So this is the video that will not get any views whatsoever.
But I really wanted to make it, because this underrated pirate is actually one of my favorites.
Swan became a pirate for very particular and accidental reasons, proceeded to operate in some uncommon areas, and would eventually for victim to his own hubris. He almost circumnavigated the world, and ended his days as a Muslim in the Phillipines. Unlike most pirates, we actually have eyewitness description of what he looked like! And let me tell you - Captain Swan was THICC.
He HAD the glutes.
He WAS chonky.
And this is his story. Because I want to tell it.

The virgin/chad/rage art style caught me off guard but it works! Effective tool for keeping names/faces in order, and the surface level levity of it throws the tragedy (and at times horror) into sharper relief 👍

History doesn't follow a very romantic plot line, does it? Don't think Disney's gonna be interested in my screen play about a fat merchant/privateer who's a failure and...well...not very brave. Since I'm weird, I actually prefer to hear about the real biographies of real people. Great job, and thanks for doing a relatively long video on a relatively obscure person. We'll share the royalties on that movie...right? Maybe we can convince Johnny to put on a few pounds?
