Excellent track by the legendary Spinners. *I am honored to have had G.C. Cameron view and comment on this page! GC, you and the guys are one of the greatest pop / soul groups in American history. Keep on making it! (RIP Billy Henderson.)

I have always had the utmost respect for G.C Cameron's vocals. His range is serious. In my youth I thought that it was two different people singing lead. Yes he can sing.

This is a classic! And its good to see that G.C. Cameron is alive and well, and still has it!! While he did his thing on the record when it came out AND in this live performance, my fav song (he sang) would be: "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday". Thanks for sharing your great talent with us Mr. Cameron!

Thank you You Toober for mentioning "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye." Not taking anything away from Boyz II Men's version, but I thought G.C.Cameron's version was better. It was used in Cochise's burial in the cemetery scene of the movie "Cooley High".The song was so appropriate for that. for that.

@carriereyhl6019
@carriereyhl6019 Жыл бұрын
The first voice you hear on I’ve Got To Make it On My Own is Henry Fambrough’s, then Bobby Smith comes in, then Philippe. And so it goes throughout the song. This was the strength of the Spinners. They always had 3 singers who could sing lead and they often traded off lead in the same song over and over. In Love Has Gone Away, they have Bobby, Henry, Pervis and Philippe all throwing in lines one after the other. Love it. But back to the O.P.’s point, Henry Fambrough’s voice is awesome. He sings the sole lead on songs like If You Can’t Be in Love, Funny How Time Slips Away, and I Don’t Want To Lose You. Henry and Philippe trade back and forth on Living a Little, Laughing a Little and many other songs. In live performances after G.C. Cameron left the group and Philippe Wynne was singing the lead for It’s a Shame, Henry was the one who sang the falsetto part (G.C. Did both parts in the original recording).

@@welshieallovertheplace There's a video of Philippe'Wynne and Henry Fambrough sharing the lead parts. And as badd as Philippe Wynne was, he wasn't messin' with that falsetto part. Henry did that. That says something about G.C.Cameron's versatility and talent. I noticed G.C. had to finesse those notes in falsetto. But time and age will do that to any singer years after years. Plus I always thought that that,was not an easy song to sing in that key/ register, and no one had did it better than G.C. Cameron on the original recording. As a matter of fact I always thought that G.C.was really reaching for that note at the end of the song on the original recording.He made it though.😁☺

Arguably one of the greatest R&B songs ever recorded. Why the Spinners never received the notoriety they deserved is unfortunate. Totally blown away by how well they do this song in the later years. @@falanajerido875 You might be right about Philippe. Because he was nothing but the truth and had hit songs written mostly by Tom Bell to prove it.No question. If I had to pick between these two singers for the Spinners I would probably have to go with Philippe Wynne. But my very very close second would-be John Edwards, and I love GC Cameron's voice. I don't think just any singer can replicate the songs that John Edwards sang just like him. He had great pitch and vocal range and annunciation. Kind of like Cuba Gooding of the Main Ingredient, but Cuba wasn't Eddie Levert of The O'Jays. Just like as badd as Dennis Edwards was but he wasn't David Ruffin. David's range and tonal quality fit The Temptations harmonies perfectly. But after saying that,you could say the same thing about Dennis. They got their first gold records when Dennis took over the reigns. I personally thought they should have gotten gold records with David as well. But hey, what do I know?? Like I always say. They all are great singers, it's just who people prefer.
