i know someone who gave their child a lot of carrot juice. That made such a difference in the child's appearance that the doctor got worried.

My daughter's favorite baby food was the small jar of carrots. My wife fed her that so often her skin was turning orange. Had to tell her to find something else she likes to eat.

20 years ago, Dr Joel Fuhrman said that if anyone (even your Doctor) was worried about your tone from carotenoids, you should tell them that it is healthy and they should be worried about their own lack of tone.

I noticed since changing to a Whole Foods plant based diet if I do get a little burned from the sun the recovery time is much quicker. Like I will turn from red to brown usually overnight.

Don't citrus fruit have something that makes you more sun sensitive? So I guess you need to know which foods do what, and always wear sunscreen.

How would people perceive you like more attractive if you wear makeup that would cover the tone?

Using sunscreen everyday is crazy. The amount of chemicals in the label is like... i don´t want my body to absorb that.

@stx7389 why? I never used sunscreen, I'm 47 perfect white skin. I eat a LOT of carotenoids in my food. You know that dermatologists get a % of the sales, right? My mother in law is a dermatologist and she makes a fortune with skin products, including medical grade sunscreens.

@@juno6fair comment, does that mean don’t bother with sunscreen in the winter but rather spring and summer use it and maybe autumn?
@juno6

@@awolf913 I prefer to stay away from the sun at the most intense hours, or use clothes that cover my arms/head. But for normal day in a city, where I might be exposed to direct sun only some minutes on the streets, I´d never put sunscreen.

Just a heads up to you, Simon: according to his Linkedin profile, Carter is an MD/PhD candidate. Your denotation of his credentials makes it appear he already has his MD/PhD, and “Dermatology student” is confusing. Also, the title “Scientist,” at least in the US, refers to someone who is postdoc and has their own lab, and one who, usually, has conducted studies in the hundreds, and then there are levels of “Scientist,” 1, 2, and 3. Maybe he hasn’t updated his Linkedin and has graduated before your interview with him, but I doubt that. Please be more careful in how you denote credentials.

@@taylorm3195 lol scientists can go their whole careers without publishing hundreds of articles. One first author paper per year for a post doc is good, especially if they’re in higher impact journals and depending on the field

@ You’ll notice I said “usually.” You sound like someone who does not read scientific literature or who is not in a profession where these things are relevant.

@ no, I’m a scientist, which is why I know that most people who are scientists don’t have hundreds of publications but only professors who have run their own highly productive labs for over a decade after a post doc or two have that. Where did you do your PhD and post doc?
