Thank you Father Spyridon. I am now seeking catechism in Orthodoxy after having grown and participated in the religion of antichrist. I know that I deserve hell and do not know how to make up for it, to bring my wife and children to it, or to truly follow the path in these times and my shortcomings. But I will do it anyways and take heart in Christ and his saints. I will keep my anger and fear directed at my sin and demons as I feel that they are everywhere and seeing the evil of this world I feel very tempted to a prideful wrath and conspiratorial thinking. I see many people who think like me looking for some conservative solution or king, or hoping for warfare and the philosophy of Dugin will give us a worldly solution beyond the way of tears I don't think I can follow. Please pray for me Father.

Fr Spyridon, my family and I were just Baptized and Chrismated into the Orthodox Church last week after having been catechumens for around a year. When I first began to open my mind and heart to Christ, your sermons played a role in leading me to Orthodoxy. I say this not to incite pride, but to encourage you to keep sharing the wisdom handed down from God to our forefathers and eventually to us. I hope to meet you some day. May God bless you.

When we do something so profound as joining God’s Church, it enrages the demons, but all of Heaven rejoices. Praying for the dead is not a biblical concept. Our prayers have no bearing on someone once he or she has died. The reality is that, at the point of death, one’s eternal destiny is confirmed. Either he is saved through faith in Christ and is in heaven where he is experiencing rest and joy in God’s presence, or he is in torment in hell. The story of the rich man and Lazarus the beggar provides us with a vivid illustration of this truth. Jesus plainly used this story to teach that after death the unrighteous are eternally separated from God, that they remember their rejection of the gospel, that they are in torment, and that their condition cannot be remedied (Luke 16:19-31).

St John Chrysostom says if you see someone who appears to have a perfect life here; wealthy, adored, no health problems etc, cry for them because they cannot be helped here, for some reason, through suffering so they will suffer in the next life, and that state is eternal and unending and beyond our comprehension. Suffering humbles us and brings us closer to God; it's a blessing
@sofiebult2 жыл бұрын
Suffering may be intended to humble us but who can tell me ""how much suffering,"" is enough suffering. FFA I've been suffering a family problem for many years. I've had a gut full. No amount of prayers, fasting, praising, glorifying, thanking, begging, almsgiving, praying for the dead- nothing has eased my pain. So I give up. Enough is enough. I still believe, I still love, I still think God is sooo powerful I still love Orthodoxy I just don't think I'm in His chosen. @@sofiebult If you're suffering then you can be helped here, that's a blessing, and it isn't 'random' or an accident. I suffered greatly and through it woke up to Christ and orthodoxy Regarding wars and natural disasters, Christ told us that this would happen; it's a sign of the coming judgment of God. @@sofiebult God does not allow Orthodoxy to become a simple transaction. Whether we like it or not, the act of suffering IS the purpose. That IS the goal of Christ's mission: to teach us to endure "hell" on earth, so we do NOT need to endure it in hades. It is normal to feel the strain. To feel defeated. Despondent. Do NOT give in. Keep the faith. Sometimes when the purpose of our prayers are to pester God for something we want, we end up frustrtated. God is less interested in WHAT you are asking than he is in THAT you are asking. God requires of us to be "in relationship". We must love him UNCONDITIONALLY. That is, when you boil it down, all there is. What do we love unconditionally? If not Christ, then make it so. Everything else, including our hopes for deliverance, is secondary. "Christ first. The end." Or to put it another way: "I am the alpha and the omega". I am reminded of how the martyrs suffered for us. I cannot hope to even match their track record. But sainthood is the mission of the Church. And "martyrdom" IS what we do to shed the chains that bind us to this world, and free us to live as fully human, in the next. Interestingly, at an Orthodox wedding, the bride and groom are given crowns. These are the crowns of martyrdom. "Many are called. Few are chosen". Your NUMBER 1 priority is to be among the chosen. And NOT among the lukewarm, whom Christ has said He will vomit out. Burn with passion for Christ, and His Kingdom. Everything else is weak sauce. I know, these are hard sayings. Who can hear it?

I haven't had a day without pain somewhere in my body since 1995. For a long time, it made me bitter and mean spirited. My 40's saw 6 major surgeries and almost continuous pain, physically, mentally and emotionally. Add to all that an emotionally abusive relationship. Now at 52, I've finally answered God's call to return to my faith and I see pains differently. I know they will come but I offer them as sacrifice for the redemption of souls. No longer do my pains bother my emotions or drain me mentally. Instead, I think of one more soul getting closer to the grace and glory of Our Father.

I notice how eazy one can be distracted and pulled away from this great truth that you speak and many other wise men that came before us. Constant prayer and fasting is definitely what we need. It keeps us yoked to God and not carried off by distractions and temptations of the flesh. Brother I thank the spirit that is within you who is indeed your helper. A question to all?? I’m Looking forward to an intelligent reply.?? Moved by lust at the sight of her, King David called for Bathsheba to be brought to him and slept with her. David committed adultery with a married woman called Bathsheba, wife of Uriah. what's more, David murdered Uriah by proxy by ordering all of Uriah's comrades to abandon him in the midst of battle, so that he ended up getting killed by an opposing army. The Prophet Nathan was sent by God and warned King David. well, Torah verses clearly say that both URIAH and DAVID Blessed by GOD. Well, the question is, if Uriah, David and Bathsheba go to heaven. To whom will Bathsheba be given? This question is ready to test the wisdom of all of you: The Bible [ Torah]: God promised that God had already chosen all three humans for heaven: David, Uriah and Bathsheba. I’m Looking forward to an intelligent reply. Note: God said through Nathan the prophet that King David was rich. Uriah was poor and had nothing but Bathsheba, a little lamb. Therefore, God here assured that the couple was chosen through the parable. David's prayer sought forgiveness and Later King David has been forgiven too. no doubt all three will go to heaven. If So, to whom will Bathsheba be given? Note: Matthew 22/23-30: There will be no right answer. The question raised by the Sadducees was about the impossible situation of a widow having seven husbands, all brothers. If Abraham goes to heaven, Sarah will be his wife in heaven. just as Mary will be Joseph's wife. Matthew 22:23-33/ It has a different meaning. You and your spouse love each other, live together on earth, and are true believers in Christ. If they go to heaven, they don't need to remarry. They don't need to create new babies.

You and your spouse love each other and live together on earth and can be said to be true believers in Christ. If they go to heaven, they don't need to remarry. They don't need to create new children. Can they live together in heaven? The source of this promise is John 14:3. Christ is going to establish places in Heaven for all believers. Christ frequently reminded the disciples not to be attached to their earthly home, and to realize that everything on earth is temporary: if so, will Sarah and Abraham have separated in heavenly house? will their only son Isaac separated?

@Bitmas Ricco Using the text you shared, Matthew 22:29-30 says, "Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven." This means when we die and go to heaven our contract with our spouse is no longer relevant as we will be like the angels in heaven (Matt.22:29). We will also have spiritual bodies and not corporal ones (1 cor. 15:44) We will be married to Christ in heaven during the marriage of the Lamb in Revelation and it will be the church which is the bride with Christ the groom (Rev 22:1-3). In the church we only identify ourselves in Christ Jesus (Gal. 3:28). Marriage is a holy thing just as much so is celibacy (Prov.18:22). Marriage is a contract tied to this earth. However, in heaven and the new creation we (the Church) will be Married to Christ alone. I'm sharing since you wanted a genuine answer and I'm not looking to debate as I believe these passages are very clear on this matter.

About 14 years ago I "retired" from the city. Of course I was told by everyone that "I was running away", "giving up", and "going to be a nothing". I didn't/ couldn't care anymore. I knew that I needed to trust God that I wasn't where I belong and needed to retreat to "the desert" to be with Him. To find quiet solitude to trust and pray. Even through my pain and disability I found peace choosing simplicity rather then the worldly success. Suffering with Christ is joy. Suffering for worldly success is a torture that cannot be overcome without a complete rejection of that path.

@joeeshwar85782 жыл бұрын
@@OldGuy70s Thank you for finding time to answer me, brother. However, it is sad that you just read the verses from the Bible to defend a doctrine or a concept. But, brother, in all humility, let me profess to believe in one verse from the Bible from Mathew- With man, this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible. In my limited, unworthy, and uneducated thought, I truly believe God can travel backwards and forwards. In his time, some people who are dead to us are not even dead. I would also like to remind you. Two sisters lost their brother. They prayed to God. God came and brought him back to life. Brother, this is not meant to offend you or to develop a debate because I am much, much lower than you, and I am unworthy even to be called a Christian. I am only here to proclaim my faith. Thank you.
