So atmospheric! I got into this channel for the Tigran content and now its the only channel that I watch every single video of. I never used to be able to get into meshuggah and now thanks to you they are one of my favorite bands to listen too... along with the Berklee Indian Ensemble haha. Your passion for all the music you feature on your channel (especially your own) is seriously contagious, thank you so much for making these videos!

Started watching the vid, see the intro : "I have no idea what the title means, but i am here to learn !" Edit: Really cool techniques in this interesting track. I consider myself a fan of whatever music you are involved in, and love porcupine tree, so really happy to discover this band and album. Thanks ! going to check it out.

I only came here to say I discovered Fractal Sextet today. Heard Fractal5.7 first, then listened to the whole album... Buuut even tthough this song is dope, (mise en abyme), I would love a breakdown of the 5.7 soon. Reminded me of your vid on fitting 5 and 7 together. Great shit man, great shit!

Regardless of whether or not a listener actively hears it, I think subconsciously one’s ears will realise it, and it only adds to the richness of the resolution once you do it.

This reminds me of the accent pattern at the end of Intronaut's Australopithecus! They're playing a 4:3 polyrhythm with funky accents on various stacks/chinas

What a monstrous tune, my introduction to Intronaut. I think one of the china cymbals is overdubbed on the record, but watching Danny play it life is such a treat.

Dude... this is super cool! Kind of reminds me of the solo section of Fatal Tragedy by Dream Theater. They shrink and stretch the form of the backing parts, which helps make the solo section that much more dynamic. Now it's time for me to "borrow" some ideas from this and let the borrowing chain continue. Haha. Great video!

Yeah, shrink and grow! I feel it's quite underutilised, even in the prog or metal world Maybe I'll one day use it if a song I'm working on needs it!

I have some suggestions for you to analyze! Fear of The Sky by Karnivool - Some really cool uses of quintuplets and 5 against 4! One of the best-written drum parts of all time in my opinion. (Also I played this for a berklee audition and it was fun). Laments of an Icarus by Textures - One of those songs where the intro tricks you a little, and the clashing rhythms are really cool. Theres also some 5 against 3 where the groupings of five leave the last note out. I love this trick; Pain of Salvation's On a Tuesday does this in some of the main motifs as well, in groupings of 7 only 5 notes are played. Wait by Pain of Salvation - Most of the tune is two repeating bars of 13/16 and 11/16. It feels like record skipping basically. But 13 + 11 is 24 so for the last chorus theres a really cool moment where busy 13+11 becomes a big ol 7/4 with backbeat on 2 and 4; resolving every two bars. But I think this song could be a great way to also talk about the concept of word painting in music. The chorus starts on that 13/16 with the word "Wait", and then you proceed to wait an extra 16th note before the next word. Really cool stuff in all 3 of these that I think would be worth talking about!
