons don’t want to hear it. She asked if I would remarry if something happened to her. I told that I might but it would never be to someone who felt the need to tell me what to do all the time. If he wants to park at the far side of the mall lot. Let him. The walk will do you both some good.

@@rayjackson5554 that's great to hear, man, thank you for sharing! I think I'll let her be as independent as she wishes, and if it leads to some less than desirable results then hey, we learn from making mistakes, and who am I to rob her of her own personal learning? Plus I figure I can help in ways that satisfy my desire to help while also respecting her autonomy by perhaps presenting her with choices that she can then decide to take or not. It's her life! :D But if it is a decision that would impact the both of us, I think I will assert the standard that we reach a common agreement on technique and whatnot to get something done. Thanks again for your replying! ❤ If you'd be down to answer another question, what sorts of things do you love or appreciate about being with an INFJ?

I hate esfps because they hardly use their brain before doing anything, most of them anyway. They don't look into the future or the implications of their own actions, they cause trouble, and sweet talk their way out of it. Fking annoying. Then in a team they 'use their mouth campaign' and don't do anything except talking, pulling jokes, etc. So who does the work? Everyone else. The poor intjs then have to sort out and divide work, and the esfps do the presentation and claim all the credit. Gtfo dude! A very annoyed intp

@zain agree w both of your comments. ESFPs can be absolute scum bc of their Fi which definitely bites them in the ass later on in life. Bc they dont think of the future they often waste their lives bc they fail to achieve their life goals bc they nvr plan their steps accordingly. However they ARE fun ppl in the moment, but i believe immature ESFPs make the terible spouses and gf/bfs but awesome best friends or travel partners and event planners too. But Theyre also bad business partners bc they flake the moment they "feel" like it. Ironically theyre very good at selling ppl on the idea they're the best for the job...but will flake whenever theyre not feeling the job anymore and screw everyone elses feelings and opinions. They have potential to be great if they mature and are guided by strong support.... but if not they often waste their lives and have many regrets abt what they SHOULDVE done to yield them a better future instead of give into their feelings
