Yes, definitely a tragedy. But there are many tragedy and human rights violiations going on around the world. We are tired of war and I doubt that the true reason for our involvement would be human rights nor would it be quick and painless. Wouldn't our resources be better utilized in humanitarian aid and diplomacy?

Borrowed money, in the case of the USA. It's not such a bad thing though, actually, since the US gov't borrows at such incredibly low rates that it won't cost much in the scheme of things. There are greater things at stake than a few american dollars.
