When I was a child, my father would take me to a dentist for cleaning every six months as recommended by the crooked dental association in canada at the time. And nearly every time I went, the crooked dentist "found" a cavity or two that required a much more expensive fillings than just cleaning. So sadly, I have a mouthful of fillings. I learned he was a lyer when I was a teenager and one appointment he told me I had THREE cavities! I had braces at the time and had my Orthodontist appointment a few days later, so I told him that I'd come back next week after exams. He told me not to wait too long as the cavities would get worse. When I saw my Orthodontist I asked if I had any cavities and she said no! I never returned to that crooked dentist and didn't go to any dentist until I was an adult and had dental coverage through my work. When I did return to a dentist over 20 years later for a cleaning, that dentist asked when the last time I had a cleaning was and told me my teeth are fantastic when I told him over 20 years ago. So parents, ALWAYS get a second opinion when your child's dentist tells you they have cavities.

It is quite possible dentists ruined my teeth in my childhood, which is pretty sad because as a mature age woman I have many molar fillings. I had a filling fall out last week and the dentist rebuilt a new tooth for which I am grateful, but she told me I need to come back for a teeth clean and that she saw another issue she needed to work on. To,d me not to wait till something goes wrong. That tooth reconstruction cost me $824 for a 30 minute job! I use xylitol mints during the day and clean my teeth with xylitol toothpaste. I am not going back to that dentist!

I dont know what her protocol is but I started taking vitmin k and stopped getting plaque and I started using l argenine for sensitivity since my kid got horrific sensitive teeth from using sensodyne they even say it on their website. I also take magnesium and vit c and ginko biloba and cayenne pepper for opening the blood supply of small vessels in gums and teeth. I also then eat a load of chocolate and have to stop that and get some zylotol instead and get raw cacao..it can make you create more stem cells which hopefully will help my gums and I have used comphrey and horsetail but I have fallen off the wagon with everything nowadays and feeling everything is worse because of my sugar munching. My joints my muscles everything. So must get back on track.

The back lower and upper teeth would fill with plaque as soon as i left my dentist for a cleaning. It annoyed me constantly. Scraping it with my fingers, towel , baby tooth brush. A bit OCD about it. Now with this system, teeth are very clean back there. And the one thing I am struggling with is not sipping drinks all day and eating etc. So hard. Especially considering i have Sjogrens Syndrome and thirsty alot.

@@katharinedodson9330 so that hugely depends on many factors. Your weight height body mass ...activity level.... what you're eating...soup stew jelly?..... and how much you're drinking with your meal....a med diet you'd be eating for quite a while many courses including soup and watery foods like fruit ice cream all of which contain water and ypu don't need 2literrs of water to be plain in a glass it can be in a bowl of soup or a jelly. So of course many people do this..if you think about it for thousands of years we didn't even drink water at all... untill bottled water it was not common....people might have a glass once a year on a sunny day and for thousands of years people worked all day in the feilds having zero water only beer and soup... eaten at meal times only... they weren't bringing their Stanley cup to the feilds. Thus drinking water thing is relatively recent stuff. And in no way is 2 litre of water nessisary for everyone or adequate for everyone either!

A friend was on your program for last 5 years. She finally went in, after end of that period for a dental checkup. The dentist actually rolled his eyes when she said it had been over 5 years since her last cleaning. He even exclaimed loudly, "My God, you haven't had your teeth cleaned for FIVE YEARS?" So as to embarrass her with hygienist and people resting in dental chairs in neighboring rooms. Of course, after the hygienist told him later that "there was no bleeding; no gum recessions and NO plaque to clean" the dentist was desperate to know what patient was doing so he could have that information for himself and his own family! Obviously, he will never tell his patients what the program is for healthy teeth because he'd be out of business later.

Spectacular video! I've been learning so much about the gut microbiome the past few months, and how what we eat influences our health. This video popped into my feed and it's so fascinating to learn about how oral health and gut health go hand in hand. This quote towards the end stood out to me so much: "There are foods you know you should be eating but perhaps you don't know why." I grew up with adults scolding me to eat healthy without me truly understanding why. I know vegetables and exercise are good for you, but it was so easy to just dismiss it and indulge in the normal American diet/lifestyle - fast food, sweets and snacks all the time, sitting at chair for hours, being sedintary for days. But now, as I learn about the microbiome, sugar spikes and dips, inflammation, fiber, eating a diverse range of foods, what exercise actually does for the body, etc. I feel so uplifted. I've never cared so much about my health and am now living a lifestyle I wish I started sooner. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise. It's certainly making a difference in the lives of people like me.

I have a theory that chewing properly during meals is vital to tooth health and digestion. I remember from school learning that "digestion begins in the mouth" with saliva and proper chewing. The chewing motion stimulates blood flow to your gums and jaw where your healthy teeth come from in the first place. My wife is a "wolfer" and eats too quickly without chewing enough and her teeth are problematic her whole life dispite diligent oral care and regular dentists visits. I have only 2 fillings installed when I was 14 and at 62 years old have flawless teeth and I am a chewer, even a slice of bread or porridge. I love chewing and eating so much, I tell her, that I take long to eat. I would love to hear your take on this Dr. Ellie.

The longer you chew, the more pressure and stress you put on your teeth. The tougher the food you eat, same thing happens. Fiber, as I understand it, is not particularly good for oral health. Also, our stomach acid is excellent at digesting meat very easily, so less chewing is necessary. Since going carnivore I haven't had any teeth or gum problems.

Then I used to talk in Libraries, at health fairs, at hygiene schools, to medical and nursing students, in hotel ballrooms with a power point presentation etc. Then I wrote two books - so I really have been explaining oral health for about 50 years :) The science and understanding evolves - but it is so fun to understand why things work and why this system I describes is so effective. There probably is such a thing as too much zylitol. Some doctors (Paul Saladino) warn that zylitol can damage the gut bacteria. Only trace amounts of it exist in nature; we are likely not equipped for high consumption of it. I use zylitol after a meal, but I don't swallow it. You also see things from a truly holistic perspective which is so important and refreshing. One thing I will add. You mentioned Akkermansia and that you cannot get it as a probiotic. This was true up until very recently. But a company has now found a way to put it into a capsule. I still believe in lifestyle and diet for supporting it. But it can be a game changer initially. The company that manufactures it is called Pendulum. No affiliation. Just wanted to share that with you and viewers. Keep it up ✌

This all coincides with what I have been reading in the Edgar Cayce protocols on diet and health. For teeth was recommended to eat lots of hard crunchy veggies at the afternoon meal .Like a good salad. The veggies contain the B vitamins and by chewing them raw they massage the gums. He also recommended to eat gelatin with those foods as they help the body absorb vitamins and minerals much better. Maybe that is butyrate? Also prickly ash bark for gum inflammation to massage it onto the gums for healing. Great info, Dr.!

There is definitely a "slippery teeth feel" coming back and a whiteness coming back. I am trying to strengthen my microbiome. Most of the products on the market said to be good for teeth are too acidic. I realize now all my years of seltzer drinking did me so much harm. I otherwise had a healthy diet for my pH. Maybe it wasn't your dentist, but your diet that destroyed your teeth. Humans are not carnivores, we are omnivores by nature, so a strictly meat diet is as unhealthy as a strictly vegan diet. As humans, we ought to eat everything nature provides us to be healthy - meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, herbs, tubers, grains, nuts, etc. some type of oil (a little bit of butter, coconut oil, olive oil, etc.) are all good within a balanced diet. The only things we need to avoid in our diets is foods with extra added sugar and overly processed foods, so it's best to cook your meals from scratch if you have the time to do so. And brush your teeth 3 times a day at minimum.

I believe in you Dr. Ellie. My family is benefiting from your advice. We have incorporated every teaching, except the youngest kids don’t do the listerine. Thank you for this video! Idk if you’ve shared mewing on your channel, this would be good info for your listeners if they haven’t heard of it. My teeth have always been incredibly straight and healthy and once I found out about mewing I realized that’s my natural way of keeping my tongue in my mouth my whole life, thank God. My youngest boy is 3 years old, I think you’ve covered mouth breathing, and since I diligently (tiring-ly) checked on him every night to turn him on his side and help him keep his lips closed, he now does it on his own 99% of nights and his teeth have straightened tremendously in the past year! Plus he does his closys and Colgate without being bothered too much by the toothpaste anymore. To any parents out there: don’t make brushing stressful, you have to bring joy into it somehow and use a sandtimer so they have a visual of their goal, plus I only encouraged my 3 year old to let me brush his for about 5 secs top and 5 seconds bottom (counting happily out loud) to get used to the toothpaste and we haven’t made it to 2 minutes yet but he tolerates it longer than he did at first! He always gets a big high-five and hug at the end too! Also! Every time we start closys I stop the kids and remind them, “we are moving this around in our mouths for 1 minute, do not drink it do not swallow it, we spit it out, this is NOT water.” I think the reminder is necessary because I even have myself think about it first so I’m not just going through the motions and forget since it tastes like water!This will all be worth it and our children will thank us for caring for their teeth consistently. Nana tries to bring kidflavored toothpaste into our home and I’m adamant about saying “no, our kids health is more important than their instant gratification through strawberry-rainbow-glitter that does no more than put artificial ingredients in their mouth”. I lovingly have to remind her Dr. Ellie says no other toothpaste is exactly formulated to remineralize our teeth and she reluctantly respects me in this. I know this is a lot to read but healthy teeth in my children excites me 😁 Tooth care has been a journey in itself but it leads to freedom and peace for everyone. Thanks again, Dr. Ellie ❤ One more thing! Xylitol gum is a prize here for eating your food and taking your vitamins. My kids love the xxl fruit flavor packs you can buy on Amazon. I hope this is a correct alternative to Zellies. Zellies does have citrus flavor that’s good too. Now if I can only get nana to stop buying candies and colorful cereals every weekend 😅

fluoride free toothpaste is healthier for everyone..
@fastrabbitcrochet
@fastrabbitcrochet 7 ай бұрын
@@sunshinedayz2172 from my experience, we went to a dentist to see where we were at with our kids mainly because I was pressured by norms. No one was in pain but I knew there were cavities in two of my kids mouths. One child went through extensive antibiotics as a baby and I know that directly relates to her problems with cavities and constipation. After taking that dentists advice I finally put away all our nano silver fluoride free whatever different kinds I bought hoping to help their teeth and we started using a fluoride toothpaste (before I found Dr. Ellie) both kids with cavities got more cavities and it was just crazy the negative impact it seemed like only the change in toothpaste caused because we truly didn’t change anything else in the months following the dentist visit. So I tossed the fluoride toothpastes and found doctor ellie and started using her system. I believe the mouth washes and xylitol gum play a big part in the success of her recommendations. We all use the exact Colgate she calls for and my choice of fluoride toothpaste previously was obviously not formulated correctly. One thing the second dentist we went to for a second opinion (before Dr. Ellie) said stuck with me. “If you are going to eat the way the world does, you have to use the product that helps your teeth battle against that, if you eat whole vegetables and meats and only drink with meals and stay away from all the sugar and processed foods then use the fluoride free natural toothpastes that work for that lifestyle.” It was a lightbulb moment like wow I’m an idiot (not to say you are, I’m talking about personal reflection), if I’m going to be lax about cookies and candy and things totally unnatural coming in my home from well-meaning neighbors and our nana, then I have to make choices considering that. The goal is to change our habits for the better and one day benefit from no fluoride. If their mouths had not improved so much like previous cavities completely stopping and not black and still no pains then I still wouldn’t know what to do. This is working for us. (Plus I have great teeth and there’s no way I ever brushed with nonflouride toothpaste for 23 years of my life until I learned about flouride. My parents teeth are both great in their 60’s and they use Colgate and listerine. They do not consider naturopathic things, my mom kind of does but my dad won’t hear any of it. If something is working don’t change it is how I think he is. Genes, yes, thankful for my mouth heredity, but there’s got to be more to it than just inherited good or bad teeth.

In my direct experience with myself and many people I coached, and 2 decades of research, either extremes (vegan or carnivore) initially helps. Could be years one can receive benefits before reaching the middle point and then start going into another imbalance). I was raw vegan for 2 years and it healed my autoimmune disorder. Perfect health. Then I started to have dental problems after that. Then I went carnivore. Again it restored the balance, then it started to create imbalances. From these experiences, it is best to listen to your body rather than to your brain and logic. Your body is changing every moment. It knows what it needs and tells you. Listen to that. As an omnivore (who eats organic and non gmo foods only) I haven’t gotten any cavities for over 15 years I can attest eating moderate amount of sugar, grains, fruits haven’t caused cavities because overall, things are balanced.

Wise comments Mindeditor. I know (have experienced) what you are saying - when you clean your diet for a time you do indeed become more instinctive with food choices. I have said to non believers that it's like I'm pregnant - I have a craving-like desire for a particular food - kefir, for instance. By the way I'm a guy! The other game-changer is fasting. Intermittent fasting everyday (no breakfast) and the occasional longer fast of three to seven (or more) days. But you have to eat clean for a time before doing a longer fast. You will know if you are "clean" as you get into the fast - it should be relatively easy - no prolonged sweating or craving for anything. Again, your body will instinctively know. Oh, and by the way, learn how to make your own sauerkraut - one of the few real superfoods! Gut health, the entire microbiome of our body, is a huge part of it all. And be happy!

Breakfast at 2pm with an organic protein green smoothie. Home made “super gut” yogurt. Dinner is meat or fish with a big green salad with raw onions. Raw ACV and extra virgin olive oil. I still incorporate raw plants to get the benefits but I eat meat, fish and eggs. Along with my raw salad. Breakfast is almost vegan ( minus the yogurt) for the cleaning effects.

After consuming highly acidic foods/drinks, like coffee, tea, alcohol or sugar, I always rinse/swish with water, and it dissolves the acids and raises the mouth PH. A friend with a big cavity noticed the pain stop instantly with just water swishing. I also chew my toothpaste after brush swish it for 5-10 minutes before spitting, it releases huge amounts of saliva. Had a few surface cavities in 2019, that haven’t progressed at all. And eating soups, stews, broths deliver lots of healing minerals.

We had to take the ACT rinse out for my husband and daughter who are experiencing brown staining due to the cetylpyridinium chloride. Is there something we can replace the ACT with or should we change the order of the other steps without the ACT? My husband is ending with Closys and my daughter is brushing with the crest at the end now. Please educate us on how to manage without the ACT rinse. Thanks and blessings to you!

But only after food and drink and no more than 6 a day. U must spit it out after 5/10 mins to allow the saliva stimulated by Xylitol to interact with ur teeth. If u carry on chewing then u will produce more saliva which will dilute the Xylitol in ur mouth and make it disappear.

@dr.elliephillips
@dr.elliephillips 7 ай бұрын
You don't need luck - you need to learn a little more about healing the gums. Xylitol is useful in many ways - but in your case the first second or two of having xylitol in your mouth is the reason to eat it. I suggest spitting out xylitol gum after 2-10 minutes - and don't chew for longer. The reason xylitol works is that it stimulates a flow of saliva /spit to flow into your mouth. It is NOT the xylitol that heals - but the saliva that it stimulates - which will be at an increased pH and full of immune cells and minerals. It is your saliva that will heal "the hole" in your gum - not the xylitol gum. In fact, if you keep chewing the gum - it will stimulate a different kind of digestive saliva to flow into your mouth - the kind regular chewing of anything stimulates - and this will dilute the beneficial saliva that was stimulated by the xylitol. You are on the right track - but my suggestion is to spit out the gum after the taste has gone - then DO NOT eat or drink anything for about an hour or so between meals.

My UK dentist told me about the cheese thing 30 years ago. Here in Europe, the cheese board to end a meal has been a long tradition.. Now. Apples? They can be very acidic. Depends which type you use. My sister followed a diet where she ate about 6 apples daily and believes that was the cause of her tooth breakdown over a period of years.

I agree with most of what you've said. I'm doing the rinses and brushing with Xylitol and it seems to be working. I find the Xylitol is also changing my intestinal flora. I'm unable to digest casein so milk wasn't a food I ate as a kid yet I only had one cavity (at six years of age) before the age of 23. My teeth are still hard (wire strippers, crimpers, and one lick got me to the center of Tootsie Pops) but I lost three to a dentist fixing things in my twenties. Sixty now. I have found natural salt and maintaining a good stomach pH the best remedy. Acidic stomach makes an alkaline bowl for better mineral absorption from food. Better teeth.

You can get pH testing paper and maybe do this test for yourself. I have no ego in this - so by all means let me know your findings! I guess on reflection there may be some granny smith apples that come in as an outlier - but routinely we find that the fiber in apples more than compensates for acidity. I believe we may even find that apples contain xylitol - like strawberries and raspberries - which is likely why those fruits are so good for oral health.

I just tested an organic Finnish apple, and it was PH 3 = acidic.Then I tested pure xylitol mixed with a little of our PH 8 well water. The xylitol tested at 5 PH, so it is acidic too, but we know its great for teeth. So maybe there is something else in the apple that protect teeth, and the acidity does not matter?
