You don't have to avoid everyday things, you just have to accept the immutable fact that sometimes people find other people attractive. It's not weird or disrespectful, it's not something we can or should try to control. What we should and can control is the way we act in the face of those feelings. It's not okay to impose a sexual situation on an individual who hasn't consented, it's perfectly normal and healthy to talk about general habits that you find attractive. This guy had some pretty crazy Tik Toks, but that one shouldn't have been controversial.

@JasminMiettunen3 жыл бұрын
I completely understands what he means. Imagine your dad saying “you look beautiful today” or “you look hot today”, those two statements are going to feel *very* different. Saying you’re “hot” focuses on your body and sexual appeal, which can be okay if you’re like dating. Sure, call your significant other hot. Strange man calling a woman hot or sexy, though? Nah. Pretty or beautiful focuses on you as a whole, face, hair, outfit, and sure, body too, but not solely. Pretty means you want to hold hands with her, hot means you want to fuck her. Again, that’s cool if you’re on those terms, but you can’t just say that randomly.

@@JasminMiettunen I personally disagree, if a strange man called me beautiful I would be just as uncomfortable. Maybe it is more to do with what kind of background you're from, I have the same associations with that kind of compliment as with the "hot" one. The dad thing I'm not sure, again I personally would be uncomfortable with him saying the "okay" option you listed. But I was more thinking in the context of a relationship/ someone you're seeing anyway, as I thought that was what they guy was implying and in that situation I have the same kind of feeling towards both as focusing on how much you like my looks is all connected to sex appeal and appearance to me anyway (not that is always a bad thing just they're the same to me) each to their own I guess. I understand your point.

The thing about guys like this is that girls grow up watching Prince Charming videos where the guy has to come in and rescue the girl. So they think that a protective boyfriend is desirable. What they don’t realize is that this isn’t just a guy being gentlemanly and looking out for you, it’s a guy wanting to control everything you do and it’s overbearing.
