Poor sportmanship by Magnus with his complaining about the rules after he was out, he would never ever complained if he was one of the two in the tie-breaks. If you want to change the rules say it before the tournament starts. Sore loser. This kid beat him fair and square and deserves to be World Champion, Magnus can cry himself to sleep tonight.
@garfieldsspaghetti2 жыл бұрын
He was in this position before (while he was 1st and there were 5 co-leaders), and he decided to refuse to play unless all 5 people have the same chances, and it resulted in there being 5 winners. Not to speculate on whether this is poor sportmanship or not, but it’s moronic to say he is bitter when just about every chess player not under the FIDE Banner saying that this is bad.

@eragon782 жыл бұрын
Rating maters more than a championship title. Plus, Alireza is much stronger in classical which is a closer reflection of your true chess ability than the faster time formats. So Alireza is still a stronger player. But that said, this kid has a lot of potential for the future. He's definitely got a long career ahead of him, and could maybe pass Alireza in the future, but will have to improve his classical abilities a lot more if he wants to have a serious claim to overthrow Magnus as world number 1.
@Mikesco102 жыл бұрын
@@eragon78 "rating matters more than a championship title" hell no it doesnt. the title is always preferred overrating. plus i think hes rated higher than alireza in rapid. were not talking about classical here
@eragon782 жыл бұрын
@@Mikesco10 Thats just wrong when it comes to how strong a player is. All the champion title means is that you played really well for a single tournament. Rating however is DESIGNED to evaluate how good a player is relative to other players. The higher rated you are the better you are compared to other players. And im not saying a world champion title isnt more desired by players, because its a very prestigious title. But rating is a much better indicator for who the stronger player it. Rating takes into account ALL of your games, where as the world champion only accounts for how you played during a few days. If you play like a 2850 for a few days days during the world champion title, you may be able to get some upsets and win to become WC. But if you play like a 2750 the rest of the time, then you are hardly the best player, you just had a good week. This is why the World Champ title for Rapid and Blitz get passed around all the time.Its not like the best player changes every year. Its always Magnus who is the consistently highest rated player with best overall results. Plus, Magnus has the most WC titles over the past 10 years for rapid and blitz. Like, if Magnus comes back and wins Rapid again next year, its not like he was the best player, then wasnt the best player, then was the best player again. Thats just silly. He was the best player the entire time as indicated by his rating. its just that Abdusattorov had a good tournament and played really really well and won the WC tournament. Also no, Abdusattorov is NOT higher rated than Alireza in classical OR rapid. In rapid, Abdusattorov is rated 2593 and Alireza is rated 2656. That said, Abdusattorov's rating is likely going to continue to increase quickly as he has clearly gotten a lot better since pre-covid when his rating was more accurate since he hasnt played many official events in a while due to lack of tournaments. But even then, its unlikely his rating will be as high as someone like Magnus who is 2842 in rapid. And dont get me wrong, obviously Abdusattorov is a very very strong player now. And winning the World Championship is a massive achievement that proves he is one of the best in the world. But that doesnt mean he is THE best in the world. People who arent hte best in the world win the championship all the time, ESPECIALLY for rapid and blitz largely due to their format, but also because people dont always play at exactly the same strength every time, sometimes people have a good day or an off day. All Im saying is that the WC title doesnt tell you who the best player is. But it does tell you the player who managed to beat all the best players in a tournament and earn the most prestigious title. But rating is the best indicator for overall true skill.
@Mikesco102 жыл бұрын
@@eragon78 bruh holy shit u wrote a proper essay its not that serious. All im saying is that if u ask the players they prefer the championship over rating. Rating will settle in eventually. And no chump is gonna win a tournament with that field of players. Abdusittoriv is clearly a future top player whos gaining rating points with tims hes on 17 hel continue to grow
@eragon782 жыл бұрын
@@Mikesco10 Players prefer the champ title because its more prestigious to the general audience, but that doesnt mean the person with the title is the best player, thats just factually wrong. If Abdusittoriv becomes rated #1 then yea, he's the best player. But until he becomes #1 rated, then he isnt the best. Its really just as simple as that. And again, I never said he was some chump. I literally said he cemented himself as a top player by winning the world champion. I just said that the WC is NOT the best player, the highest rated player is the best player. That was my only point. I wrote a lot to explain that point because I was just trying to explain it well. Its not an essay, its like 3 paragraphs, its not that much. if you dont wanna read it, nobody is forcing you to. And im not getting all serious about it either, I was just casually explaining my viewpoint. Im not going to clip it to 140 characters like its a twitter just because people dont like to read. If you dont wanna read it, then dont, I just wanted to say what I had to say. If you dont want to read what other people have to say, then dont comment responding to them, because that insinuates you want a discussion.

Magnus could have won the game at 10:20 by moving knight g5 instead of pawn f5. Bishop can't take knight because it's pinned. Black knight kicks the white queen off any white square that guards the pawn on h5, allowing Magnus to promptly take the h5 pawn with his queen, winning the game.
