Spongbob could still be gay. Asexual has to do with how you react to seggs which has nothing to do with his romantic attraction so he could still be gay. Also, spongebob was watching plants/animmals (I don't know what they were) doing the tango on tv one time meaning he parody can get arosed and has sexual needs and the fact the creator didn't say spongbob was aroace means he parody isn't and doesn't have anything holding him back from feeling romanctic attraction. But remeber, sexuality and romactic attraction have nothing to do with each other.

You think it's weird for spongebob to play a caring motherly role???? He's the caring type and is responsible which shows because he has his own pet and takes jobs really seriously even though he's also childish. He's also really helpful. And patrick is selfish and lazy so it's expected he wouldn't help spongebob with the kid even though their friends. How someone dress doesn't correlate to sexuality and if he was gay he could have just said lets both be the dads and the patty he fell in love with looks more like a sterotyical girl then a boy. I don't even think spongebob knows his sexuality being to childish to care or explore it. Actually, something theorized that spongebob is in his 30s but since his species can live up to hundreds to thousands of years he would be a child at this point. Also, spongebob could be just a allie or be a different member of the LGBTQIA+ community such as trans, bi, or pan which would still mean he would like boys expect the trans one. Trans means idenify with a different gender from the one you were assigned at birth. Bi is like both boys and girls. Pan is liking every gender. Spongebob could also just find object romantically or sexually attractive or he could be ace/asexual and or aro/aromatic. Ace means you feel little to no sexual attraction which the little means you can feel it when certain condictions are applied. Aro means you can feel little to no romactic attraction which the little means you can feel it when certain condictions are applied. Both can make it hard to find love and could explain why he hasen't yet. But back to the nick jr post notice how they put him with 2 clearly gay character who are more recent then him, I think. Which could mean they put him there because of his popularity and because of him being there from the beginning.
