Some people complained that Peach was made too much of a badass for the sake of political correctness. But in fact, this is much closer to how Peach was portrayed in the original Super Mario Bros. backstory. She was never intended to be a damsel in distress, so much as a prisoner of war that Bowser was holding to prevent her from using her powers against him.

That’s what they used to label things before they switched to labelling anything they didn’t like as being ‘woke/wokeness/DEI/.’ So in the case of SMB movie the supposed political correctness was literally her wearing trousers/her biking suit from Mario Kart and being depicted as a somewhat competent leader, instead of as a prize to be won, and a mere damsel in distress. That’s all it took to get all of the right wingers whining and moaning about the movie, claiming that ‘wokeness’ (a vague and nebulous concept when used by Right Wingers,) would ruin the SMB movie, then as soon as it was a big success, these chuckle-nuts turned around and pretended that it was actually anti-woke simply because it made money, (some of them tried this trick with Barbie as well, they tend to do this a lot, hyper focus on a single thing they can milk then turn around and ditch their negativity and pretend that it actually aligns with their own personal politics if it succeeds.)

*Jack Black's casting as Bowser is one of my favorites in a movie inspired by a video game franchise. Right up there with Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu and Ben Schwartz as Sonic The Hedgehog.*

If Charles martinet is NOT in the second movie, i'll be so dissapointed! He could play Wario and Waluigi; both are the real villains and can free bowser. Mario and Luigi met Yoshi, he can help them fighting the villains. That would be so cool 🙂
