When I was a young woman just starting out on my own in my first home I noticed the plastic bowl I used to store spaghetti after I washed it it left a bad stain. No matter how hard I scrubbed, soaked the stain would not go away. It was then I got rid of all my plastics, including Tupperware and have only used lead free glass 'everything' since then.

Please note that every plastic product has a number inside a small triangle. The only safe numbers are 1,2,4,5 (The numbers that are not good 3,6,7) so every time you buy plastic products, check the number at the bottom.

Who decides what's safe and what's not? Are they lab tested? Approved by a non lobbied government? Can they buy the approval. Too many areas to question in this day and age. Just sticking to stainless steel maybe a better option.

You can use thin slice sponges and microwave them every day of use. Throw them out once a week. The thinner sponges dry out faster. Many of them are made of cellulose (wood). Your sponges do not need to be dyed. Good hardwood boards do not need to be scrubbed. They are antibacterial thanks to triterpenes in the wood. Brushes can be made from wood and wood derived bristles or boar bristles. They are cheap and effective, do not need long handles, and dry quickly. Many groceries come in glass jars that can be easily rinsed out and used to store other things like dry goods that come in annoyingly oversized and under filled packages. Many fruit scented dish soaps are scented with esters that safe. Did you know that Ross has top quality milled soap with all natural ingredients for a fraction of the price?
