Carrie also made a huge thing about the kleys with Big. He however explained that he is reluctant to give out his key because 'you never get them back'. I wonder how Carrie would have reacted if Big had yelled at her 'I gave you my key, what more do you want', just as she did with Aidan.

Devil's advocate here: I think it was the respectful thing for Carrie to do to honor Miranda's wishes to not come, even if she felt like Miranda was just being polite. Also credit to Carrie for asking, "What do you need me to do?" Instead of, "Do you need me?" PS, yes, you used "whom" correctly

When my best mate’s mum passed, as soon as I could I caught a late night train and walked multiple kilometres (when there was over an hour wait for the bus) just to sit there in the same room with them. I also took food and wine, but just showing up was literally the least I could/would do.

AHHH I had just accepted no ones gonna be posting for the next few days 😂 thank you v for saving me! This episode always breaks me. I sob with Miranda when shes in that dressing room hugging the sales lady every. time.
@knitwitchpgh4 күн бұрын
9:30 i always saw this as her respecting Miranda, knowing Miranda hates being coddled so i think in a situation that youve never dealt with/know how to handle it, youd just trust your friends boundaries. But also i know my friends, you can tell when a friend needs help. Idk i probably would have not gone either, or i would have went a day early for the funeral to just give my friend extra support during all the viewings
@MensWorstNightmare3 күн бұрын
I agree. And I think it’s kind of a double standard to say that Carrie should have allowed Aiden to support her, but Miranda didn’t have some level of responsibility to tell Carrie if she really did want her there. I trust that what my friend is telling me is what she actually wants and not some weird test where I’m supposed to guess what she REALLY wants.
@knitwitchpgh3 күн бұрын
@@MensWorstNightmare for sure i know my one friend, who's my Charlotte would feel more supported if i offered to help with organizing or dog care. Not getting on a train. But my other best friend id immediately run to cause i know how she struggles emotionally. Its double edged for sure

Aiden didn’t even break her computer. That keyboard shortcut doesn’t do anything to Mac’s and nowadays you can’t even do the shortcut because Mac’s don’t have Alt keys. Her drive failed and if the tech wasn’t supposed to say a line that wasn’t supposed to be a metaphor for her relationship he would have just said “oh that doesn’t do anything on a Mac. It just sounds like your hard drive failed, we will see what we can recover.” That said, I get he was trying to be supportive but a computer is a very personal choice when it comes to purchasing. After hearing back from the the pc tech and figuring out if a drive replacement would be viable (which if the rest of her laptop was fine would be the most cost effective choice) or if she needed to get a new computer then offering to take her to the store to pick one herself so she is in control of the device she has to work on for the next few years.
@mrslvw3 күн бұрын
Yeah I think he should have asked her what she wanted especially as a writer she probably had specifics she needed for work. But buying someone a brand new Mac laptop isn't too bad lol
@kieleleron857684 күн бұрын
The most unrealistic aspect of Carrie's character is her wierd techphobia. How is she a writer at the turn of the century in NYC & be so tech avoidant? She had a whole episode about sending email like it was a brand new technology which at the time it was def not brand new.
@havakelly62443 күн бұрын
Yes, i agree. Her asking Miranda if he can see her and ducking when he logs on was so dumb.

Not really. I was living in New York at the time. Tech was very new, none of us knew anything about anything 😅 ... my husband was systems engineer for IBM, and the only person who knew something

@sabina.T Girl, please. I was in chat rooms and definitely getting email chain letters all through high school. I graduated in 2000 (before Aiden had even made his appearance on the show). Email has been a concept since the 70s at least.

Maybe in western culture, when someone says I am ok, its considered rude to impose yourself and your help/support. I am from Mediteraneen culture where people dont even ask, they are automatically there for you. But not everybody likes it this way.

I totally agree with you about the way Carrie and Aiden aren't connecting. I guess it's easy to see them and say they need to communicate (like how can I help you with this computer situation, how can we take care of it together) and sharing insecurities about the relationship. But maybe they are unaware of these things themselves.

I feel the writers always want us to think Carrie is the most amazing person. So that she makes Miranda's mom's death avout herself both in regards to Aiden and Samantha and Charlotte is not what we are suppose to see I believe. But a friend who cares so much about another friend that she starts crying. And I also think we are supposed to read it as Miranda os denying Carrie's help (even though everyone irl knows you can't ask a grieving person what they need). I think its honestly a blind spot from the creators, they can't see how absolutely awful and self centered Carrie is.

This was a great episode! Cynthia Nixon is a fantastic actress even in plays I’ve seen. I loved the moment Carrie goes to walk with her, one of my favorite moments in the show. She was a real beeach to Aiden here but him getting her that Mac was the same as getting that gaudy ring, he didn’t really know her. I had a similar situation dating someone who gifted me a gaudy coach bag. Unfortunately, I kept dating him but that was the sign that it was not meant to be.

All ladies, I’m not one to recommend to other women ‘what works’ for me. We are all individuals. BUT! I received two books from an author named Florence Given. And holy shit-she flies the flag for us all to rock by setting healthy boundaries, being the love and star of our own F life. And by doing so, the opportunities for success measured by OURSELVES and not society or men is a win-win scenario. It is not without struggle. Nothing is. But to avoid being a Carrie Bradshaw (have any of us got that time to waste??) and invest in us being who we are and not what we should be, is more than liberating! It’s an awesome journey. Her first book is ‘women don’t owe you pretty’. Am blown away at my age of 50 that I was looking for validation in ALL THE PLACES that didn’t truthfully reflect it anyhow. It will take time for me to explore it all. But it’s a new and welcomed path. What’s not to love eh! x

I get why Carrie didn't come to Miranda's mom's funeral. Miranda is known for knowing what she wants and being very direct about it. I believe if she asked Carrie to be there Carrie... would still not show up or send Aidan. But nonetheless, we are not mind readers and if someone's says they're fine I assume they can handle it and I would bother them instead of helping.
