I said it on patreon but I'll say it again here: Cases like this are why I ALWAYS tell someone where I'm going, what route I'm taking, and how long I expect to be gone when I go running. Even though I have my phone and pepper spray with me, even though I live in a small, rural town where "everyone knows everyone" you can NEVER be too safe. I feel safe enough where I live to go running on the roads instead of paying for a gym membership and running on a treadmill, but my attention is still on high alert at all times.

There should really be a line drawn as to how much fuckery a defence team can do in the name of defending their (apparently guilty murderer) client. Its absolutely disgusting how much lies and manipulation these defence teams are ALLOWED legally to carry out just in the name of "doing their duty". And a murderer SHOULDN'T get so so many rights as well when they literally took a life/lives, as the case maybe. Its sickening to watch.

A man can admit to killing someone and even show you exactly where the body is, but the defense team will *still* try to prove him innocent, change his story and point blame at others who loved her more than life. Can’t trust the legal system sometimes, but ultimately he got what he deserved and I’m thankful for that.

Honestly though the defense team messed this up pretty badly. The random accusations came across (at least to me) as wild and desperate, and seemed to hurt the case more than help it. The focus on police misconduct was good, it's a legitimate point, and as an immigrant without a high level of education (or any in the US) who wasn't a native English speaker there was a great case he didn't know his rights. If he hadn't all but confessed again on the stand it could have won them the case. That said, that's doubtless what sealed the deal - the tainted evidence was moot then when he'd given witness under oath in open court. Given he'd already confessed once, they really shouldn't have let him testify. Though ultimately it is his choice, so it's possible they told him not to and he decided to anyways.

Most of the time in this situation, the defense usually tries to get a lower sentence for the defendant. But the defense in this case messed up pretty bad imo.

Oh my god! I quite literally broke down sobbing when you said Mollie's momma adopted Ulysses Felix. He didn't do anything wrong to be abandoned like that, and the kindness and compassion for that kid broke me, That story was sad enough, hearing how Mollie died and how loving and loved she was, but hearing Mollie's momma take care of Ulysses touched a bit on my own trauma and I empathetically know how healing that step would be for the both of them. I can't imagine the hurt and anger Ulysses must have felt, but hopefully the two of them can heal each other in a way that nothing but these special circumstances could. They both understand loss on a profound level.

Great video. Just for future reference, when there's a high publicity trial, they don't move the trial to another county for "safety" reasons, they do it so to not risk the jury pool being tainted with someone who has a personal connection to the victim or a pre conceived bias. It's all about fighting an appeal
@bonniebuchanan9853 жыл бұрын
@CoffeeHouseCrime…I heard of this case, (from when it actually happened here in the US), and I have to say, I LOVE the last portion of Your video…Where you go into what occurred after the trial, the lives of those involved either directly or peripherally, and the positive way their lives where touched, because of how someone CHOSE to move forward or make a positive choice…I’m doing a crap job explaining (not feeling so great today), but my point is, I Love how the last portion of your video focused on the positive & there were aspects I hadn’t ever heard of prior to the video…so Thanks for the additional info & for so positively representing the victim, their family, friends & loved ones..and others & just always staying positive & generally unbiased in your content (ok other than the understandable on only occasional, ‘he’s a jerk’ comment to two…*chuckles*)…. Bravo! Good Job! & Keep it going! 😁👍🏼
